A renovated 1850s Farm House situated on 3 acres with panoramic views of Seneca Lake awaits you. There are two bedrooms--one King bedroom and one Queen bedroom. There is also a fold out sofa for extra guests and a private office with high speed internet if you need to stay in contact with the outside world. Do you like to cook? The remodeled kitchen is fully stocked with cookware, spices, and cooking oils for whatever you'd like to prepare. The property also includes a number of out buildings. Two of these buildings are available for guests--one is an old carpentry shop and is equipped with exercise equipment, reading books, and a TV/DVD setup. the other is a renovated chicken coop that now serves as a small beverage/activity station under enormous English walnut trees. A large section of the yard is in a fenced-in area (helpful to keep children and pets from wandering off too easily) that has a fire pit/food smoker, horseshoes, croquet, and beanbag toss games. We hope you love this property as much as we do and enjoy your stay.

Almost every water activity, banking groceries, restaurants, and hospital/medical care are within 10 miles of the house. Great regional cuisine is practically next door. The house is also on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, so there are at least 80 wineries within a 30 mile radius. Watkins Glen is 9 miles South of this location as well.

About the owner: A native Ohioan, Steve has worked in Upstate New York in the Agriculture and Wine businesses for over 15 years. Kelly was born in Rochester, New York, and launched her photography business in this house. You'll see why when you visit the area, the scenery is fantastic. Steve and Kelly now work in Rochester, New York, so they can't be at the property as much as they would like to be.
Why the Owner Chose Hector: Steve had always wanted a place in the country, with a nice water view and a nice big, red barn--and he found it! The previous owner, Harold Palmer, had been there since 1935 and was a carpenter--building many of the cabinets and making many of the renovations himself. Harold's father, Jack, started Palmer's Lake Rides in the early 1900s. The 'Stroller' can still be seen and ridden in Watkins Glen to this day. Steve was very honored that the family picked him to own and take care of the place.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse: The history of the place, the views, and the fun outbuildings and patio make it very easy to relax. There are also barn swallows to watch as they acrobatically swoop in and out of the barn windows and chat with each other on the electric wires. There is also a red tailed hawk that nests in the corner of the property and an unlimited number of critters. After all, it is an old farmstead!
