This home is well equipped with everything you may need for your getaway. It is clean and the decor is adorable. The owners are easy to get in contact with and quick to fix any problems that may arise. The pool and hot tub were kept very clean and the kids had a blast fishing on the canal. It is very quiet and peaceful. Just a short walk or drive to the beach. We had a blast.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with young children.

My family and I stayed at the Carolina Inn My Mind the last week of June. We loved it. True relaxation! The pool and jacuzzi were very clean and well maintained. The house was lovely. Our boys loved the crab pots that were out back at the dock. They wound up catching around 12 Blue Crab and 12 Brim, 1 Catfish and a turtle. The kayak was a nice addition. Easy to get in and out of. The only downside is , it is around 20-30 minutes to get to the hardtop road. We knew this going in and we packed and brought everything we needed. We didn't leave until Wednesday (day 5) to venture out. When we did we stayed out all day. You definetly will not run up the street to grab a soda. The last night we ordered from the 4x4 Beach Road pizza place. They delivered to mile marker 20. Food was good and beat having to fight high tide . Strong suggestion to drive during low tide. High tide you have to stand in the loose sand and it can wear you out. Another suggestion is to use Mile Marker 18 or 19 to get to the house. We saw a bunch of folks get stuck using the mile markers suggested by the home owners. We did fine since we had manual 4x4. If you have an AWD vehicle, or have traction control on your vehicle you will get stuck. Be sure to turn off your traction control and take air out of your tires. We saw TONS of horses everyday. They are amazing in the way they interact. Truly enjoyed the views. We couldn't see the ocean from the house but it was nice to be able to sit on the back deck and watch the kids fish, crab, swim etc ... We didn't even miss the view of the ocean. The hammocks and rocking chairs on the porches were very relaxing. There is a very strong odor in the water. It's all over Carova Beach and not just this house. Highly recommend drinking water. Our boys voted this the #1 vacation ever. We loved the peace and quiet this house brings. Kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc... The homeowner was fabulous to work with. Any questions I had was expediciously answered. If you have questions all you have to do is pick up the phone and ask! We look forward to coming back to Carova Beach and Carolina Inn My Mind year after year. This is truly where memories are made!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This house is the best! If you are a casual couple or family into chilling out in amazing Carova, you will not be disappointed with your stay at Carolina Inn My Mind! New and tastefully, but more importantly, comfortably decorated, this home has every convenience you could possibly think of. Carolina Inn My Mind is a place where you can loaf around and never get bored. We took the kayak out through the canals and explored our way out to the sound, fished and caught a catfish and a blue crab, and enjoyed tossing the horseshoes near the dock. The hot tub was a huge bonus as we had a few chilly nights. We strolled to the beach every day the weather allowed, just a quick and enjoyable walk to the most quiet and remote shoreline to just breathe and collect your thoughts. The shelling was INCREDIBLE as Irene has just barreled up the coast a few weeks earlier. I never collected so many shells in all my life, even found a whole sand dollar and conch! Beach chairs and some surf casting supplies at the house were a thoughtful amenity. We saw the horses every day, several times a day ... such a beautiful sight ... and it was fun to hang out on the porches and decks to get the best views of them. Cooking was fun, even doing laundry was fun, with all the easy features of this friendly house. And for the few times we wanted a reality check, the WIFI made it easy to check in with home and office.and the large screen TV in the great room provided all the local news and network shows. We love Carova Beach. It's the kind of place that keeps calling us back. We're from the NC mountains and we always have Carolina Inn our Mind. The owner is friendly and helpful. Couldn't have been a more perfect vacation! Thanks Brenda and Jim for this very special place!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We enjoyed the your new home for 2011, everything was as expected and stocked as your other home in Carova is. Only thing I wish you could change, was the hurricane. Would recommend this property to anyone, thanks for another summers end vacation.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: We thankfully had no damage from Irene, however beaches further south were not so lucky and the roads were closed getting to the house. Next time you will need to boat over to get there - that saves alot of time. We are glad to be able to share our homes with your family and friends. Come back soon!

This rental home had several pros and cons. Let me start with the cons. Since it was so new, the landscaping around the home was non-existent. Except for the pool area which was concrete, there were occasional haphazard stepping stones, but really no walk ways to detract sand from going every where. The worst part was that we found multiple nails lying all around the property and were very lucky to have no punctures! In fact having the kids "hunt" for nails was how we dealt with that. Although the proximity to the horses was a cool feature, the horse 'manure' in the horseshoe pit and other areas of the yards was pretty nasty!! Don't walk barefoot around this property!! Another warning, which the owners will give renters, is that some find the water to have an unpleasant odor. That's putting it mildly! You turn the water on and wonder where the smell is coming from?? We originally assumed it was a sewage leak of some sort! It was very tough to brush my teeth with that stench! The TVs and audio equipment seem nice if you could get any of it to work properly - which we did not. The six beach chairs are more like camping chairs and not comfortable on the beach if you want to recline. Although it is a new house, many of the furnishings definitely were not. In particular the master bed had an old, gross mattress cover that we had to flip over (won't go into graphic details). The couch was not in great shape. Also, a table on the screened in patio seemed to already have a broken leg that was propped up and lasted about a day (for which our deposit was partially held back!!). As for the pros, the location is nice. The 4WD beach is lovely! The kitchen is very well stocked and the various patios are nice.Recommended for: Pet owners.
Owner response: Carova Beach is known for it natural habitat and wild horses. We are lucky to be the last beach to have the wild horses roaming free. When horses come to visit every day they will always leave "presents". This guest should not stay in this area if they were looking for landscaping and no horses. We built this home new 2011 and all of the linens, appliances and beds covers were new. We do enjoy reusing, repurposing quality unique pieces of furniture and our guests have complemented us on our decor which is not the standard "hotel" furniture. I am sorry this guest had these issues, however if we had been notified of these issues during their stay, we would have corrected them immediately. Unfortunately this guest posted a negative review because we kept a fraction of their security because of damage they did during their stay. we were never notified of any the issues that they had with the property during their stay. We could have helped them learn how to use the upgrade stereo system with surround sound, built in speakers and outdoor speakers, tv's & Dvd player.

Charming Home! Love the decor! The pool and hot tub were a huge plus. Great porches to relax on. Beds were very comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked for all cooking and dining needs, plus the two fridges in the house really helped. We enjoyed the 2 seater kayak. House is in a great location,on the canal but directly, easily straight to the beach unlike some canal homes that are nestled more in the back rough roads. Horses were in the yard daily and nightly. Nice place!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: We are from Coatesville, PA and have been traveling to the Outer Banks for 15 years. Our friend first built a house in Corolla 1995. We stayed there and would take day trips to the Carova Beach area. That is when we decided that we wanted to be there permanently. We were lucky enough to be able to build our first house in 2003 and then to be able to build our 2nd home on the canal in 2011.
Why the Owner Chose Carova Beach:
If you want more to do at the beach then just go to the beach a canal front home is for you. You can fish/crab/kayak from your back yard. This home has a large ground floor decking to enjoy the canal
