We were two families spending a week in the SFO area. One family was coming from Montreal and the other from Paris. Being with young kids, it was very important for us to settle down in a comfortable house, spacious enough to accommodate both families and yet capable of offering some privacy. We found exactly what we were looking for at Eric's house. The house was perfectly clean and fully equipped with up to date appliances. Just a little tiny critic: being all heavy coffee drinkers, we would have loved to have a real coffee machine ! But we managed to use the Bodum a lot... The location was indeed perfect for our needs: 15 minutes from SF and the beaches and also, near to the Sonoma-Napa valleys. And the little plus: the view from the upper deck is extraordinary, it gives you a sense that you conquered the mountain. While the kids were playing in the huge living room, the adults could sit in the long chairs with a glass of Chardonnay, have a view at the bay and could really begin to relax and appreciate the wonders of California. We had a wonderful stay, thanks to our hosts and to John, who also was kind enough to show us great places to visit in the area.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.
Owner response: We put a lot of hard work into making our home as comfortable as possible for our guests. We appreciate the advice about a coffee maker -- it's a good idea and we will provide one in the future. Regards, Eric

This place is amazing! The pictures do not fully capture the sweeping views and quiet, secluded location on a very private hillside road. The home is surrounded by gorgeous forest trees and situated above the fog that often envelops San Francisco. It's a short drive or walk to Mill Valley, which is a small, affluent town with top-notch restaurants, theatre, and shopping. Right from the front door, you can mountain bike to the top of nearby Mt. Tamalpais on a private road without crossing a single major road. Tiburon and Sausalito (with ferries to downtown SF) and the Golden Gate Bridge are a short drive or bike ride away. Sonoma Valley and Napa Valley vineyards are less than a 45 minute drive away. Muir Woods Redwood Forest is only 3 miles away. The home has guest parking for multiple vehicles, which is rare for many of the hillside homes in the area. The home felt spacious as soon as I walked in the door, thanks to soaring ceilings and large windows. It was very clean and well maintained with high-end fixtures and furnishings throughout, which made it feel more like an executive retreat than a family home. However, with the large number of bedrooms and bathrooms, a large family would have no issues with space in this home. If you want to treat yourself to a luxury home in a relaxing location but with loads of things to see and do nearby - this is the place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

This is an amazing house. You'd think that it belonged to a Rock Star and not a terrific couple with two kids. When describing this house, I say simply that it's like having a 5-Star resort all to yourself. The view from the two decks is breathtaking. One overlooks the bay and some bridges and often offers the site of deer in the woods. The other is a picture perfect look at Mount Tamalpais. It’s pretty magical in its serenity. The kitchen is so stocked and ready for action that you’d swear that it’s the set for a cooking show. With all of the amenities that you could need- and close proximity to a spate of upscale grocers, it’s like a fantasy camp for foodies. The only drawback is that your wife or girlfriend may not ever leave the sunken tub with jets. Bring a book or a camera to capture the sunrise/ sunsets that she'll miss from the deck.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.
