Family summer cottage on a secluded, quiet Duxbury road available by the week or month. Well maintained, one-story, tree-shaded, 60-year old expansion of an older house. Sleeps 11 in 7 bedrooms (two rooms with queen bed, two rooms with two twin beds, three rooms with one twin bed), 3 baths. Splendid view from deck and living room picture window over the Duxbury tidal salt marsh and river to the Atlantic. Well equipped kitchen, large living room, screened eating porch, spacious deck, cable, large laundry, and basement room with ping pong table. Well built and comfortable. Short walk to high-tide swimming, short drives to Duxbury beach and town shops. Fireplaces in living room and basement. Kitchen allows 3-4 to work together easily. Many historic sites within driving distance. Weekly rentals are normally Saturday afternoon to Saturday morning; other arrangements possible if schedule permits.
This property has been in the same family for 60 years and many family members visit every summer. It is particularly well suited for families with children.
Although there are beds for eleven, the dining tables, both inside and on the deck, seat only eight comfortably, more than eight is a bit crowded at either table.

Bright living room opening to a beautiful deck made a perfect gathering spot for our family reunion. Lots of beds in various configurations, a very workable kitchen, and a great view were all appreciated every day we were there. The location is great relative to the beach and marina. And the owner couldn't have been easier or more accommodating! All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Location
Owner info
Year Purchased: 1951
About the owner: Five family generations have enjoyed summer get-aways here. Sailing, other boating, tennis, walking, and swimming are all available.
Why the Owner Chose Duxbury:
Light traffic and wonderful view (see photos) contribute to the desirability of this location.
Locally harvested oysters and lobsters are easily available. Duxbury is not a major commercial hub, but groceries, an excellent book store, town library, post office, ice cream shop, and light shopping are all within a few minutes drive of the house.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Many locals commute to Boston from Duxbury; there is light rail service to Boston from a stations (Kingston and Halifax) about fifteen minutes away.
The view of the marsh changes constantly with changes in the light, the weather, and the height of the tide. At extreme high tide (the so-called spring tides, which occur about once a month), the marsh is almost covered with water.
