We stayed at this property and found some great restaurants just around the corner. The home was charming San Francisco- Lower Haight- architecture and it was very clean. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was really perfect for cooking and dining. There were lots of dishes and pots and pans available for cooking. We loved the old fashioned stove! The bathroom was newly remodeled and very nice- great shower too. We were in town to attend a family reunion/ party and it was the perfect location for us. It is near Duboce Park and there were interesting older historic homes and cute shops to walk by on the way to the park. It is a quick and easy drive to Golden Gate Park and transit is close as well. We enjoyed walking in the immediate neighborhood and heading over towards Hayes Valley from the house. The washer and dryer made life so easy with a baby. Heating was good- with some space heaters in the bedrooms, a nice bathroom heater and a larger heater in the living room. We were quite comfy and the price was reasonable. Anne was very attentive and checked in to make sure all was well and that we had no trouble with access. Access was easy- with a lock box on the outside of a locked gate. She had some books on San Francisco, that we enjoyed. She was very gracious. Two of our group had down allergies and though the beds had cozy down comforters, there were also alternatives available, which was nice, since I had forgotten to pack blankets due to the allergies. Plenty of towels, and they were soft and plush. Just all round a great place to stay and feel like a local San Franciscan. I would recommend it to family and friends for its quiet location, closeness to transit and Golden Gate Park, the De Young Museum, the Academy of Science, and for its cleanliness and its comfortable appeal. I read someone's review about the steepness of the stairs- they were normal San Francisco- there was a good rail and she had a child gate at the top- which was nice for children or sleep walkers. These stairs curved and were quite safe. If you have trouble with stairs in general though, you would probably prefer a downstairs rental, but we liked being up above the street and looking out.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The location is close to the trains and buses, local coffee shops and restaurants, grocery stores and a lovely park. The owner is responsive to requests (ex: one of our space heaters was not functioning and Anne quickly dropped off an alternate). The condo is cozy and beds are comfortable. The area is safe too. We enjoyed our stay but have to disclose a few drawbacks. 1.) When we arrived, the condo was not at all clean. (Ex: Hairs in bedding; refrigerator had shellfish casings or onion shells scattered in the drawers). 2.) Steep staircase inside condo with broken security gate so be careful at night or with kids 3.) Many homeaways have a keyless lock on the front door for security and when new tenants come, the code is changed for their arrival. This condo had a gate with a lockbox which stored a key that could open both the gate and front door. It occured to us that any former tenant could have just copied the key and could let themselves in. Keyless entry on the front door is more secure!Owner response: The apartment is cleaned, floors washed, and linens are put on fresh for each visit and I respond immediately to any problems I am told about. The stairs are normal, so not sure what is meant by steep. The security gate is not broken. Will take suggestion about keyless entry under advisement.

Anne's place was absolutely perfect for our long weekend trip in SF. We came as two couples, each with a baby. The apartment is clean and well-maintained, with comfortable beds and cute, funky details. The kitchen well-stocked with literally everything we needed for cooking, including spices and condiments. It was also very baby-friendly, with a portable crib and a safety gate for the stairs. Truly a home away from home! We loved the location-- a quiet, safe street but so close to good restaurants, shops, grocery stores, parks, and public transit. Anne was very responsive to all questions, and checked in on us during our stay. We would highly recommend this apartment to anyone, and hope to use it again if we are back in SF!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Ann's place is comfortable and nicely located. We were quite happy with our choice. It is a bit funky and idiosyncratic, but attractive, well-equipped and clean. The bistro down the street is excellent, as is the Thai restaurant, and there are several other good places to eat very nearby. Haight Street, one block away, has buses to just about anywhere you might want to go.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

This walk-up flat is in the perfect location in Lower Haight, one street away from shops and restaurants and a short walk to the Haight district proper. It has tons of character and very comfortable couches and beds. The modern bathroom has a toe-warmer heater, perfect in the am as the flat got a little chilly at night with only having individual heaters in each room. The street itself isn't labeled, so we gave our taxi drivers the cross street at Haight and it worked fine to walk the block to home (also, only a $10 cab ride into downtown, perfect!) I would recommend this location to friends and would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife and I were in SF recently and had a wonderful time. Anne was a very gracious and helpful hostess. The place was very clean and comfortable. The neighborhood was very safe. We were able to get around easily with public transit. Parking was a little issue but we found a spot on Fell street and did not have to move it. But it was four blocks away. We would certainly return.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway.

My husband and teenage twins and I spent 3 nights in this delightful apartment. Located in the Haight neighborhood, it was very convenient to public transportation and close to a number of good restaurants. If you enjoy interesting architecture and murals, you'll have a fun time walking around the neighborhood. The apartment itself was just right for us. When we returned from exploring, it felt very homey. We enjoyed relaxing on the comfortable couches. We didn't make much use of the kitchen (I was REALLY on vacation!) but it had everything you could need. Anne made everything easy, giving lots of information about things in the apartment as well as ways of getting around, places to eat, etc. Given the chance to visit San Francisco again, we'd definitely stay in this apartment!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We stayed in Anne's place for a 3 day getaway. Anne's flat was roomy and bright, a fantastic place to stay. I traveled with my sister and 2 adult nephews. We had plenty of space for sleeping and hanging out. We cooked, listened to music and enjoyed Anne's extensive book collection. Did I mention the vintage cast iron stove, simply delightful. Lots of clean linens, closet space and a washer/dryer. Anne left detailed instructions on wifi access, fireplace, stove, tv and radio. The neighborhood was filled with hidden gems such as Cafe International, restaurants, shops and pubs. Street parking was a bit of a challenge but we did find a spot a block away where we parked the entire weekend. Close to public transportation and convenient taxi service available. No yard for young children but there was a park nearby. Nice central location for exploring the city. My previous review talked about low water pressure which Anne was kind enough to explain is part of San Francisco's water conservation efforts. I will definitely stay here again and can't wait to come back. We loved it!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Plenty of room for hanging out & cooking. Slow water pressure in shower so I opted to bathe instead. Bed was clean and cozy. Near bus lines and restaurants. Quiet area but parking was a challenge to say the least. Nowhere for young kids to play outside, but near public parks. Also not good for mobility impaired. Overall a good place to stay away from the center of the city. I would recommend to couples and friend's getaways.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Owner info
About the owner: I’ve lived in San Francisco for over 25 years and will be glad to answer any questions you might have about your trip.
Why the Owner Chose Lower Haight:
I am retirement age and find myself away from San Francisco more often these days. Although I love my home and San Francisco, I also like to travel. A friend suggested I try VRBO. Now I rent my home to guests like you while I am away. When home I am usually working to upgrade and refresh the house. I hope you will enjoy the results!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
Laussat Street is not only a quiet block in the Lower Haight, it is a friendly street where the neighbors know and like each other! This lively and interesting area has everything you need within walking distance or a convenient bus ride. The Octavia Street freeway ramp toward the Bay Bridge or going south is just a few blocks away.
