Herb's charming home hits the sweet spot! Roomy, clean and comfortable; all the necessities and then some await your arrival. As does Herb, who is welcoming and full of information about his home, NOLA, the neighborhood, events, Katrina -- he is generous and helpful in every way. He could not have been easier to work with from first inquiry to final hugs goodbye at the airport! Just a few blocks from great food and drink, groceries and coffee, city parks large and small -- all walkable and safe day or night. We walked long distances throughout the city (daylight) and 'twas a quick and easy taxi ride ($8-$10) home after dark. I recommend Herb's home to anyone wanting an authentic NOLA experience at a fabulous price in a fabulous part of the city with the most caring of hosts.

I would highly recommend staying here on your next visit to New Orleans. We were within walking distance of both the RTA Bus and Streetcar. Also, the neighbor shops provided wonderful dining experiences and markets. We were very comfortable with our lodgings and cannot wait to return to New Orleans!

We went to a Ace Convention in New Orleans, and stayes at Herb's place. A great place to stay in a safe location. If you go the french quarter, be sure and ask Herb how to get there,we didn't the first time. His place is very clean and well maintained. Herb goes over and beyond in his hospitality. We were waiting for a taxi,as he was arriving home, he cancelled the taxi and gave us a ride. Great place.hope Dale didn't mess up the remote for the tv. :)

My friend and I loved NOLA and would definitely return again and stay here! The apartment is located in a safe neighborhood, close to the bus, and within walking distance of a few restaurants, a couple grocery stores, a coffee place, and the New Orleans Museum of Art! The apartment was cozy (with a very comfortable bed) and a great jumping off point to visit many locations. Between the bus and an $8-9 cab ride to the French Quarter we found it very accessible to everything we wanted to do. Herb was a wealth of information and clearly loves New Orleans!

Stayed here for a week while continuing to rebuild the greatest place on the planet. I've been coming to NOLA every 3 - 4 months for several years now to help rebuild the greater New Orleans area. I've stay in many places in many neighborhoods (Marigny, Irish Channel, Chalmette, etc.). And, I ONLY stay at vacation rentals. It's the ONLY way to stay! So . . . . . STOP reading this review and BOOK this location. It's got EVERYTHING you need . . . big bed (which can be converted to 2 smaller) . . . full kitchen . . . central, SAFE, quiet location . . . BIG ol' back yard that ya gotta see to believe . . . HOT water with PLENTY o' pressure . . . TV with a gazillion channels . . . your own heater/ac (which you control) . . . plenty o' parking right out front . . . and Herb's a great and knowledgeable homeowner. Have you rented yet?!?!? What r you waiting for? If you're a couple or flying solo, you're NOT gonna get a better deal. Trust me! I do this ALL the time. This place is SO good that I DIDN'T fly home after my first stay and stayed here AGAIN (I swear . . . I'm writing this review during my second stay here in 2 weeks) . . . Yeah, it's like that . . . That should tell you something!

My wife and I decided to go on a quick vacation on a whim and NOLA seemed like a perfect fit. We found this place and the owner, Herb, was quick to reply and easy to work with over the internet. Once we arrived we were excited to find that the pictures and previous good reviews were spot on! We had a wonderful time in NOLA and this studio is the perfect launch pad for your NOLA adventures. Herb and his place are quintessential New Orleans and you feel at home during your stay. We drove our car and brought our scooter and had no problems with parking here. You can't beat the location and the place was clean, heating and cooling worked fine, kitchen was perfect for a couple of quick meals and the owner was always helpful and easy to get in touch with if we had any questions. I would highly recommend this beautiful home for your next vacation!

This is a great place in a lovely tree-lined, elegant neighborhood. We walked to restaurants, coffee shop, grocery store, and the race track for the opening races on Thanksgiving Day. We took a bus out front to the edge of the French Quarter. After a cordial greeting and run-through of where to find things, the owner provided us a nice balance of availability, if and when we needed anything, and privacy otherwise. The galley kitchen was well equipped and we prepared a number of meals there; the bathroom had plenty of linens, etc., to last us for the week. We definitely recommend this place.

My husband and I spent 2 weeks at Herb's place in May 2012. Wonderful stay all around. Herb was such a fantastic host, answering all of our questions and advising us as to the best places to go. He even came in half way through our stay and cleaned the place and washed all of our linens and dirty clothes! Herb also had some food in the refrigerator for us upon our arrival, which was so nice and completely unexpected. The property is quiet and perfectly located. If you didn't rent a car, then there is a bus stop about 1 block away which will bring you to the French Quarter. Would highly recommend staying with Herb and if we ever return to New Orleans, he'll be the first one that we'll call!

My boyfriend and I rented this charming New Orleans hideaway to get to spend some time together. I live on the Northshore, while he comes from Finland, so I was hoping he would get to enjoy some real culture. Herb's place was charming and perfect. The place was clean, it was set up for us, with chocolates and some things in the fridge. Unfortunately, I got sick and my poor boyfriend spent the next four days staying with me in a Northshore hospital rather than this lovely place. Herb was informative and helpful, and he really knew his history. The garden area in the back was so enchanting, and I hope to some day be able to actually go enjoy it. It was close to everything, including groceries, the bus line, the French Quarter. I would definitely recommend Herb's place to anyone coming to stay in New Orleans, even if they weren't wanting to go see the City. Herb was a gracious host, and very generously is giving us some additional time on my boyfriend's next trip to New Orleans. I can't wait to go back again!
