COUNTRY FARMHOUSE – REMOTE BUT CLOSE TO EVERYTHING
Come springtime, daffodils fill the front yard flowerbed, ferns and hostas begin to line the driveway, then come the peonies and lilacs just as the daffodils are fading. Slowly but surely bright colors and lush greens encompass this little Berkshire gem.
There are countless ways to relax in this house. For those who want to just sit and smell the flowers, the private back-porch gets full morning sun while the front-porch gets bold, beautiful late afternoon and evening sun. And for those who seek adventure you are surrounded with opportunity. Located in a picturesque, New England village, this house is directly across the street from a highly acclaimed country store and café that serves everything from your morning latte and New York Times to an eclectic seasonal dinner and lunch menu; for city dwellers, adventure seekers or solitude needers looking for a relaxing country getaway in the Berkshires it doesn’t get any better.
Waterfalls and forests couldn’t be closer: hikes, lakes, fishing, camping are all within 1-5 miles (York Lake, Campbell Falls State Park, Lake Buell, Beartown State Park, Haystack Mountain). Music, Theater, Arts are just around the corner with Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow, Shakespeare & Co, Berkshire Theater Festival all within 5-20 miles. Shopping, restaurants, galleries (in Lenox, Stockbridge, Lee and Great Barrington) are a hop, skip and a jump, all within 10-15 miles.
AN INVITING, HIP HOME
The house itself is in perfect condition, furnished with antique and designer furniture, international collectibles, and period-specific upgrades. This seemingly quaint country home sparkles with worldly flare and sophistication. A perfect space to enjoy the peaceful silence or to entertain guests. The pictures can speak for themselves.
An ideal size for a couple or small family, the house can expand comfortably for visiting family and friends. The two main bedrooms on the second floor (with queen-size bed and two twins) are clean and bright. A small third bedroom has a single twin for sleeping but can be converted easily into an office, yoga studio or nursery. A queen-size futon is in the library on the first floor. New wide-plank pine hardwood floors cover the entire first floor, matching the original hardwood floors upstairs.
The first floor has an open, spacious floor plan. The kitchen extends into the dining area and then a wide opening divides but doesn’t close off the living room. A small, library offers a private sanctuary off the living room. With windows on each floor facing east, south, and west the sunlight brightens the house from dawn until dusk. The entire house and barn were sealed and repainted in October 2010.
The integrity of the house and the barn have been maintained beautifully. The main house has a new furnace and foundation. The barn’s floors and roof have been stabilized and renewed. An ideal workshop, studio, practice space or hideout.

This house was perfect for my trip to the Berkshires. I am a singer and was performing at Tanglewood and needed a place to stay and was thrilled to stay here. I worked on my music on both the front and back porches out in the sunshine and loved the beautiful surroundings. Staying here is also an amazing way to experience the Southfield Store which is across the street. The cute cafe was a great spot for any meal of the day (and for snacks) Liz and Nate were very easy to work with and they also have a great collection of books at the house.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
