Alajuela house description

This beautiful house is just 15 minutes drive from the San Jose International Airport (SJO), the main airport. It is located in a nice quiet neighborhood, a short drive from downtown Alajuela a charming town where you can find all the amenities of a city such as shopping, theatres, restaurants and plenty of cultural life. If you don't have a car, the easiest transportation from the house is the bus system to downtown Alajuela. The bus stops just 10 meters from the house. You can enjoy downtown Alajuela or go anywhere in the country by bus or taxi. The location is ideal as a central point to make day-trips to volcanoes, mountains and the beach. NO four-wheel drive car required, the roads are perfectly well paved.

The house’s location is known for having the BEST climate in the world, the temperature is perfect all year-round. The Central Valley, where the main cities are, is surrounded by mountains, which give the area a perfect breeze and a great amount of sunlight, you will feel like in paradise.

The house has Spanish ceramic tile throughout and has plenty of living space, the patio has ceramic tile and a nice garden with sculptures.

It has two nice cozy bedrooms and one large bathroom, which accommodates four people. The house has very large windows which allow for lots of natural light.

The location is a central point for day-trips to volcanoes, mountains and the beach. A must day-trip is to the beautiful active Poas Volcano and National Park located 25 Km from the house. This Volcano has an amazing 1.6 Km diameter crater and its lake Botos is located 1 Km from the crater, the vegetation is unique and truly exotic.

Another recommended day-trip is to Jaco Beach, Herradura beach or Dona Ana beach in the Pacific Coast located 88 Km West from the house. The road is well paved and suitable for traveling in Summer or Green seasons. Jaco is famous for its amazing waves...

For a taste of typical Costa Rican food there are several restaurants in the area. We recommend 'La Garita' town a 10 minute drive from the house, we recommend the restaurant 'Las Delicias del Maiz' or 'La Fiesta del Maiz'. Once there, visit the Zoo-Ave to experience a variety of tropical birds and wildlife and the Butterfly Farm in the same area. For more restaurants, shopping and all services visit downtown Alajuela only 20 minutes from the house. For a taste of the finest Costa Rican art crafts visit Sarchi, a town located 25 minutes from the house. You will enjoy the drive through sugar cane and coffee plantations.

Costa Rica has plenty of public transportation to anywhere in the country. It is a small country where you can go from volcanoes to beaches on a day trip.

You will go home knowing the meaning of 'Pura Vida'!

Situated in the suburbs in Alajuela (very close when we drove to Poas Volcano) – a beautiful house, lovely garden and yard, very cool, southwest charmer with everything we needed to make our stay special. The house is close enough to friends and markets and far enough away from the busy city. It was calm and quiet, perfect weather and a warm/ cold water shower. This two bedroom was bigger than we thought. Lots of space and well-designed sitting areas both inside and outside. The home was comfortable, well stocked with kitchen ware, towels, washer, etc. All pertinent info regarding the area and the house was thoughtfully prepared and readily available. Victoria, the owner, made it extremely easy to survive in a home away from home. We entertained guests in the dining room / family room and all were satisfied and pleased and had an excellent time. We would recommend this house to anyone and we hope to stay again when we can.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children.

Owner response: Hi Kim, thanks so much for writing this nice review. It was a pleasure meeting you and your lovely family in Costa Rica. Have a nice rest of the year and please visit our country again. Victoria.

We enjoyed our stay in this house in Alajuela. We are a family of five with three older kids. They supplied us with a twin mattress and twin air mattress so there was plenty of sleeping and living space. The property was very clean and well maintained. The house is very secure, full of light and the backyard is beautiful. We enjoyed the view of the mountains and the birds that visit the yard. The location is ideal for exploring the Central Valley of Costa Rica, such as Volcan Poas, the coffee plantations and Sarapiqui. We had a car so it was very easy to go on day trips from the house. We also took the bus one day, and the bus stop was located very close to the house. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood and visiting the pulperias and sodas, although cars drive very fast along the street where the house is located.

We enjoyed our stay in beautiful Costa Rica. The Alajuela house is situated in a great location, allowing you to spring board to many other destinations in the region. The accommodations at the Alajuela house are great. The house is large and it has many modern features. The backyard is great and there are a few fruit trees with an excellent view of the mountains. My family and I would definitely return to Alajuela.

My husband and I spent 6 weeks in this roomy Costa Rican house. We were delighted that we could experience the true culture anytime we stepped outside our door. The house was clean and furnished in Costa Rican style. It is built to stay cool during the heat of the day and also affords the lovely breezes to flow through the house. The back patio is excellent for sitting out at night to listen to the night sounds and gaze at the stars. The owner was most helpful and tried to acomodate anything we needed as quickly as possible. We rented a car and could easily drive to Sarchi, Grecia, Poas or La Pas for the day.If you would like an affordable vacation to experience this culture this is the place for you.

The listing was as described, clean and owner was very helpful. Volcano poas and downtown San Jose is a 45 minute drive but property is hard to find due to no street names or house number. Once you find house you can program location on GPS. If you are renting a car and are on the go it could work because it is a good price but only draw back is no a/c and we had no hot water.

Owner response: Dear Antonio, thank you for staying in our home in Alajuela. Apologies for the hot water not working for you, we have recently installed a new system which is very efficient so hot water in the shower should not be a problem. You are welcome to visit us again. Regards to your family. Victoria.

The house is ideally located, 20 minutes drive from the International Airport San Jose. You can then relax with a glass of fresh juice in the nice and quiet backyard. The house is very well furnished, very functional. We had refreshing breakfast, with fresh pineapple, mangoes or passion fruits. We experienced and enjoyed the "sodas" local Costa Rican restaurants to eat "ceviche" or "casado" with chicken ,beef or fish Delicious! We will always remember the taste and smell of this country. This house is also located on the way to the "Poas", one of the most famous volcano of the country. Just 30 minutes drive through coffee plantations and you reach the top of the "Poas". Get up early to enjoy the view and discover its beautiful crater! About 1hour drive to the Pacific Coast, you can visit several parks We went to Carrara park and discovered the variety of fauna and flora. Our kids we amazed by the monkeys, many insects, beautiful birds, lizards and iguanes. To the delight of my son, we could even see crocodiles in the mangroves. We also, of course, enjoyed the beaches and the Pacific Ocean on the way to Jaco. We recommend highly Santa Ana beach (Puntarenas area), a taste of paradise. Because of the off-season, we enjoyed a beautiful sandy cove blank black, just for our family. A lot of fun swimming in the waves and games! Well known for coffee "grano de oro", do not forget to go for a walk in some plantations, (just 30 minutes from the house) to visit for instance the house of Coffee Britt. It was a great experience, even if we do not recommend to buy the products on site. They were seen cheaper elsewhere. The typical village of Sarchi is definitely very touristy, ideal for gifts and very close to the house (20 min), it is worth visiting. In short, We came back delighted with our trip. My oldest old son even explained it in details to his classroom. We didn't have time to explore the Carribbean Coast but for sure another trip in this country is already in our minds !

This property is located just outside of the center of Alajuela and is a beautiful location. My wife and I stayed there for our honeymoon and we not only went sight seeing and visited Volcano Poas (about 30-45 min taxi ride) and downtown Alajuela (20-25 minutes by bus, shorter by taxi), but we also were able to stay at home and rest for a day as well. Having the internet connection was a big help staying in touch with our friends and family back home! The home is just up the road (less than a football field away) from a local "poperia" which is a nice little shop where you can purchase snacks, drinks, fresh bread, milk, cereal - you name it! We absolutely loved the back yard! What a tremendous sight! Very well kept. Extremely clean and made us feel right at home. We also loved the security having a front door to the outside wall that locks at the main entrance as well as having two locks on the front door. We never had to worry about anyone coming in and taking our things. The garage is also very nice. We didn't rent a car, but if we stayed there again we definitely could! Finally, it was very nice having the public bus stop just a few yards away from the home. We could easily get to and from downtown with no problems - and it was much cheaper than calling a taxi. Overall wonderful stay! We highly recommend it for anyone.

The house was a wonderful escape from my busy everyday life for the little time I was able to be there for. The house was clean and well furnished when I got there and the flexibility to either relax outside or relax inside in comfortable weather was wonderful. The colors of the house and the furniture were all very comfortable and had the cultural aspect which kept reminding me I was in such a wonderful country. When I wanted to get out downtown was a quick eight minute ride and I was free to do what I liked. I took a trip to the volcano near by and the beach was very easy to get to. A real gem of a location. It was wonderful walking around Costa Rica because the people there are so friendly and although I didn't speak much Spanish they helped me when I needed it and all with a smile on their faces. The location of the house was wonderful and it was a quick 20 minute ride to the airport when I left. I definitely plan to come back another day.

The best part of staying at this house is the central location in the country which allow us to day-trips to anywhere from volcanos and mountains to the beach and come back to a nice quiet and charming place. We mostly enjoy the tranquility of the area and how neat and fresh the house is. We enjoy walking along the street and seeing coffee and sugar cane plantations and the nice neighborhood. Most neighbors are farmers who grow cattle, chicken, coffee, fruits and vegetables. A short 100 meters walk from the house will take you to a typical Costa Rican 'pulperia' or little grocery store where you can get freshly baked bread every morning and the basic groceries.
