Jonathan & Susie's place is nothing less than amazing. It's a beautiful, comfortable place in a wonderful location; the pictures don't do it justice. Lots to see and do in the area, or do nothing at all and just laze about in the magnificent gardens and hot tub. Next time we visit the area, we're staying there! If we could give it more than 5 stars, we would. M&M, MiamiRecommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

"Magic happens in Bilgola! Although we arrived at 10 in the evening,dead tired from a long flight and chilled from the gusts of the evening winds, we were warmly greeted by our kind host Jonathan and all was good with world!Sanctuary Bilgola is indeed just that.You need only cross through the beautiful Bali style gates and you feel like Alice in wonderland! This beautifully appointed apartment is a fantastic example of contemporary architecture meets Bali interior design..comfort as well as all necessities met in each room..space well utilized as you can see from Jonathan and Susie's pictures on their website.The next morning we were able to wake up to the lovely sound of tropical birds and experience the beauty and fragrance of the lovely Balinese inspired gardens..heavenly!!Even on the days it rained(that's spring for you ;)we enjoyed our stay.The cafe up the street was a wonderful source for our morning cappuccinos and some of our meals just as Jonathan suggested.Susie was most helpful with restaurants and places of interest AND...she even did our laundry!!That was above and beyond the call of duty in my books!Jonathan and Susie..we sooooo enjoyed our stay at Sanctuary Bilgola & will be sure to return.It was a pleasure getting to know you,you make Sanctuary Bilgola a magical home away from home.We miss it already!"Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

About the owner: Susie and I have lived in this area for over 25 years, and just love the natural beauty that defines the peninsular, the beaches the ocean, the national parks and most of all the laid back atmosphere of the area. I have travelled extensively, growing up in the beautiful country side in England, however, whenever I fly over the Northern Beaches of Sydney, am always in awe and eternally grateful that this is where we live. We are both very social people, and love to interact with people from all over the world, we love to get out with our friends from BBQing at a local beach to dinner at one of the wonderful restaurants around the area
Why the Owner Chose Avalon:
We designed and rebuilt this property and it's gardens over the last ten years.
It is easily accessible to Sydney by public transport and is only 30 mins to the city by car, though the area has it's own unique flavour, even people from Sydney comment that it feels like a holiday whenever they are on the Northern Beaches.
The property is within 10 minutes of 7 world famous surfing beaches and 2 minutes from the closest.
The Pittwater side of the peninsular is a mecca for sailing, boating, kayaking and fishing.
The far side being part of the magnificent Kuringgai National Park, with it's many walks, bay's and secluded beaches.
It is also a photographers paradise, with many outstanding vistas lending themselves to sunrise and sunset shots.
There is also an abundance of wildlife in particular spectacular birdlife, from Sulphur crested cockatoos, rainbow loriqueets, king parrots to the magnificent Sea Eagles

It has an excellent Deli just 50 metres away which does great coffee, lunches and pre-prepared meals.
The property is your own unique private haven, set in a beautiful tropical water garden bounded by handcrafted Balinese doors. There are so many spots to relax, whether on a day bed, in a hammock or in the spa.
We can recommend you many fine eating spots, some with their own courtesy vehicles
