If you are looking to relax and soak up fresh mountain air, Paradise Creek is the best of Northern New Mexico in the mountains of Questa. Questa is a small, quaint, heritage rich town that is just north of Taos about 20 enchanting miles. It is also the place where you turn east, at the only light in town, and drive 10 miles east to Red River - a mountain resort.

Questa is located on the Enchanted Circle scenic highway, near the confluence of the Rio Grande and the Red River and is at the western base of the Taos Mountains. To the southeast lies Flag Mountain, a northwestern spur of the group of mountains that includes Wheeler Peak, the highest peak in New Mexico. To the north and west, you will be struck by the Rio Grande Gorge and how it cuts a volcanic plateau. A hunters retreat and great in the winter for skiing, snowboarding and snow mobiling in Red River or Taos ski basins.

Hikers enjoy the beauty of the mountains with a variety of different hikes available only minutes away. Fishermen relax and enjoy the quiet serenity of Eagle Rock lake only l/4 mile away. Northern New Mexico has an incredible number of fishing spots. ATV trails are numerous. Goose Creek and Goose Lake is just 15 minutes away. To the South, 10 miles away, relax and fish at the local's favorite fishing spot - The John Dunn Bridge in Arroyo Hondo. Take a drive 10-15 miles north of the property and you will be in awe of the Valle Vidal or the Wild Rivers.

Great for summer vacation get aways for large family outings, retreats, gatherings or family reunions. There is plenty of space to have adventures, play softball, horseshoes or football. The property is gated by a tall New Mexico traditional 'Latilla' fence which provides for wonderful privacy and security. Tall cotton wood trees surround the property with a creek cutting through.

Enjoy and explore the mysteries this 3 acre land has to offer. Mystical stories abound about treasures buried in this land 200 years ago. Guests have found small indian artifacts.

A traditional New Mexican Territorial style home, it is a large house with an upstairs open loft with 2 queen beds separated by a tall divider. A futon sleeper and double bed sofa sleeper downstairs with two additonal single cots. Can sleep up to 10 people. Price includes up to 6 people - addition guest are $25.00 per person. There is plenty of room to dance, play and enjoy the two wood fireplaces and a bar area. ParadiseCreek is a beautiful piece of property that offered a great alternative to the busy day-to-day life. The house was extremely comfortable and had everything needed readily available. Extremely relaxing and would recommend this property for anyone looking for wonderful place to stay...you will absolutely enjoy every minute. Great views, two fireplaces, accommodating kitchen, and comfortable beds.

Owner response: Absolutely appreciate your warm comments. I am so happy you enjoyed the property and house. It is a very special property to me and a place where all our family has the opportunity to get together at least once year. Our small kiddos look forward to it because they can run around and the parents don't worry because of the private fence. Come again! Pat

We stayed at the house during our spring break ski trip this year. The cabin was excellent, very very accommodating, the loft was very spacious and having a fully stocked kitchen was great for our group. The location was excellent nestled right between Red River and Taos. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!!! We will certainly be looking to stay her again!

My family stayed here for five days over the Christmas break. We couldn't have had a better time. The weather was beautiful, the cabin was cozy, and the town (Red River) was like a scene from a Thomas Kincaide photo. We arrived on Saturday afternoon to fresh snow and mountain air. The cabin was just a short scenic drive from Red River and easy to find in the quaint town of Questa. Though contemporary it had a rustic feel with plenty of comfortable seating and beds for the 7 adults, 3 teenagers, and 2 children in our party. There was plenty of fire wood to keep us warm and enjoy as we sipped cocoa by one of the two fireplaces. The living area was comfortable for all to sit and watch Christmas movies on the big screen. We ate out at some of the wonderful restaraunts (Texas Red's and Shotgun Willie's) but we also used the ktichen and dining area several times to cook for the whole gang and we found ample accomodations for all our needs in the cabin. The view of the countryside in the early mornings and the panoramic sunsets in the evenings was amazing and the gurgling of the creek added a serene soundtrack by the light of the silvery moon. Due to the way the cabins are situated, we never even noticed the family staying at the other cabin even though it is on the same property and the privacy of the wooden fence around the perimeter of the property made us feel like we were in a secluded valley in the middle of nowhere. We visited Taos a couple of times and the drive was short and easy. We loved the cabin, the towns, and the activities (shopping, dining, skiing, and snowmobiling) and we had such a great time we are already planning to come back next year (maybe sooner!) If you're looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and stay in an amazing cabin the will take you back to a more peaceful time then this is the place to make your memories.

We had our wedding there last June. It was absolutely perfect! The photos do not do this property justice. Patricia went over and beyond anything we could have expected in getting the property ready for us. The property was beautiful and the creek gorgeous! We had our wedding and reception there. Plenty of room for the kids to play, huge dance area, and the reception tables and caterer. She even accommodated parking. The main house was perfect for the bridal party and stayed in the Casita for the first few days of our honey moon. It was too tranquil to leave. Our guests had a blast! We continually recommend this property to everyone we know. Thank you Patricia for all you did for us, you made it memorable!

My family has stayed in both the casita and the larger house. We have always enjoyed our stay at Paradise Creek. My fiance and I live the fast, busy 8-5 life, which makes our stay here very desreved and needed! Both houses are very comfortable, relaxing, serene and private. This house is big and plenty of room for the kids to run around. The homes are gated so our children can play and explore as we relax knowing they are safe. The kitchen was fully stocked and the beds were very comfortable. This vacation spot is highly recommended. My family and I look forward to our next thrip there.

What a wonderful property! We would definitely recommend this home to our friends. We rented the main house and the casita. We had three generations in our party, great for everyone! Beautiful surroundings and plenty of room to run, play, and relax. We took day trips to Red River where we enjoyed tubing, square dancing, horseback riding, picnicking in a park, and riding the ski lift to the top of the mountain. We also visited Taos, had lunch in a quaint restaurant, saw a pueblo village and walked out on the Rio Grande gorge bridge. After fun-filled, busy days, we were grateful to retire to this beautiful home in the evenings. One day, our kids begged us to stay at the house all day. They enjoyed volleyball and explored the grounds. When they came inside, we played cards, dominoes and put together a puzzle. Every evening, we enjoyed a family movie in the great room....comfortable seating for everyone and great tv with surround sound, better than going to the theater. The owner was very informative about the area and she was great to work with. The kitchen had everything we needed and we were even able to do laundry at the casita. This was an experience my family will never forget!!!

She was very informative about the area & went out of her way to make us feel at home. We will definitely stay again and would recommend paradise creek to anyone.

We rented the larger main house and the Casita House for a 6 day Christmas family vacation. The location was ideal and we enjoyed the privacy the fencing around the property provides. There were 12 in our party and we found the sleeping accommodations adequate for all of us. The open floor plan of the main house was ideal for all of us to gather in for games and movie time. The tile floors and large space was great for kids to play and we didn't have to worry too much about kids staining carpet or furniture since it is designed with durabilty and easy maintenance in mind. Since we rented both houses the owner was willing to give us a reduced rate and I felt it was very reasonable after comparing the cost of vacation homes in Red River. The owner was very friendly and went out of her way to help us in any way that she could. I think this would be a great place to stay in any season. The drive to Red River was beautiful and not too far to go for everyone to ski. We took a day trip to Toas and enjoyed the diversity that the town there has to offer. I will recommend this rental property to friends and family members in the future.

About the owner: Patricia Rael is a member of the Rael Family. Her father was the historian of Questa, a school eacher and writer. Her mother and father raised 6 children. She remembers her father inviting the school children to enjoy the land.. At an Easter Egg Hunt, holding her dad's hand, she decided one day she would have a beautiful place in the country for people to get away from the city and have enough room to enjoy nature and each other.

Why the Owner Chose Red River:
I was fortunate to have inherited this history rich property from my parents. One of the acres which is now the main house was an artist's studio converted to an open loft and easily sleeps 10 people

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
I enjoy the beauty of the mountains closeby, the large cottonwood trees, the small creek that weaves through the property and the serenity and privacy - a place of peace and space to relax and not be burdened by the city noise
