The owners of Qamea Resort & Spa, a world renowned exclusive island resort in Fiji, have recently finished the renovations on their beach cottage in Hawaii and are offering it for rental.
Located on Oahu's famous North Shore, Waialua Beach Hale is on a quiet and secluded sand beach (you can walk for miles on white sand), in one of Hawaii's original neighborhoods - Waialua. The North Shore's claim to fame last century was the sugar cane industry, but now it is spectacular beaches, surf, and sunsets.
This is an original 1929 beachside cottage that was in the same family since 1929 until we purchased it in 2009. The house has now been fully restored and modernized with all the modern conveniences including air conditioning in all bedrooms for maximium comfort, while at the same time maintaining the charm and character of the plantation era.
Only 45 minutes after you pick up your luggage at Honolulu International Airport, you will be relaxing on your private and quiet 600 sq/ft covered lanai with expansive and unobstructed views of the ocean, beach, and the occasional surfer. From the other side of the house there is an uncovered deck that faces the beautiful Waianae Mountain Range, the tallest mountains on Oahu.
This is a quiet neighborhood that is outside of the madness of most Oahu and other Hawaiian tourist areas. Our beach is incredible, protected by an outer reef, and is frequented by sea turtles. The perfect destination for a relaxing and memorable Hawaiian getaway.

Why the Owner Chose Waialua
Perfect white sand beach, quiet neighborhood, protected beach that is swimmable year round, and close to Honolulu International Airport.
Owner's Map of Waialua
In 2003 we became the owners of Qamea Resort & Spa in Fiji, and we have owned properties on Oahu's North Shore since 1998. Hawaii is our getaway from the craziness of owning a luxury resort, and where we recharge our batteries.
Previously our home was on Sunset Beach, but we moved to Waialua to get away from the massive traffic and tourists. We spend several months a year in Hawaii to relax, unwind, and enjoy what we think is the best that Hawaii has to offer.

We had a great time at this north shore rental. Since it's not on the main drag of the north shore (pipeline, sunset, etc), it's definitely more peaceful, quiet and feels more secluded. It was perfect for our family of four but could also work great for a few couples or even one couple that wanted some more space. Beach right outside was excellent, perfect for swimming and turtle watching. Had all the amenities that we were looking for, wireless access, laundry, 2 tvs (one in bedroom), dvd player, many kitchen utensils and small appliances. Liked that it had a nice, simple, modern feel, not overly beachy decorated. If I had one thing to say on the not so positive (but still not negative) was that the stove and dishwasher were a little hard to use and it would have been nice to have specific directions for first timers in the paperwork for the rental, as well as the wireless access code. We can't wait to go back though, and want to know if this place ever goes up for sale, we loved it that much!

If anything the title under sells this home. The house, grounds and beach are close to perfect.

There were 5 in our party, all adults. Two couples and one single. The layout suited us perfectly, though a family with two or three children would be just as comfortable. The kitchen was modern with upgraded appliances and every dish, pot, pan, flatware, etc that you could need. If you can't find it, look again. It's probably there. Paper goods, laundry and dish detergent, and body wash in the showers are a plus. The beach is incredible! We went out in the evenings to see the sea turtles (Honu) soaking up the warmth from the sand. Swimming and snorkling were challenging because it's January and the North Shore is known for its surf. But the reef in front blocked the waves and we still swam a lot. Go to Opal's Thai restaurant! Tiny and you will wait on weekends but the food and the owner are way worth the wait. BYOB. Also recommend Haleiwa Joes for "fine" dining. Though it is more upscale than Opal the food isn't as good. 10+, five stars, whatever scale you want to use - this place is the pick among North Shore Oahu rentals.

Believe the descriptions and the pictures. This home is not only beautiful but well appointed and maintained. We couldn't be more pleased and will plan to stay here during future trips. The size was perfect for our family. The whole process of renting was handled professionally and communication with the owners was very easy. We would definitely recommend this lovely home to anyone planning a North Shore stay.

We planned a trip to Oahu after my city began offering a direct flight to HNL. It was a lazy decision related to the two busy toddlers that currently rule our life. Generally we seek out more exotic locations that provide opportunities for incredible solitude with a mix of adventure. I have to say I was quite skeptical about going to Oahu to begin with after everyone complained about the crowded beaches and tourist traps. Therefore, we sought out the area that seemed the least traveled, hence Waialua. This little bungalow on the North Shore turned out to be an absolutely perfect abode for my family. My husband and I traveled with our two kids 3 and 10 months and my parents. The extra suite off the lanai was a perfect mother in-law quarters adding additional privacy when needed. The bungalow is incredibly cute, well decorated and very clean. The views from every room are serene. The beach is just steps from the cottage and literally was empty most days we were enjoying it, except for the daily turtles that came up for a rest. The water was safe for swimming with toddlers even after the winter swells began arriving. A very short drive will get you into Haliewa for shopping and restaurants and all the snorkeling, diving, surfing or paddle boarding that you desire. We were able to enjoy some great hiking just west of the cottage to Kaena point and up the Kealia trail to overlook the Waineae valley. Both hikes were nearly in complete solitude. It's easy to get to all the other attractions around the island such as the Polynesian Cultural Center. The owner was extremelycaring and helpful in taking care of a couple of issues that evolved during our stay. Overall the cottage was an absolute gem. We truly enjoyed preparing meals and sharing them on the lanai together as we watched the larger waves begin to roll in. I highly recommend this place if you enjoy feeling like you own the beach.

I almost don't know where to begin. Over 30 years ago I lived and worked at a hospital on Oahu. This charming bungalow brought back those wonderful memories of what old Hawaii was and still can be. The house is located on a gorgeous serene beach. My husband and I actually took a long 5 day weekend and we walked the beach every day for miles of wonderful scenery and the quiet of the beach with only the sound of the ocean. It is not crowded with tourists .We would take our cocktails on the beach in the early evening and enjoy the sunsets sitting on the beach. The house itself is so charming and truly a lovely beach house. It is decorated beautifully with lovely furnishings and so comfortable. My favorite part was opening the sliding doors from the living room to the covered deck overlooking the lawn and beach. You are just steps away from your toes in the sand & water. The deck has a beautiful glass table and chairs for dining. My husband & I enjoyed our meals on the deck with the warm trade winds coming through and the ocean right there. The kitchen is terrific with all new appliances and fully equipped with cooking utensils and dishes, glasses, etc. Everything of the highest quality. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into this house to display comfort and quality. It was a joy to prepare our own meals when we wanted to just sit back and enjoy the quiet and beauty. There is air conditioning, but we just opened the windows and let the trade winds come through. We loved going to sleep at night with the ocean in the background to lull us to sleep, and the lovely trade winds. The gardens are stunning and lawns and gardens are so well taken care of. It was a perfect romantic week. We drove into Haleiwa and the shops are very quaint, ate at Haleiwa Joes. My husband & I have stayed at the owners resort in Fiji several times and that is how we learned about the bungalow and had complete confidence to book. I have already booked to come back this spring for 5 days with girlfriends. I can't wait. Both my husband and I did not want to leave. If any one is looking for a wonderful place to just go and relax and be surrounded by the beauty of Hawaii this is the place. This house is a real charmer and makes you feel like you could stay there forever. Snorkeling was fun too in front of house, and we even saw some sea turtles. We highly recommend this house for anyone wanting beauty, peace, romance and fun....

The property is literally on the beach, it has a large lawn and a beautiful view. The house is in immaculate condition, it was sparkling clean when we arrived. In reality the house is much more beautiful than the photos on the website can show, it's a traditional Hawaiian cottage with all of the luxuries of a modern home. The bathrooms and kitchens are beautiful, the indoor/outdoor living flow is fantastic. There were flat screen TVs in both the lounge and one of the bedrooms. All bedrooms had air-conditioning, which was great at night. It is only a short drive to the cafes and restaurants in the town of Haleiwa, surfing at the beautiful Sunset Beach and great snorkelling at shark's cove. There is a brilliant running track 'Peacock Flats' which runs into the mountains behind the property. The kids loved the giant Hawaiian sea turtles that occasionally visited the beach in front of the house. This place is heaven on earth and we will certainly be back!

Just returned from a week at this beautiful rennovated beach cottage. Photos don't do it justice; it really is a haven from the hustle n bustle of Honolulu! The owners have done a fantastic job with the decorating and maintenance of the yard. Every day you walk out across the manicured lawn to the almost deserted beach. Sunsets looking toward Kaena Point never get boring! Haleiwa town is only 3 minutes away. Snorkeling is good on calm days, though it's a little shallow due the barrier reef. Nearby hiking is great as is watching the skydivers fall from the sky everyday, all day. We loved staying here and would recommend this home to anyone looking for a peaceful stay on the north shore. If there is any drawback, it's that the limit on guests is only 6. So a large family would have to look elsewhere. Many thanks to the owners for sharing their home with us!

This bungalow in Waialua is absolutely stunning. I stayed there for five nights in August with two sisters and our mother. Perfect amount of space for us -cozy but it felt like we each had our own areas. The cottage is beautifully decorated and very well designed. It has everything you could possibly imagine - well-equipped. It's feels like your very own home (if you had a gorgeous house steps from a lovely beach). We spent a lot of time on the beach (got to see a giant see turtle!) and even snorkeled right out back. It was truly an amazing experience. We came right from the Royal Hawaiian to stay here and far preferred our digs here. The town itself is just a quick drive to Haleiwa and everything else on the North Shore. It felt far enough away from the 'action' to be very peaceful. Highly, highly recommended. Very clean. Very beautiful. Absolutely loved it. Thanks, Ron!
