Family of four, 2 adult parents with 2 adult children, stayed for three days at end of August. Denyse, owner, has a truly wonderful home and, for us, a great location. The house is set down from the driveway and on a sloping hill down to the bottom street. Dog owners and walkers/runners up and about first thing in the mornings. If you want to be on the lake, the trail winds its way but the house itself is not close to real beach access. Lake/Beach access is carefully protected at Lake Arrowhead, which leads to some exclusivity, but Denyse's property comes with beach passes. Tavern Bay Beach, a short drive away, certainly met our needs and there is even a small area where dogs can be off leash when in the water, but must be on-leash to walk around the surrounding park area. The house is close to the walking trail around the lake and into the village. We took walks and morning runs daily. Hiking trails were also close and were vacant with no other hikers. The lake view from the home is from the "white" bedroom upstairs but one can see a sliver of lake from the downstairs back deck. The back deck is peaceful, littered several times daily with hemlock needles from the huge and beautiful trees that arch over the house and deck areas, and with daily sweeping, was the center of our lounging activity from early morning coffee to sunset cocktail hours. The house is well maintained and thoughtfully decorated. Interesting artwork and pieces accent the home, portraying a welcoming style. The kitchen is well-equipped but suggest bringing some good chef knives if you are cooking frequently at home. We ate all our meals in the house and the dining table/bay window area is great!!! Open all windows for the freshest of air!! One frustration: there is no gas grill, so prepare for coal grilling, and while it tastes yummy, the grill set up is not ideal. There is also a small wood burning fire pit on the downstairs stone deck that provided us with a cozy opportunity to make smores after the sun went down. The small TV has every movie channel, with a DVD player, but does not have ESPN and we were eager to follow the US Open. Jensen's grocery is a short walk down and around the road and we took the holiday opportunity to buy steak and ribs right from their barbeque grill. Internet and cell access was perfect. All told, this is a special home and Denyse was extremely easy to communicate with about our questions. We will definitely recommend this home highly to others!

My family and I rented this perfectly sweet and comfortable cabin home in the woods for four days over Thanksgiving. We were three couples, with two infants. The two couples with infants (and pack-n-plays) fit nicely into the two larger rooms while we grandparents had the smaller upstairs room with the full bed (which was quite comfortable). However, we did not spend much time in our rooms because the living area was so inviting that we spent most of our time there. The fireplace was fabulously huge and we kept it going nearly the whole time. The very large dining table gave us plenty of room for all of our feasting as well as the spreading of our domino and card games in the evening. The bedrooms are located on the lower and upper floors, while the middle floor is the living/kitchen/dining area. Therefore, both Early-risers and Night-Owls can get into the kitchen without disturbing those who are asleep in the bedrooms. This arrangement also proved to be very beneficial for napping babies. Neighborhood is perfect for good walking and looking at interesting houses. We were able to park 3 compact cars in the driveway. Kitchen was well-stocked, although could use some more mixing bowls. We brought our own roasting pan for our turkey. We all were absolutely delighted by the charm of this "old" house, including the creaking of the stairs, floors, and doors. Many craftsman-style, hand-wrought wooden features in the beams and other structures. It was fun to imagine all that this house has seen in the 80 years since it was built. The owner was quite helpful in responding to all the questions we had in advance of our stay. Thank you so much, Denyse! We will always have warm and snug memories of our Family Thanksgiving Getaway.

This place is utterly charming. It's a perfect "Cabin in the woods" with designer touches. Comfortable beds, fantastic back patio and porch, and a bug romantic fireplace with huge comfy chairs. We had a fantastic time, and look forward to coming back: The good: All the little amenities, from good soaps and soft towels, to great books and the peace and quiet. The Bad: The Fridge makes noises occasionally. May need to be switched out soon.

Beautifully designed, like a Ralph Lauren-esque cabin, we had a charming and relaxing stay. The home is cozy and warm, and very nicely decorated with designer touches. It's a very romantic place. The back porch is fantastic, like a huge outdoor living room. The Good: Quiet, charming and comfortable. Comfy beds and big oversized chairs and fireplace (though we didn't light a fire in it) The bad: The place needs a new fridge. Overall, we had a great weekend getaway. We'll be back!

Owner response: I am so glad you liked it! It is quite special. The icemaker has been fixed, but a new fridge is being installed this weekend. Thanks for the suggestion, and for taking such good care of the place.! Hope you return soon...it is so beautiful up here this summer! Best regards, Denyset
