Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2007

We both have a keen interest in History and a love for old buildings. Brendan and I have long been collectors of antiques and militaria. We have both travelled extensivley and have enjoyed collecting the many interesting bits and pieces you will find at Turin Castle.

Why the Owner Chose Ballinrobe

We have always had a great fondness for the West of Ireland. We saw Turin Castle and were instantly captivated by the beauty of the area. We purchased the property in 2007 from a local man who had restored the property. The interior needed refurbishment so we set about employing the services of local trandesmen to upgrade the plumbing and electrics. There are 5 bedrooms at the castle and all the bedrooms are ensuite and heated by electric storage heaters, while both the great hall and top floor sitting rooms have wood burning stoves. We have collected many artifacts from around the world to make Turin Castle authentic but also comfortable. Mayo is truly a beautiful part of Ireland.

The Unique Benefits of this Castle

Beautiful countryside, warm and friendly people. Ideal for fishing, site seeing and a great base for touring the West of Ireland
