Stowe house description
Our beautiful country home, Five Trees, is a special mountain retreat set in the forests of northern Vermont on 10 acres of lawns, gardens and forest. The house has 3 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and sleeps 8+ in bedrooms and separate family room; another 2 in the cabin. This special retreat has an open, fully equipped kitchen with baking nook, large living/dining space with wood stove, office with high speed internet, and a finished basement/playroom with radiant heat.
The house has a dishwasher and washer/dryer. In addition to the interior, there is a large screened porch, as well as numerous decks with views of the gardens and the mountains. A separate, cozy cabin with a sleeping loft and a wood fired stove overlooks the swimming pond. There is also a wood-fired hot tub on the lower deck of the main house. A beautiful trail circles our forest and connects into a longer trail network ideal for cross-country skiing, running, mountain biking and snowshoeing.
Five Trees is located about 15-20 mins from Stowe, 30 mins from Smugglers Notch, and 1 hour from Burlington. The area is wonderful for hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking/canoeing, skiing (cross country and downhill), skating, and snowshoeing. No pets, no smoking. 1 hour from Burlington, 2 hours from Montreal, 3 hours from Boston.
This is the perfect spot for truly memorable family getaways, from the peace and serenity of the country to unparralleled outdoor adventure to the most amazing night sky anywhere.

- Miles and miles of hiking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing and adventuring. We have a beautiful trail that connects into the VAST and Catamount trail systems, directly adjoining the property, which provides for hours of exploration all year long. In the summer, two big bonfire sites on the property allow for celebrating the end of a great day. 10 acres for exploration, including gardens and huge yard for family games. Swimming pond with diving rocks, floating raft and dock, ice skating in winter. Elmore Mountain State Park is 1.5 miles up the road with great mountain hiking (fire tower), forests and sandy beach. Trails for mountain biking and great roads for biking. Lamoille River 2.5 miles in the other direction- great for canoeing (feel free to use our canoe). Good antiquing, great small towns to explore and really phenomenal food all around....moreless

A sweet home in a beautiful setting
A sweet home in a beautiful setting
We just came back from a lovely, memorable Christmas break in northern Vermont. The house is comfortable and picturesque and the grounds stunning. Stowe received some 40" of snow just before and during our stay, so the skiing was first rate. Let alone the hikes on any of the numerous trails around the house. I can't imagine how beautiful it must be in summer. As for amenities, everything is provided and cooking big meals and sitting around the fire were the centerpiece of our week. In all, a perfect vacation - I would go back many times over.

Great Family House with Pond
Great Family House with Pond
My family, 3 generations, stayed in this house for a wonderful week. Nine of us slept here very comfortably. My granddaughters, 11 and 8 years old, loved the pond; they were in it from right after breakfast until dark, even in the rain. When they tired of splashing and swimming, they enjoyed catching frogs and tadpoles. There's a comfortably furnished screened in porch through which a cool breeze blows, looking out on the pond and lovely mountain views. You cannot see the house from the road. The house comes with a canoe and foam blocks for carrying it on your vehicle. We took it to Green River Reservoir State Park, an incredibly beautiful and quiet lake (no motors) where you can paddle for the day or camp overnight. We also canoed down the pleasant Lemoille River. Lake Elmore State Park for swimming, paddling and hiking is just down the road. There's a small general store near Lake Elmore as well as two supermarkets in nearby Morrisville. This is the best vacation house we've ever stayed at and we plan to come back.

We are not skiers, but had family events scheduled in Northern VT and decided against staying at a hotel. This was far, far nicer! Cozy wood stove, gorgeous views, well located. We would definitely stay there again!
