Welcome to our mountain getaway retreat in the city, located in beautiful, safe Cheyenne Canyon, just 5 blocks from the historic Broadmoor Hotel!! This is a unique area within Colorado Springs, because it is in the heart of nature, where you can see wildlife (deer, foxes, and bear) and truly experience Colorado's rugged outdoors. It is nothing like staying in a city. Although we are less than ten minutes from downtown, we are worlds apart.

This light, bright 900 square foot two bedroom getaway borders miles of parks and open spaces. It is the perfect spot from which to explore and experience all the wonders that Colorado Springs has to offer! 'The Canyon' was a small sleepy resort community in years gone by, one of only two canyons in Colorado Springs, The homes were mostly built in the 1920's and 1930's and were bungalows and cottages. As the years passed and people discovered this oasis, more homes were built.
This attached house was built in 1963 and, although it shares its back wall with another house, there is lots of privacy because it is not built side by side, but is front to back... There are about 6 homes in the enclave, set back about 100 feet from the main street. Everyone is quiet and I own 4 of the homes in the enclave... When you walk out your front door, it is unlikely that you will see anyone, but the parking for this property and the back house are both in front.
This house has two bedrooms. One has a king sized sleigh bed and the other has a queen bed. Each bedroom has a 22' flat screen tv. We also have provided cots in the past, so we can accomodate up to five or six people.
There are two comfortable sofas in the living room which also has a 40' Flat Screen TV. All TVs have full cable TV service. We have fast wireless internet access so you can sit outside and surf the web.
The decor is contemporary with earth tone walls and oak hardwood floors throughout (no carpeting at all). There is a full eat-in kitchen with an oak table and chairs, tiled counters, linoleum floors, flat top electric stove and a dishwasher. There is a full-size stackable washing machine and drier in the kitchen, as well. There are air-conditioners in both bedrooms and the living room (which cool the whole place), but summer evenings in Colorado tend to be cooler, so it cools down beautifully at night... The property is stocked with many extra amenities such as spices, paper towels, napkins, trash bags, shampoo, and conditioner. We only use natural cleaning products... No chemicals. The small, private 16' by 22' fenced in patio area is just off the kitchen and has a gas barbeque, as well as a patio table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is no other yard..
The property is a short two block walk farther into the canyon to the Stratton Open Space Preserve where you can walk on miles of trails,enjoy wonderful hiking, biking and exploring. Walking westward towards the mountains along Cheyenne Blvd, is a lovely coffee shop, a nice place to stop for a capuccino or mocha before continuing on into Cheyenne Canyon Park and the Starsmore Discovery center (an educational nature center, great for children of all ages), with miles of hikes along Cheyenne Creek. If you drive into the canyon, the beauty will astound you! Seven Falls and Helen Hunt Falls are located right down the road a bit deeper into Cheyenne Canyon and both are incredibly beautiful For a shot of old world elegance, walk to the five star Broadmoor hotel, an historic resort that is a wonderful place to go for a drink or a meal or just to walk around the gorgeous grounds! (pups welcome on the grounds)
We are less than ten minutes from historic Old Colorado City and fifteen minutes from exciting Manitou Springs with their wonderful restaurants, shopping, supermarkets and galleries. Garden of the Gods park, with its exquisite red rock formations, is a must see and it is less than 10 minutes away with a fantastic visitor's center. Downtown Colorado Springs is just a hop, skip and jump away, as well... The Air Force Academy is about 25 minutes north of us, and Colorado College is about 10 minutes away in the downtown area. The Olympic Training Center is east of us and less than a fifteen minute drive.
Bear Creek Dog Park and Bear Creek Nature Center are less than 10 minutes down the road, and are wonderful places to take the kids! There is also a beautiful zoo less than 10 minutes away. There are many fabulous day trips less than 2 hours from us, including the drive up Pikes Peak, marvellilng at the Royal Gorge, rafting on the Arkansas river, soaking in hotsprings, exploring Cave of the Winds, and visiting the Cliff-dwelling museum, all great entertainment for kids.
This property has parking for up to four cars and can also accomodate a medium sized RV. The driveway is up a hill and is a dirt road (only about 75 feet or so), so if you are in your RV, you might want to be careful when pulling up...
We allow dogs... Let us know if you think your dog might have separation anxiety and we will try to provide a kennel.

About the owner: Pardon the corny photo from X-Mas last year at our daughter's house... We have 3 Corgi dogs of our own, all rescued from the Humane Society, and our daughter has a 4th Corgi, also a rescue... We take our 3 pups with us where-ever we can, and they love taking long hikes with us around the Cheyenne Canyon area. We have been married for close to 30 years. We lived in New York City for our first 35+ years, and have lived in Colorado for the past 18 years. We love it here! (You will too!)

It is a country getaway right in the city. We had fallen in love with Cheyenne Canyon park and its miles and miles of hiking and biking trails and when this property came up for sale, we couldn't resist!
