Rustic waterfront cabin with sandy beach.
Our cabin enjoys a lovely piece of Lake Superior frontage with a beautiful sandy beach. The cabin sits approximately 300' from the beach, accessed via a foot path.
This stretch of beach is a perfect place to catch both a beautiful sunrise and a spectacular sunset!
Your cabin retreat is located within an hour's drive from Tahquamenon Falls State Park where you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings while taking a relaxing hike in the woods. Other spots of interest include Point Iroquois Lighthouse, Whitefish Point Lighthouse and Shipwreck Museum, Seney Wildlife Refuge and miles of National Forest.
For a change of pace, try your luck at the Kings Club and Bay Mills Casinos, just 20 minutes away. Local restaurants offer a variety of choices including whitefish and perch dinners which the area is famous for.
If you venture a little further, you'll find the town of Sault Ste.Marie (40 miles to the east) where you can take a leisurely boat ride on the St. Mary's River traveling through both the American and Canadian locks.
Experience a trip to Mackinaw Island, a boat ride along Pictured Rocks National Seashore or take a moonlight sail under the Mackinaw Bridge to name just a few wonderful ways to spend a lovely day.

This is the second time we have stayed at this cottage. We went the first time as a couple for our anniversary, the second we took our three kids. The cottage is well maintained with many homey touches put in by the owners. Diane and Butch are wonderful hosts, the cottage sits on their property but are not in the way at all. They are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The cottage slept 2 adults in the back room and easily fit 3 kids in the living room on a queen sofa bed and full-sized futon. The kitchen is stocked with basic dishes and cookware. The beach is located down a short path of not-too-steep steps and the waterfront was a relaxing place to read and have a fire. The water was warm enough to swim in while we were there. Local recommendations for things to do: Taquamenon Falls State Park, the Soo Locks, Wilcox's restaurant for fresh-caught whitefish, Iriquois Point Light House, Monocle Lake for fishing, Bear sanctuary in Newberry, and much more! The Dancing Crane Coffee house is nice and the fry bread at the stand across from the casino is wonderful! Bring binoculars if you can to watch the birds and freighters. Thank you Diane and Butch for a wonderful vacation!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

My wife and I spent five days at the "Cozy Cabin" located near Brimley, MI. and cannot say enough positive things about both the rental and the Cabin's owners. The photos do not do justice to the actual interior or the setting it is in. Take a very short walk across the back yard and you are standing on a pristine expanse of Lake Superior beach, with wonderful views of both the sunrise and sunset - an added plus to this closeness is that you can hear the waves washing the beach from the open windows. The cabin was very clean and well maintained, well furnished, and decorated in a very charming style. You will find the cabin located within a easy drive of many wonderful places to visit - we went to Sault Ste. Marie, Whitefish Point, Mackinac Island, and Point Iroquois Lighthouse never driving more than 50 min. to any of the destinations. I would gladly recomend this cabin to anyone, the amenities and value are very high, and the owners are very friendly and helpful in recommending things to do in the area.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

The cottage is cute and well-maintained--small and cozy, perfect for the two of us. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful, and live right next door so they're easily accessible. You can see the lake from the living room window, and the beach is absolutely gorgeous: clean white sand, sandy bottom, few other people as far as the eye can see. The water was a little chilly, but not bad for Lake Superior. The flies on the beach bite, but bugs aren't bad near the cabin. The kitchen has everything you could need to cook with, and there are plenty of towels, blankets, movies, games, books, etc. to use. Tahquamenon Falls State Park is gorgeous and within an hour's drive; Pictured Rocks is also a lovely trip, and only about 2 1/2 hours. Brimley doesn't have much to offer in terms of restaurants or attractions, but if you are looking for a quiet week away, this is a great choice. We would highly recommend it!Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We spent a glorious weekend in this clean, cozy, rustic cabin which the listing properly represents. Diana was very welcoming and helpful, and guarded our privacy so we could enjoy our retreat from the city. We enjoyed side trips to Tahquamenon Falls and Pictured Rocks (whole day trip). I must say the beach (right beside the cabin) is one of the cleanest that I have ever seen, and the water was so clear. We walked a couple of kilometres in both directions, and rarely saw another person. It was amazing to feel as though you were alone on the beach. Caught a gorgeous sunset and enjoyed a moon walk along the beach. Highly relaxing.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We've just returned from a weeklong vacation in the eastern UP. The highlight of our trip was our 5 night stay at Diana and "Butch's" cabin west of Brimley. They were gracious and welcoming hosts. Their tidbits of information of local places to visit was invaluble. The cabin is nestled amongst the pines on the shore of lake superior. We spent many hours beach walking and sitting watching the sunrise/sunset. The "white noise" of the lake waves was natures music to our ears. Spiritual tradition teachs that the sabbath is an island in time. Our stay at the Brimley cabin was truely an island in time.Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We've just returned from our 6 night retreat at this quaint, cozy cabin on the shores of lake superior. We can't say enough about the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere of this area and the friendly people we encountered while in Brimley. The cabin, beach and property were well maintained, clean, and best of all, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. All amenities provided made our stay comfortable and were more than we expected. Diana's little extras made us feel so welcome and were very much appreciated. The cabin itself had a homey feel and provided more than enough space to relax in during our stay. The beach was like a paradise in itself and long swims in the afternoon were refreshing in the clean waters of lake superior. Butch and Diana were wonderful hosts, making their guests feel welcome and offering whatever they could to make our stay more enjoyable. I've already recommended this cabin to other members of my family and some friends too. All in all, the entire vacation was so enjoyable that upon returning home, I booked a few more nights in the coming month to do it all over again. Can't wait!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, people with disabilities, girls getaway, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

A quaint and quiet place to respite from the fast pace of every day life. The cabin itself has a certain charm that calms the soul even as you sit and listen to the loons lonesome call and the waves lapping upon the shore of Lake Superior. As an artist, I found this place to be just what I needed to get my creative juices flowing again. Thanks for the wonderful time and the beautiful visions of sun rises and sunsets that flood my memory.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

I’m happy to say we had the occasion to stay in this fine little cabin and it is indeed a hidden treasure. I don’t think the pictures nor the description truly do it justice. The cabin and the surrounding area is quaint, cozy, clean, scenic and most important of all, peaceful. I’m not sure which we liked more, falling asleep to the sound of waves lapping on the shore or waking up to it, but I’m for certain we’ll be going back. As for Butch and Diana, they’re great hosts-never intrusive, but there when you need them and if not, would promptly address any inquiries(with a smile). Just good-hearted, down-to-earth, friendly people like most we’ve encountered in the UP. We’re very much looking forward to next time…sunning our buns and building sandcastles on the impeccably clean beach, swimming in the crystal clear waters of Lake Superior, curling up on Butch's hammock for an afternoon nap, and roasting marshmallows on the campfire at night...we can't wait! What can I say, if you’re looking for an escape from the hub-bub of the city and the rush of it all, this is the place. Relax and take a step back in time to reconnect…it did wonders for us. P.S. They won't post it, but you can pick up a wireless connection...ssshhhh.Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Where do I even begin to describe our stay at this cabin? This location was a dream come true while vacationing in the Upper Peninsula on our recent vacation. This quaint, charming, comfortable and spacious cabin provided us with all things necessary to enjoy our stay. The property was well-maintained and clean at all times. The owners were MORE than accomodating... offering us insight to the area as to where we could shop for food and amenities as well as the local "hot spots" to visit. The photos, in my opinion, don't do the cabin justice. It's got to be seen in person to appreciate just how wonderful this cabin truly is. It is an adorable, comfortable spot to stay... much cozier and "homier" than a hotel. I would HIGHLY recommend this site to friends and family alike.... as well as anyone reading this review. So close to Lake Superior.... just a minute's walk to the beach and beautiful water!! You just can't go wrong choosing this location when planning your vacation to the Upper Peninsula!Recommended for: Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.

About the owner: Butch and Diana are both retired and reside on the property not far from the cabin with their two dogs, Happy and Pepper. After living on the East Coast for many years, we decided to return to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to be close to family. We enjoy the small town atmosphere of Brimley and feel very fortunate to have a beautiful piece of Lake Superior to call home. We started renting our cabin in 2010 and have truly enjoyed meeting new people and giving them a chance to experience this wonderful area that we've come to love and call home.
