The CASITA CIELO:

Casita Cielo is a 1 bedroom split level casita with bedroom and full bath on the upper level and a livingroom with full kitchen on the lower level. Nicely appointed with beautiful soft Mexican colors and travertine tiles. You will feel as though you are in a cloud as you watch the birds fly by at eye level! The bay window seat is a favorite, perfect for reading a good book or watching the sunrise over the water and large enough for a childs bed. Amazing views from every window!

The Heavenly Casa is a one bedroom home with has a spacious living room, well equipped kitchen with beautifully colored countertops, master bedroom with queensize comfy bed and ample closet spaces. With a full bathroom and everything all one level accessible without stairs it is perfect for anyone who may need easy access. From all areas you can enjoy a spectacular views of the ocean, lush gardens and a bit of Los Barriles. The big windows and terrace doors let in a gentle ocean breeze to cool you down on those warm Baja evenings. From the living room as well as the bedroom easy open sliders lead you directly to the spacious terrace which will become your favorite dining area during your stay.

The Garden Studio is completely private and located on this unique hillside property. The Garden Studio is quite special. With rock walls, a beautiful private outdoor Mexican tiled shower and a small kitchenette. The gardens are beautiful, the sea views are stunning, and there is a shaded outdoor patio perfect for an afternoon glass of wine, Pacifico or margarita! Our backyard garden welcomes you to pick fresh limes and bananas as you like (seasonal), a truly tropical experience.

  • We want to thank you, Karen and Grace, for all of your hospitality in Los Barriles in April. Casita Cielo was wonderful and we really had a good couple of days, exploring, bird watching, relaxing, and eating fish tacos. We appreciated your help with transportation, also. Actually, all of your “tips” to help orient us were very useful. Before deciding where to stay in Los Barriles, we had read other visitors’ comments about your place on this website; everything lived up to our expectations ...and then some.   • It was our great pleasure to spend the month of February at Casita Cielo. We were so fortunate in our choice. It is so cozy and comfortable with some great spots on the patio both front and back to enjoy the view and the sunshine. Also the view from the Casita itself is worth every minute, the bay window is a definite plus .. we even watched the moon eclipse from the livingroom window. The location is great for walking anywhere in town although we did rent a quad for the month. Karen and her daughter Grace as well as the friendly dogs made us feel so much at home and we felt like we really belonged in Los Barriles. We will definately be back.

  • Susie and I decided at the last minute to check out the kite surfing in Los Barriles as a part of our year long world trip. Thank goodness we did, because 3 days turned into a wonderful 15 days. If it wasn't for Karen's kindness and hospitality, it probably wouldn't have been quite as long. She is one of those special people you should meet in life and her cozy garden suite, made us feel like we were home away from home. If we didn't have the world to see, I expect we would still be there. An added bonus was the great wind for kitesurfing, watching Manata's fly through the air, Margarita night and Pacifico's in the evening on our little porch. What a wonderful experience we will cherish forever. Thank you

  • We had the great pleasure of spending a week in Casita Cielo in late February of 2007. Los Barriles is a marvelous contrast to the two Cabos. A mere quarter mile off of the main highway the pavement literally ends and a delightful local adventure begins. You could spend a week at Casita Cielo in complete privacy, or share the walled-in area with friends in the Garden Suite. Excellent restaurants are an easy walk or drive away. Most don’t take credit cards (a good sign), so regular visits to the cash machine in town are in order. We rented a 4 wheel drive SUV at the Cabo airport and took wonderful drives up and down the coast, delving yet further into truly local Baja. The accommodations were perfect—Casita Cielo offers a panoramic view of the Sea of Cortez from a comfortable and very functional split level suite. Karen is a delightful hostess. Ask her for suggestions on side trips—she set us up with a pango cruise to snorkel and watch humpback whales a few feet from the boat. We will definitely be back.

  • I recently stayed the whole winter --3 months-- in the Garden Suite. It was an unforgettable experience. The Garden Suite, a cozy little Hobbit-house with its rock walls and its glass door opening directly into the garden, lets one feel really in touch with nature. The gorgeous flowering trees and shrubs, and the flocks of birds that come to the feeder (I'll never forget those brilliant hooded orioles!), kept me entranced for hours, with my binoculars and bird book always within reach. The suite is just an easy 5-minute walk from the beach, the grocery stores, and the restaurants, so I didn't need to rent a car and felt really a part of this little town. I enjoyed many hours of walking on the immense, beautiful beach, lying in the sun,and swimming in the crystal clear water. For longer excursions, the comfortable and inexpensive Aguila bus to La Paz and to Cabo runs every 2 hours and stops on the highway just 10 minutes away. And if you want to roam even farther afield (we went to Magdalena Bay and hugged a baby whale), you can rent a car in either city. But the best part of my stay was the owner, Karen, and her family, whose warm welcome, unfailing kindness, concern, and helpfulness made me feel really at home.   • We recently (February) accompanied friends to Los Barriles where we had the good fortune to book both Casa Cielo and the Garden Suite. A better choice,considering any of the hotels in town(budget to on-the-water luxury) there is not. Our friends occupied Casa Cielo with its views of the entire coast including the town. We occupied the Garden Suite--a cozy, rock walled den which is meticulously equipped and decorated but no doily B&B cute here--strictly Mexican decor. The sunrise met us each morning through the glass door which overlooks the private yard (good for bird watching or reading)and the Sea of Cortez beyond. The open air but private shower and washroom were just steps away. We'd take the Garden suite again in a minute. Our hosts were available to advise regarding where to's and how to's. Daisy & Consuelo, the well-mannerd host-dogs were available to be adopted pets but were never intrusive. Our next trip to Los Barriles will begin with a call to Casa Cielo/Garden Suite for dates of availability.

  • I had the pleasure of staying in the Garden Suite. It was a wonderful experience - the view of the sunrise over the ocean, the birds singing in the garden, very comfortable accommodations, and my hosts made this a very memorable experience! The location is close to everything, with great views on all sides. (One of my favorite features of the Garden Suite is the outdoor shower.) I'll be back soon!
