We just got home from a 4 day stay in Hammonsport. The guest house was beautiful. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. The house was clean, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. There were many amentities that added to the overall experience. We appreciated that thoughtfulness. We especially loved the pastries, and in fact went there for breakfast every day. We would love to visit again, thank you for helping make this a very enjoyable experience.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

What a find! This charming guest house was just perfect. My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway for my birthday. He heard Hammondsport was voted the 'coolest small town in America' and he decided to take us to check it out and it didn't disappoint --- a sweet little town that harkens back to simpler times; a lovely lake, wineries, pottery, good food (the Italian Bistro was awesome), little antique shops, a bit of fun kitsch, etc. But I'm sure my husband's biggest challenge wasn't finding a cool town but rather living up to my, admittedly, OCD nature regarding cleanliness. I never travel light because I have to bring my own linens, cleaning products, etc in case the place we visit doesn't live up to my germ inspection....yes, I even annoy myself. But upon stepping inside Wes and Rita's place, I was instantly at ease --- it was immaculate! Couldn't have done better myself. And they did so many nice things to make us feel welcomed like fresh flowers, a box of pastries for the morning, creamer, juice, and ice tea in the fridge! Awesome! I even loved the bed sheets----high thread count, crisp, wonderfully white. Just perfect! Can you tell I was impressed? My husband loved that 'he had knocked it out of the park'. By the way, the pictures on the web site do not do this place justice. The guesthouse is infinitely more delightful in person! Thank you Wes and Rita for providing such a lovely place for your guests. We felt pampered and your home enhanced our magical weekend.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

Amazing accommodations! Attention to every detail. Felt like we were at our 2nd home. Extremely comfortable beds and only 2 short blocks to downtown Hammondsport. Walked to a delicious dinner. Great shopping downtown. Also only a short drive to excellent wineries. Highly recommend this rental and plan to come back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We wanted to take a last minute weekend trip. We found the Hammondsport Guest House on line and booked with Rita and Wes. All the reviews are 100% accurate. This property is wonderful! We felt at home immediately and settled in comfortably. We wandered through Hammondsport over the weekend and had a wonderful time. Rita and Wes have made every effort to make this house a home away from home for everyone. We will be back very soon.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Hammondsport was recently voted the coolest small town in the US, and we found this to be the coolest small getaway house in the US! The owners have made it a home away from home--every little thing we could have wanted was at our fingertips, including a welcome basket of fruit and local pastries and just-cut garden zinnias in the vintage vase. Things could not have been more charming, quiet and comfortable and the location was perfect for us. So laid back. Stroll into town for a lovely meal--breakfast, lunch or dinner or take off to explore the area. Hiking, wine-ing, dining and meeting some very engaging people made our autumn week fly by. We'd highly recommend this property, although we'd love to keep it a secret! Our thanks to owners Rita and Wes for offering such a gracious guesthouse.Did you find this review helpful? This is the second year that my wife and I visited Keuka Lake and stayed at the Guest House, and just like the first time this house is perfect for us. We came by ourselves this year, but this house would also suit two couples or a family of 4. The classic house is beautifully restored by Wes and Rita who provide all of the perfect extra touches that make staying there special. The location is ultra convenient to anywhere in the village, and close to all of the Keuka wineries and attractions. Good dining options would be either the Union Block, Champage BBQ. Pelican's nest (seafood) or even the Cafe at Bully Hill, but with the fully equipped (and I mean everthing) kitchen, eating in is very easy too. We will stay here every time that we visit the Keuka Lake area.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We (two couples) spent seven days using the Guest House as our base for many fall day trips in the Finger Lakes. It is a charming house in a charming town in the quietest location. Rita's cottage decor complements the house perfectly. It was warm, cozy, and most comfortable for the four of us and each couple had enough privacy with sleeping quarters on different floors. We especially loved the eating area with it's expanse of windows. Most importantly, the mattresses were comfy and plush with fresh crisp clean sheets insuring quality sleep. The Hunters have done this place right! Every detail has been thought of with cleanliness the top priority. Needless to say we'd return again and highly recommend others to stay here as well. We can't think of a single improvement that's necessary.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Hammondsport Guest House - It doesn't get any better than this! Comfortable, clean, beautifully decorated and located on a quiet street only a short walk from the shops and restaurants in the village. Wes & Rita are great hosts from the moment they personally greet you, to be certain you are familiar with the features of the house and the local area. They are only a phone call away for whatever you need. Thanks to Wes, Rita and all the friendly people of Hammondsport (indeed all around the Finger Lakes) we couldn't have been happier. The local wineries and restaurants are awesome. We've already inquired about a return stay. We had another couple with us and the accomodations were perfect and afforded everyone adequate privacy.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: Rita and I are both retired and enjoy the attractions of the area. We live in Hammondsport year round and enjoy all four seasons. Our home is just two blocks from the Hammondsport Guest House so we are able to quickly respond to potential problems that you may encounter. It is our goal to provide a comfortable setting for visitors to Hammondsport so that they will be able to enjoy the village and the lake as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Hammondsport:
We have been coming to Hammondsport for over 10 years and in 2010 we moved here full time. We are retired and we want others to enjoy Hammondsport as much as we enjoy it. Living in a small village has many advantages and we enjoy them daily. The Finger Lakes Trail passes by Hammondsport and is a well-maintained hiking trail that Wegman's Food Markets has indorsed. It provides an opportunity to explore the hills and streams that surround the lake and enjoy nature’s beauty.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The Wine Trails in the area are very famous. There are over 100 wineries in the Finger Lakes Region. Several Breweries are close by. The Curtis Museum is an experience that you will not want to miss. If you like antiques, start at the Opera House Antique Shop. Several other antiques shops are in the village and one is an easy drive on Route 54. There are some outstanding restaurants in the center of Hammondsport. They are all located in the center of Hammondsport which is just two blocks from the Hammondsport Guest House. Keuka Lake has all the water sports available for a vacation. There are places close by to rent boats for sport or fishing. There is a dinner boat that sails on Keuka Lake from Branchport. There will be a farmer's market every Wednesday and Saturday at Liberty Park from 9 am to 5 pm throughout the summer.
