Located in the famous Alfama district, within a wing of a 17th century palace, this apartment is a classic mix of elegance, comfort and style. For over 800 years the palace and this apartment are still owned by the same family. Welcoming, and helpful they will make sure your stay is enjoyable and exceeds your expectations. Teeming with life, history, charm, bars, music, service amenities, restaurants, vistas, the apartment's location is a walkers delight. I have rented VRBO apartments around the world, but everything about this apartment, it's location, its charm, the owners, made my month in Lisbon memorable. I am confident, your stay will be to. No need to say more.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Delightful apartment with excellent patio area in a great location. The owner is most helpful with suggestions on sightseeing, local restaurants etc. A restful and rewarding stay. Note it is hard to find at first in the winding streets of Alfama and it may be best to ask the taxi driver to phone the owner for guidance to the apartment - have the telephone number handy.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We had a wonderful visit at this lovely apartment. It was everything it is shown to be plus more. We were two couples in our late 60's traveling together. You do need to negotiate some stairs. The unit is very nicely furnished and comfortable. It has a patio area walled off from the street that's perfect for morning coffee and evening cocktails. Small local groceries and restaurants are steps away. The owner offered to arrange transportation to and from the airport (additional fee). I would suggest that option, as it would be hard to locate the rental unless you know the area well. The welcome service and support we received from the owner really added to our stay. We only wish we had planned to stay longer. We highly recommend this property!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in this property in mid June this year ( 2011). We wanted a 2 bedrm, 2 bath as we were 2 adult couples. The property far exceeded our expectations. It is an outstanding unit with classic furnishings in an old historic buildings. It has a lovely garden area walled off from the street. Small local groceries and restaurants are minutes away.Try Fado Manor! The apartment was just as it appeared in the photos, and very clean and well maintained. The owner offered to arrange transportation to and from the airport (additional fee). I would suggest that option, as it would be hard to locate the rental unless you know the area well. I would strongly recommend this rental. The unit is one level , with easy access from the street level (only a few stairs). However, the rental is located in a steep, hilly area. A hill ( or many steps) seperate the unit from the main street. A physically challanged person might have difficulty with the location. Would recommend the Tile Museum, located in an old convent, and be sure to find the Miradouro of Santa Luzia, beautiful views of the city.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My partner and I stayed in this apartment for 6 weeks while in Lisbon and really loved it. It’s made up of two halves, a wonderfully decorated and authentic-feeling traditional style living room and first bedroom contrasting with an ultra modern, well fitted kitchen and second bedroom. There’s a lot of natural light, specially in the living room, which we really liked. The little courtyard outside is a super place to laze in the afternoon sun or have sundowner drinks in the evening. It is situated in the quiet winding streets of Alfama, one of the older parts of the city. We truly felt like we were living in a small town with the little cafes and restaurants close by. If you’re looking for traditional Fado music you’ll find several options very close by. It is very safe to walk around, even late at night. We frequently walked to and from the centre of town (about 20 minutes), alternately a cab costs about 5 Euros to almost anywhere in the city. Elderly or disabled travellers should consider that there are many hills in Lisbon and should plan around that. The mother and daughter team that run it are very professional and friendly. They helped us with many tourist type queries during our stay and made sure we had absolutely everything we needed in the apartment too. This was our favourite apartment to date of the many we have stayed in from VRBO.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, girls getaway, sightseeing.
