Full kitchen with dishwasher and microwave. AC. Each BR has a full bed that sleeps two. Dock space is provided. Covered boat lift optional.

Potato Lake is 2100 acres in size and the largest lake on the premier three-lake chain (Potato, Eagle and Island Lakes) in the destination resort community of Park Rapids. Potato Lake is known to produce large and numerous walleyes. Just five minutes from from town and ten minutes to Dorset, known for its restaurants and its annual “Taste of Minnesota” celebration. Numerous golf courses close by.

We came to Minnesota and Sunset cottages in Park Rapids to get away from the stresses of big city life. I had just been diagnosed with type two diabetes and was ordered by my doctor to lose weight and get in shape. This setting was perfect for me. We found the best walking and cycling trails in the country and great super markets to get fresh organic fruit and vegetables. I walked 6 miles a day and rode a bike from Park Rapids to Nevis on the Heartland trail. My mental and physical health have never been better. The totally stress free environment was the cure for me. My wife had been sick for 6 months and was sick when we arrived. She has a very stressful job and being in this beautiful and peaceful lake front cottage helped us both find the balance that was lacking in our lives. Within a week she was feeling better and is now healthy. We have a pontoon for fishing and night cruises and spend evenings by the fire visiting with other guests that are here to relax and enjoy the gorgeous lake views and sunsets. The management could not possibly be more accommodating. They leave us alone but are always available when we need them. It is without reservation that I highly recommend this vacation paradise. Us, Our daughter and 3 grandchildren spent a week in August 2011 in the cabin pictured right on the lake. Interior pictures are of a different cabin but we enjoyed the rustic adventure of the 'log cabin features' the grandchildren wanted. The lake itself is gorgeous and were able to enjoy the beach, the children being pulled behind the boat for their water toys enjoyment plus walleye fishing was excellent. The lake also is surrounded so wind is not or seldom anything you need deal with. We found overall to have experienced a great vacation. Of course we did have our campfire to roast smores too! Enjoy your stay there.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, adventure seekers, age 55+.

About the owner: I have spent my summers in Park Rapids since childhood. My wife and children now share this enjoyment of the Park Rapids area. We were fortunate to acquire Sunset Cottages when the property became available in 2006. Rarely do such unique and beautiful settings transfer out of family ownership. We are happy to share this wonderful property with you. And, maybe the best part of all, you get to enjoy it and someone else does the yard work!
