Indian Bay Hide Away: Secluded Log Home Sportsmen/Groups
- Minimum stay:3 nights

Have your own 'resort' get away in a true log cabin. Muskie, bass, walleye, and panfish are all a stones-throw away. Discounted guided trips are available from me personally. There's room for everyone and no worry of being stuck in the mud; the entire property is covered with material from the mines! Huge master suite with walk-in bath and all new hickory cabinets in the kitchen. Enjoy nature with no neighbors in sight. Three boat launches close by and several great bar/restaurants.
Sit on the deck and watch the deer or enjoy the huge fire pit on top of the ' Boulder wall '. This is truely a unique experience that you will want to share with your family and friends.

We rented this wonderful cabin for a snowmobiling get-away. We were so pleasantly surprised at the beautiful, clean, secluded cabin. It is everything you could ask for!!!! Thanks for sharing this with us!! The snowmobiling trails are beautiful in this area also. We hope to come back again soon!!! The cabin was exactly what the owner said it was and he was very helpful to us in every way.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The cabin was fantastic! Everything you could possibly want - it had! It was comfortable with plenty of room - and we had 6 people staying in it. It was also very private and away from the road - nice and peaceful. We spent time hanging out on the deck, and had a fire just about every night. We had great weather the week we were there - we couldn't have asked for much better - plus Vermilion is a great fishing lake. Cook is also close, which was a big convenience. One thing that we did, that actually worked out nicely was that we kept our boats at Timbuktu Marina - which is just 3 miles up Oak Narrows road - they have bait, gas and some grocery items - so that was very convenient as well. We can't thank you enough for sharing this beautiful cabin - we definitely plan on returning!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This was the first time our family passed on the resort atmosphere and "gambled" on a private cabin. The pictures did not do the place justice; it's amazing how much effort went into this place. The spiral stairs and baby gate are beautiful. There was plenty of room for the kids to ride the 4 wheeler and we had a camp fire each night. The kids got a kick out of watching the deer each morning from the deck window. I look forward to making this our new annual destination.Recommended for: Age 55+, people with disabilities, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Misleading/Strange Experience

Misleading-there is no boat plug-ins at the dock. The boat plug-ins are at the cabin which is just under a 1/2 mile from cabin door-down the driveway-across 55mph road-walk along 55mph road until you come to the private boardwalk (which is shared by another person who owns a portion of the dock)-then just about 300 yards down the boardwalk you come to your dock. The dock is in good shape but is not well supported. The dock is very wobbly. There is no boat lift to use at the dock but was listed in this ad. No detailed fishing/hazard maps were provided to us as also listed. There is a reason there is no "on top of the hill" view of the lake because you would need to climb a steep sandy cliff and then make your way through trees and weeds to get the limited glimpse of the lake. The cabin lists a TV but you would need to bring your own antennae or dish to view anything other than DVDS. Strange-had to fill out a contract and send in deposit. Deposit was cashed right away. Then full amount was due prior to arrival. First time I have ever filled out a contract, paid full amount prior to stay or had my deposit cashed before my stay. I have checked out of the cabin but I am still waiting to receive my deposit. . It is a location the average Joe can afford because it is not on the lake. This cabin is for someone that enjoys woods and being away from water. The cabin is too far from the lake for serious fisherman or water enthusiasts. The cabin is still under construction-bathroom mirrors are not hung, spiral stair case is supported with 2x4's wedged underneath, and the master bedroom has a plywood floor with a 2" toe stubbing lip into the bathroom tile floor. This cabin might work for you but not for my group. I have been traveling to "up north" cabins and resorts for the past 17 years and have never felt this duped or unhappy about the experience. This cabin itself might work for you and when it is done should be very nice.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.
Owner response: Why is it that the one review a guest submits has to come from a guy like this. We have had the cabin rented 14 times and received great reviews in our guest book each time; yet this guy decribes the place like an unfinished shack. All I can say is look at the pictures and feel free to ask for referalls. His major complaint was that I "lied" about having power at the dock. I personally installed outlets on the front and back of the cabin for boat plugins and never mentioned power at the dock. FYI: We will be purchasing a solar powered charger once the lift is installed. Each bedroom has been wired for TV but they have not been purchased yet. I am installing a flatscreen in the master suit in the next week. Apparently, this "serious fisherman" can't live without plush carpet, vanity mirrors or a flastscreen in every room. He must have also missed the map that hangs on the wall with several hotspots marked from my personal experience. I'm guessing the fishfly hatch dampened his fishing experience and he decided to take his frustrations out on his review. The one advantage about renting out your cabin privately is that you can ban people like this. If you decide to rent "Indian Bay Hide Away", mention the review from the "Serious Fisherman" and I'll knock off $25.00 just to prove a point.

The property was wonderful; it was clean, modern, and well-stocked with needed kitchen items. All eight of us who stayed at the cabin had a great time, and would certainly consider staying at this rental unit again. The owner was very helpful. The only problem we had was the gas grill didn't work. A suggestion we'd make would be to make sure there were some kind of instructions on how to find the lake access. The photos on the site showed a boardwalk access, but we didn't find that until the last night of our stay--not that we looked very hard since the weather was rainy and we didn't have time to do much exploring.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

About the owner: I have been in the waste removal business for 20 years and also own Jason's Fishin Addiction Guide Service. I enjoy showing folks all the wonders of Lake Vermilion and providing them with 1st class accomidations that the average Joe can afford. I believe it's important to spend time as a family, couple or group of friends in a wonderful atmosphere that this area offers. Not only do I hope my renters become repeat customers, I hope they become life-long friends as well.
Why the Owner Chose Cook:
Finding acreage near Lake Vermilion that a person can afford is next to impossible. My background and resources enabled me to transform a piece of property that most folks passed up due to the extensive work required. I was fortunate to have the time and resources to dedicate myself to this project; knowing that it would bring joy to all those who visit.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Indian Bay Hide Away has all the comforts of home while keeping that 'up-North' feel. Unlike the typical resort setting, you have no units next to you that can see everything you do. I also provide detailed lake maps to my clients that show fishing spots and hidden hazardous areas! All the revenue we receive goes back into the property for future improvements.
