Walk everywhere... only minutes from all of the shopping, restaurants, galleries and attractions in the heart of Nantucket….just five blocks to Main Street, and four blocks to the Harbor. This vintage 1860 Captain's house in the Historic District has been recently restored and updated. Have a real Nantucket experience in a piece of Nantucket history. The house, with its original wide plank pine floors and plaster walls is furnished with antiques…..many of them original to Nantucket from the period that the house was built. There is off street parking for two cars and the property has abundant landscaping.
The design is very true to the original. Upon entering the formal foyer, in addition to the stairway and the door to the living room, there is entry level access to a bedroom with a queen sized bed and a fireplace. This is ideal for those who cannot walk up the stairs to the other bedrooms. Continuing into the living room there is a large fireplace and mantel, a formal dining room with another fireplace and a recently remodeled full bath. Continuing towards the back of the house is the recently renovated kitchen with new appliances and a table that seats eight. Continuing to the rear is a laundry room with a washer/dryer, a back stair to the Master bedroom and access to the rear patio which is landscaped, furnished and has a gas grill.
From the entry foyer you can take the main stairway to the formal upper foyer and from there enter the family room which has a fireplace and a sleep sofa and a plasma TV. On the second floor is the Master Bedroom which has a queen sized bed, a fireplace, and a new private bath with a shower. The Master Bedroom has a back stair that goes down to the Kitchen and Laundry Room. There are two additional Bedrooms on the second floor that share a full bath with a tub/shower. One of the bedrooms has a double bed and a fireplace, the other has two twins.
One of the bedrooms has antique twin beds and is decorated for children. There is a cabinet full of children's books and a small desk where they can draw. The rear yard is enclosed by hedges and a fence...moreless

About the owner: I am a retired architect and have made a hobby/project out of restoring this house.
Why the Owner Chose Nantucket Town: We chose this location because of its proximity to the town and all of the amenities. Our children ranging from 8 to 16 enjoyed being able to walk into town or to the harbor and other than an occasional trip to the grocery store we seldom drove the car.
