Colorado Springs condo description
'Location, Location, Location!'
Welcome to our mountain getaway retreat in the city, located in beautiful, safe Cheyenne Canyon, just 5 blocks from the historic Broadmoor Hotel!! This is a unique area within Colorado Springs, because it is in the heart of nature, where you can see wildlife (deer, foxes, and bear) and truly experience Colorado's rugged outdoors. It is nothing like staying in a city. Although we are less than ten minutes from downtown, we are worlds apart.
NOTE::: If your dates are not available at this property, please check on our other VRBO 2 Bedroom properties in Cheyenne Canyon. They are 364160 and 466440. Both are lovely properties and your dates might still be open at one of them. We also have 499390, a four bedroom. two bath property and 407464, a fabulous 3 bedroom. two and a half bath property, both nearby in Cheyenne Canyon, as well. Thanks
This light, bright 900 square foot two bedroom getaway borders miles of parks and open spaces. It is the perfect spot from which to explore and experience all the wonders that Colorado Springs has to offer! 'The Canyon' was a small sleepy resort community in years gone by, one of only two canyons in Colorado Springs, The homes were mostly built in the 1920's and 1930's and were bungalows and cottages. As the years passed and people discovered this oasis, more homes were built.
This attached house was built in 1963 and, although it shares its back wall with another house, there is lots of privacy because it is not built side by side, but is front to back... There are about 6 homes in the enclave, set back about 100 feet from the main street. Everyone is quiet and I own 4 of the homes in the enclave... When you walk out your front door, it is unlikely that you will see anyone, but the parking for this property and the back house are both in front.
This house has two bedrooms. One has a king sized sleigh bed and the other has a queen bed. Each bedroom has a 22' flat screen tv. We also have provided cots in the past, so we can accomodate up to five or six people.
There are two comfortable sofas in the living room which also has a 40' Flat Screen TV. All TVs have full cable TV service. We have fast wireless internet access so you can sit outside and surf the web.
The decor is contemporary with earth tone walls and oak hardwood floors throughout (no carpeting at all). There is a full eat-in kitchen with an oak table and chairs, tiled counters, linoleum floors, flat top electric stove and a dishwasher. There is a full-size stackable washing machine and drier in the kitchen, as well. There are air-conditioners in both bedrooms and the living room (which cool the whole place), but summer evenings in Colorado tend to be cooler, so it cools down beautifully at night...
The property is stocked with many extra amenities such as spices, paper towels, napkins, trash bags, shampoo, and conditioner.
The small, private 16' by 22' fenced in patio area is just off the kitchen and has a gas barbeque, as well as a patio table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is no other yard..
The property is a short two block walk farther into the canyon to the Stratton Open Space Preserve where you can walk on miles of trails, enjoy wonderful hiking, biking and exploring. Walking westward towards the mountains along Cheyenne Blvd, is a lovely coffee shop, a nice place to stop for a capuccino or mocha before continuing on into Cheyenne Canyon Park and the Starsmore Discovery center (an educational nature center, great for children of all ages), with miles of hikes along Cheyenne Creek. If you drive into the canyon, the beauty will astound you! Seven Falls and Helen Hunt Falls are located right down the road a bit deeper into Cheyenne Canyon and both are incredibly beautiful For a shot of old world elegance, walk to the five star Broadmoor hotel, an historic resort that is a wonderful place to go for a drink or a meal or just to walk around the gorgeous grounds! (pups welcome on the grounds)
We are less than ten minutes from historic Old Colorado City and fifteen minutes from exciting Manitou Springs with their wonderful restaurants, shopping, supermarkets and galleries. Garden of the Gods park, with its exquisite red rock formations, is a must see and it is less than 10 minutes away with a fantastic visitor's center. Downtown Colorado Springs is just a hop, skip and jump away, as well... The Air Force Academy is about 25 minutes north of us, and Colorado College is about 10 minutes away in the downtown area. The Olympic Training Center is east of us and less than a fifteen minute drive.
Bear Creek Dog Park and Bear Creek Nature Center are less than 10 minutes down the road, and are wonderful places to take the kids! There is also a beautiful zoo less than 10 minutes away. There are many fabulous day trips less than 2 hours from us, including the drive up Pikes Peak, marvellilng at the Royal Gorge, rafting on the Arkansas river, soaking in hotsprings, exploring Cave of the Winds, and visiting the Cliff-dwelling museum, all great entertainment for kids.
This property has parking for up to four cars and can also accomodate a medium sized RV. The driveway is up a hill and is a dirt road (only about 75 feet or so), so if you are in your RV, you might want to be careful when pulling up...
We allow dogs... Let us know if you think your dog might have separation anxiety and we will try to provide a kennel.
Cancellation Policy: 100% refund if cancellation is 60 days or more before arrival date. Cancelling 30-60 days before arrival date will result in forfeit of deposit. Cancelling within 30 days of arrival date is non-refundable unless we are able to re-book those days. There is a $50.00 processing fee for any cancellations.

Great Place, Great Location!!
Great Place, Great Location!!
My wife and I stayed here with our two dogs for a five night getaway. The property was as described and as it looks in the pictures. The king bed was very comfortable, there were amble amounts of towels and linens, and fast internet. We took advantage of the well-stocked kitchen and did some cooking, but it is also a quick little drive (less than 10 mins) to the downtown, were several nice restaurants and boutiques are located. We loved sitting outside when the weather permitted, enjoying time on the private patio and listening to the birds chirp, and took the pups for daily walks along the many trails and open spaces located minutes away. The owner, Mark, was attentive and helpful (and very knowledgeable about the area). We would definitely stay here again!!

This note was left for us in our property: Mark: Thanks for letting us stay at this great property! We are sorry we had to cut our trip short but we had to get home due to a family emergency. We tried to leave the place as immaculate as when we found it. The beds are stripped and the towels are in the hamper. We will be back in a few months to visit our son at the AFA, so we'll be in touch.

This note was left for us in our property: Thanks for everything! This was the best location for us. We totally enjoyed walking in the open spaces with our dogs. One note... we grilled almost every night, so the propane tank will need filling. We may be back in the Spring (with all our kids this time) so we are going to want to stay in the 4 bedroom behind this one... We'll contact you with the dates.

First VRBO experience, and may be our last.......
First VRBO experience, and may be our last.......
We had to call owner as the key wasn't where he said it would be. A light bulb had to be replaced in a lamp in the living room immediately upon arrival. After that, the light would flicker and go out so we weren't able to use that area for reading. Owner was told about it and it wasn't fixed while we were there. A bucket under the kitchen sink overflowed. Owner was called and a nut or something was tightened. Christmas morning it overflowed again. It was repaired after Christmas. Dryer took 3 cycles to dry a load. The handle fell off the first time I used it. Owner was told and it wasn't fixed while we were there. The Sat before we left (Thurs) the ceiling light in the bedroom closet pulled loose. The owner was shown and it wasn't repaired while we were there, making it necessary to use a flashlight to find things in the closet. The air ducts were dirty & we became very congested and ill. My husband took the vacuum and cleaned the ducts as far as he could reach. It helped a little. Upon arrival the owner informed us that the second bedroom TV wasn't working. We requested that it be fixed and it was. The day we left the thermostat wouldn't work. It read "low battery". The cover had to be taken off in order for the heat to stop running. It was left on the kitchen table with a note as we didn't have replacement batteries. Extension cords were throughout the living room and a strip with 5 or 6 plugs was in the corner with stuff plugged into it. The smoke alarm that should have been outside the bedrooms was laying on the top of the fridge. At one point our electric shut off. The owner took care of it after he figured out that the main breaker to the house was on the backside of the adjoining house. One bedroom lamp didn't work. We weren't aware that the driveway area in front of the rental was also parking for the house behind us. Every time someone came in or out, our dogs got upset. One was treated at vet for stress. There were notes posted throughout the house: "No Smoking", "Artwork is for sale", "Do not use bleach", "No candles, smoking, cooking with curry...." and various other "orders". We were informed via info sheet upon arrival that when the dogs were left alone, they had to be kenneled. The grill was not usable. Outside was unkempt. The driveway is dirt with huge holes in it. A low profile vehicle will not make it up. The rental wasn't as clean as other reviews said it was. Rental not as presented. Additional rules not stated prior to renting.

Owner response: Wow.... I am so sorry this couple had such a negative experience! I offered to compensate them for the problems, but they didn't respond and posted this negative review instead. If you are want to read a point by point response to their complaints, it follows, but I would recommend reading all the other review we have received, for this and our 9 other VRBO properties and decide for yourself. As a point of information, my daughter needed 12 units of blood during the 2 weeks these guests stayed at our property. Despite that, I took care of all the things they reported, except for minor things that the husband told me were not imprtant to them and could wait until after they left. Anyone who owns a home knows that unexected things can happen and they sometimes happen all together. 1) My cleaners left the key in a different spot than where it should have been... my fault. I live 3 blocks away & came right over within a few minutes of their arrival and gave them the key. 2) A light bulb had blown out and I replaced it immediately. It was on a switched outlet (so it could be turned on when you walk into the property) and the switch apparently was faulty. I have taken care of it. 3) A previous guest had put a bucket under the kitchen sink to catch a leak and never told me... The bucket filled and overflowed a little onto the floor. The man staying at the property offered to fix it himself but his fix didn't eliminate the problem as the bucket filled again... I got a new part and fixed it so no more leaks have happened. 4) The closet light in the ceiling and the drier handle were both issues I was told were not important so I attended to my daughter and left them for after these folks departed. 5) The TV in the second bedroom had a faulty cable box that I replaced the day they arrived. 6) Batteries go bad and I replaced the ones in the programmable thermostat. 7) We had put an x-mas tree in the unit for them and the power strip had the lights for the tree in it. 8) There were several smoke alarms in the house. 9) The dirt driveway leading up to the house had some potholes and ruts due to lots of rain, but it was still easily driveable. 10) There were 4" of snow when they arrived so the grill and yard had snow. 11) The entire neighborhood lost power on X-Mas day. 12) They had their 3 dogs with them. Would the Broadmoor have had less people walking around to upset their dogs?
Exactly as expected!

We escaped Thanksgiving and had a lovely time at this clean and comfortable hideaway. We made good use of the well equipped kitchen and the grill on the patio. It was great to have easy access to the open space and a short drive to the dog park. It was also nice to visit and walk our dogs around the nearby five star resort. Grocery supplies, wine, and coffee shops were quick and easy to get to. Mark was easy to contact and always eager to make sure everything was all right. We would recommend visiting the near by Sacred Grounds Coffee Shop and having a cup and a snack or lunch. It was fun to see deer walk by also. We look forward to returning to this property.

Great Rental Property
Great Rental Property
My husband and I stayed at this cottage with his parents in mid-July. This was our first VRBO rental experience and I prayed that the property would be as it was described. It was exactly what we hoped to find. This was a lovely location off the main road. The cottage had everything we could need during our stay. We took full advantage of the patio, BBQ, trails, and close proximity to the Cheyenne Mt. Zoo. There were renovations being done on the property right behind us for a few days. Since the work was done during the day, we did not find it disruptive. Mark and the workers were respectful of our presence in the early morning/evening hours. The only issue I would mention is that, during several periods of heavy rainfall, a deep puddle pooled around the front porch and you could not use the sidewalk to get to your car. We found this one evening when my mother-in-law found herself in ankle deep water because we had failed to turn on the porch light. We all had a good laugh about it. We would definitely rent from Mark again and I would refer others to his properties. The family we visit has now moved north of town, so we hope Mark has options closer to their new location.

Colorado Springs vacation
Colorado Springs vacation
We had a fantastic week in Colorado Springs due in large part to renting this house instead of being squeezed into hotel rooms. Spacious enough for me and my 3 children and our little dog Lucky, it was also super convenient to get every where we wanted to go. Clean, safe neighborhood as well made us feel right at home. The home was equipped with EVERYTHING you could possibly need, a perfect home away from home for our week we were there!

Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: Pardon the corny photo from X-Mas last year at our daughter's house... We have 3 Corgi dogs of our own, all rescued from the Humane Society, and our daughter has a 4th Corgi, also a rescue... We take our 3 pups with us where-ever we can, and they love taking long hikes with us around the Cheyenne Canyon area. We have been married for close to 30 years. We lived in New York City for our first 35+ years, and have lived in Colorado for the past 18 years. We love it here! (You will too!)
Why the Owner Chose Colorado Springs:
We purchased this wonderful property because we live 3 blocks away and wanted to share our love for Cheyenne Canyon with others... It is a country getaway right in the city. We had fallen in love with Cheyenne Canyon park and its miles and miles of hiking and biking trails and when this property came up for sale, we couldn't resist!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
This canyon is surrounded by open spaces. We have 3 Corgi dogs (all rescue dogs, adopted at the Colorado Springs Humane Society), and we take them hiking up into the surrounding parks and mountains. We love the proximity to all that Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City and Manitou have to offer, yet feel as though we are living in a mountain getaway, miles from civilization!
