Colorado Springs condo description
'Location, Location, Location!'
Welcome to our mountain getaway retreat in the city, located in beautiful Cheyenne Canyon at 1424 Cheyenne Blvd, Colorado Springs, CO 80906, just 5 blocks from the historic Broadmoor Hotel!! This is a unique area within Colorado Springs, because it is in the heart of nature, where you can see wildlife (deer, foxes, and bear) and truly experience Colorado's rugged outdoors. It is nothing like staying in a city. Although we are less than ten minutes from downtown, we are worlds apart.
NOTE::: If your dates are not available for this property, please check VRBO 466440, which is the sister property to this one and is at 1428 W Cheyenne Blvd, 2 doors away. It's a new VRBO listing but it's also a lovely property!
This light, bright 900 square foot two bedroom getaway borders miles of parks and open spaces. It is the perfect spot to explore and experience all the wonders that Colorado Springs has to offer! 'The Canyon' was a small sleepy resort community in years gone by, one of only two canyons in Colorado Springs, The homes were mostly built in the 1920's and 1930's and were bungalows and cottages. As the years passed and people discovered this oasis, more homes were built.
This attached house was built in 1963 and it shares its back wall with another house but there is more privacy because it is not built side by side, but is front to back... and there are about 10 homes in the enclave, set back about 100 feet from the main street, Cheyenne Blvd. Everyone is quiet and I own 3 of the homes in the enclave... When you walk out your front door, it is unlikely that you will see anyone, but the parking is in front of the house and the rear house also parks in the spots next to the parking for this house.
The property is a short two block walk farther into the canyon to the Stratton Open Space Preserve where you can walk on miles of trails, enjoy wonderful hiking, biking and exploring. Walking westward towards the mountains along Cheyenne Blvd, is a lovely coffee shop, a nice place to stop for a capuccino or mocha before continuing on into Cheyenne Canyon Park and the Starsmore Discovery center (an educational nature center, great for children of all ages), with miles of hikes along Cheyenne Creek. If you drive into the canyon, the beauty will astound you! Seven Falls and Helen Hunt Falls are located right down the road a bit deeper into Cheyenne Canyon and both are incredibly beautiful For a shot of old world elegance, walk to the five star Broadmoor hotel, an historic resort that is a wonderful place to go for a drink or a meal or just to walk around the gorgeous grounds! (pups welcome on the grounds)
Our house has two bedrooms. One has a king sized sleigh bed and the other has a new queen sized Pillowtop mattress, We also have twin size and queen size air mattresses which can be set up in the living room, so we can accomodate up to six people.
This inviting property is furnished with two comfy sofas in the living room. There are new 22' flat screen televisions in each bedroom and there is a new 40' Toshiba Flat Screen HD LCD TV in the Livingroom. All TVs have full cable TV service. We are also set up for wireless internet access so you can sit outside and surf the web and there is free local and long distance phone service as well .
The decor is contemporary with earth tone walls and oak hardwood floors throughout (no carpeting at all). There is a full eat-in kitchen with an oak table and 6 chairs, tiled counters, linoleum floors, flat top electric stove and a dishwasher. There is a new vanity in the bathroom but neither the bathroom nor the kitchen have been completely renovated yet. Still, there is everything you could need for a fun vacation! There are new air-conditioners in both bedrooms and the living room (which cool the whole place), but summer evenings in Colorado tend to be cooler, so it cools down beautifully at night.
The small, private 16' by 22' fenced in patio area off the kitchen, has a gas barbeque, as well as a patio table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is no other yard..
We allow pets... Let us know if for some reason you need a kennel or help with your pet during your stay and we will try to accomodate your pooch.
We are less than ten minutes from historic Old Colorado City and fifteen minutes from exciting Manitou Springs with their wonderful restaurants, shopping, supermarkets and galleries. Garden of the Gods park, with its exquisite red rock formations, is a must see and it is less than 10 minutes away with a fantastic visitor's center. Downtown Colorado Springs is just a hop, skip and jump away, as well... The Air Force Academy is about 25 minutes north of us, and Colorado College is about 10 minutes away in the downtown area. The Olympic Training Center is east of us and less than a fifteen minute drive.
Bear Creek Dog Park and Bear Creek Nature Center are less than 10 minutes down the road, and are wonderful places to take the kids! There is also a beautiful zoo less than 10 minutes away. There are many fabulous day trips less than 2 hours from us, including the drive up Pikes Peak, marvellilng at the Royal Gorge, rafting on the Arkansas river, soaking in hotsprings, exploring Cave of the Winds, and visiting the Cliff-dwelling museum, all great entertainment for kids.
This property has parking for up to four cars and can also accomodate a medium sized RV. The driveway is up a hill and is a dirt road (only about 75 feet or so), so if you are in your RV, you might want to be careful when pulling up...

We escaped Thanksgiving and had a lovely time at this clean and comfortable hideaway. We made good use of the well equipped kitchen and the grill on the patio. It was great to have easy access to the open space and a short drive to the dog park. It was also nice to visit and walk our dogs around the nearby five star resort. Grocery supplies, wine, and coffee shops were quick and easy to get to. Mark was easy to contact and always eager to make sure everything was all right. We would recommend visiting the near by Sacred Grounds Coffee Shop and having a cup and a snack or lunch. It was fun to see deer walk by also. We look forward to returning to this property.

Excellent location centrally located to many tourist attractions. Close to many restaurants, Safeway, and Post Office. Clean and well stocked with all the necessary amenities. Get up early and see neighborhood deer. Nearby hiking area/park to take the dog and many trails. Owner extremely nice and helpful. Had a great vacation. Would highly recommend this location.

Great Rental Property
Great Rental Property
My husband and I stayed at this cottage with his parents in mid-July. This was our first VRBO rental experience and I prayed that the property would be as it was described. It was exactly what we hoped to find. This was a lovely location off the main road. The cottage had everything we could need during our stay. We took full advantage of the patio, BBQ, trails, and close proximity to the Cheyenne Mt. Zoo. There were renovations being done on the property right behind us for a few days. Since the work was done during the day, we did not find it disruptive. Mark and the workers were respectful of our presence in the early morning/evening hours. The only issue I would mention is that, during several periods of heavy rainfall, a deep puddle pooled around the front porch and you could not use the sidewalk to get to your car. We found this one evening when my mother-in-law found herself in ankle deep water because we had failed to turn on the porch light. We all had a good laugh about it. We would definitely rent from Mark again and I would refer others to his properties. The family we visit has now moved north of town, so we hope Mark has options closer to their new location.

Colorado Springs vacation
Colorado Springs vacation
We had a fantastic week in Colorado Springs due in large part to renting this house instead of being squeezed into hotel rooms. Spacious enough for me and my 3 children and our little dog Lucky, it was also super convenient to get every where we wanted to go. Clean, safe neighborhood as well made us feel right at home. The home was equipped with EVERYTHING you could possibly need, a perfect home away from home for our week we were there!

A great hide-away, close to EVERYTHING
A great hide-away, close to EVERYTHING
My friend, daughter and I vacationed here for a week. Upon arrival, we found the rental to be squeaky clean, everything we could need (including a lint roller!!), comfortable beds w/extra pillows, nice den w/all the amenities. In short, it was our home away from home. We managed once to lock ourselves out - Mark came quickly to rescue us. He was charming, knowledgeable of what to see and do, and where to eat. When I return to the area, you can be SURE that I'll rent from him again. I couldn't recommend rented from him more highly!

Loved Co Springs
Loved Co Springs
We stayed here for a week, mid June 2013. When we first arrived and for the first few days there was considerable traffic around the property as the people living in the attached home were moving out. They really didn't cause any problems other than just experiencing more noise especially late night/early morning which caused some disturbances with our dogs. The home was extremely clean and we felt very comfortable in this space. They also provided many extras to make your trip/stay more convenient. Location was PERFECT for us as it was extremely close to everything that we did to include, hiking, running, cycling, dog park and visiting/shopping in Old Colorado City. It was nice to have a place to come back to in the afternoons for a little nap after our early morning adventures. Weather in the area was also the best, and the smoke only became evident the last three evenings we were there but didn't slow us down in anyway. I would definitely recommend and stay at this property again. Mark was extremely helpful before and during our trip.

Owner response: Sorry for the noise from the folks moving. They had lived there 7 years and loved it there... Obviously that was a one-time occurance. It's normaily totally quiet and peaceful. Glad you enjoyed everything else though!
Very pleasant stay

I stayed at the property with my dog for a month and a half while I was house hunting. It's a wonderful place to vacation. Nature is literally in your backyard and you have everything you need in the house. In addition, Mark was very helpful in suggesting restaurants, etc. He even made a trip out to my permanent residence to drop off clothing I accidentally left behind. Great place and I would highly recommend it!

My husband and I stayed at the Cheyenne Cottage with our son and two dogs. It was a very pleasant stay. The cottage was clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Overall, we were very satisfied. The owner even contacted us by phone during our stay to make sure all of our needs were met. We would definitely go back!

Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Pardon the corny photo from X-Mas last year at our daughter's house... We have 3 Corgi dogs of our own, all rescued from the Humane Society, and our daughter has a 4th Corgi, also a rescue... We take our 3 pups with us where-ever we can, and they love taking long hikes with us around the Cheyenne Canyon area. We have been married for close to 30 years. We lived in New York City for our first 35+ years, and have lived in Colorado for the past 18 years. We love it here! (You will too!)
Why the Owner Chose Colorado Springs:
We purchased this wonderful property because we live 3 blocks away and wanted to share our love for Cheyenne Canyon with others... It is a country getaway right in the city. We had fallen in love with Cheyenne Canyon park and its miles and miles of hiking and biking trails and when this property came up for sale, we couldn't resist!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
This canyon is surrounded by open spaces. We have 3 Corgi dogs (all rescue dogs, adopted at the Colorado Springs Humane Society), and we take them hiking up into the surrounding parks and mountains. We love the proximity to all that Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City and Manitou have to offer, yet feel as though we are living in a mountain getaway, miles from civilization!
