Experience Colorado to it's fullest in an authentic Rocky Mountain Cabin! Steps from the rushing creek in a pristine forest, leave the cares of the world behind and discover a true Colorado Rocky Mountain Vacation at The Call of the Canyon!

Nestled in a majestic canyon setting among tall pines and giant aspen trees is Call of the Canyon. Located at 8,900 feet above sea level on private land surrounded by Arapaho National Forest. West Chicago Creek runs through the entire property with many waterfalls and feeds a natural pool filled with pan sized rainbow and brook trout. The creek is literally just a few feet from your door, and can be seen and heard from your cabin.

Secluded yet convenient, rustic with modern comforts, only 40 minutes to downtown Denver and less than one hour from DIA. Just 6 miles to the nearby historic mountain town of Idaho Springs, and yet so far away. This property was featured in the September, 2008 issue of 303 Magazine.

The property consists of two charming, clean and spacious vintage 1950's guest cabins which have been restored to their original nostalgic charm and an owner's cabin on approximately 7 very private and secluded wooded creekfront acres.

Rent one or both guest cabins, which are ideally suited for everything from a romantic getaway for two to a small gathering of family or friends. Sleeps up to 8 guests in 2 cabins. There is NO television, telephone or stress!

The Fir and Pine Cabins are both fully furnished, well equipped, and tastefully decorated in a rustic cabin theme, complete with snowshoes and antique wooden skis. Each cabin features 1 bedroom and 1 bath, exterior log siding, full knotty pine interior, and hardwood floors throughout.

A large moss-rock woodburning fireplace is the focal point in the main room of each cabin, which consists of a living area with futon and rocking chair facing the fireplace, a well stocked full kitchen, and eating area with seating for 4-8 which faces a large picture window framing panoramic canyon and river views.

Each bedroom has a very comfortable queen-size log bed with feather mattress topper, quality flannel linens, fully encased mattresses, and beautiful quilts. There is a simple bathroom with shower off each bedroom. Locally handcrafted soaps and guest bathrobes are included.

An outdoor cedar sauna offers relaxation after a day of exploring, and there are plenty of private outdoor seating areas situated along the creek. Enjoy relaxing in the hammock or log bench on the secluded island next to a waterfall. Unobstructed canyon and mountain views offer spectacular night skyscapes.

Situated on a quiet, well-maintained county road with easy year round access. Just five hundred yards off the Mount Evans Scenic Byway and halfway between Idaho Springs and Echo Lake. Drive the highest paved road in the Northern Hemisphere which leads you to The Call of the Canyon.

This is where the Colorado Gold Rush begain in 1859! You can still explore working mines and pan for gold and gemstones or discover abandoned ghost towns nearby. The cabin is located on an historic gold and mineral mining claim. There were never any actual mines on the property, but you might get lucky panning for gold in the creek! Gold pans and instructions are provided.

FOUR 14,00+ foot peaks to explore nearby: Mt. Evans, Mt. Bierstadt, Gray's & Torrey's Peaks. World Class skiing at more than 6 major ski areas, all within 20 minutes to less than an hour away! Colorado's newest ski area, Echo Mountain Park, is only 12 miles from your cabin and offers night skiing. Enjoy shopping and dining in the nearby mountain towns of Idaho Springs, Georgetown and Evergreen.

For serious adventure seekers, take a whitewater rafting trip on one of the steepest raftable waterways in the nation, moments away and still one of Colorado's best kept secrets. Or try one of several new Zip Lines close by. Miles of wilderness trails surround the cabin. Fish, Hike, Bike, Cross Country Ski and Snowshoe right from your door!

After a day of exploring the abundance of activities nearby, come home to the comfort of your cozy mountain cabin. Stoke up a crackling fire in the big stone fireplace, a feature you're sure to enjoy year round at this altitude! Later, the warmth of your log featherbed, made up with cozy flannel linens awaits. Let the sounds of the babbling creek just outside your window lull you into a deep and restful slumber. Wake up refreshed and enjoy your morning coffee creekside while catching a glimpse of the many species of birds and wildlife who make this beautiful setting home. Cross the wooden footbridge to the secluded island and read or nap from the hammock while listening to the waterfall. Enjoy a glass of wine from one of the many creekside seating areas while watching an incredible red sky sunset reflecting from the canyon wall. Now isn't this what a true Colorado cabin vacation is all about?

The cabin and surrounding area was everything we had hoped for and more! I thought I would die without cell/internet/tv, but I actually dreaded going into town and my phone beeping with messages. If I had not left children back at home, I may not have turned it on at all. The cabin is beautiful, the amenities are perfect, sitting out by the creek, or laying in the hammock. I recommend it to anyone who just needs to get away from it all. It was a perfect location, so many things to do within a few short miles.

We found these cabins on the internet and the pictures don't even begin to show how beautiful and cozy these cabins are. We rented both cabins for for our family of 6 to surprise dad for Father's Day - it couldn't have been more perfect. Between fishing, campfires, and just relaxing by the river, Dad was in heaven! This trip really brought us closer as a family. The cabin itself was beyond our expectations, clean, comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed to make the most of the time we had together. The views and sounds of the water from the cabins are phenomenal! We left renewed and refreshed and wishing we had more time in this wonderful place. We are already planning our next reunion at Call of the Canyon Cabins!

You were an absolute joy to work with and it was my pleasure having you and your family as guests. I'm delighted to hear how much your father enjoyed his special day! We look forward to having you celebrate many more happy family reunions at Call of the Canyon Cabins.

June 15 - 17, 2011...We came to Call of the Canyon Cabins as a place to stay while we got married, saw a concert at Red Rocks, and ran up Mt. Evans - and with so much on our list of things to do, we were happy to have such a BEAUTIFUL place to come home to each day! The cabin and area around it were everything we had hoped they'd be and more. We will always look back on this place with fond memories of where we spent our first day as husband and wife.

October 8 - 10, 2010....Mary, Thank you so much for your sweet hospitality from the start! We thorougly enjoyed our 2nd little honeymoon getaway! The accommodations are exactly what we hoped for and more! Relaxing for sure. The stream lulled us to sleep each night and the sound of the wind wrestling through the leaves was a beautiful start to our day. Everything was great - inside and out! Aaron enjoyed chopping the wood for our countless fires and I enjoyed warming my "lumberjack" :) We will be back for sure! May the Lord bless you and all who stay in the Pine Cabin.

Mary, I am so thankful that my husband's internet search led us here to your hidden treasure. We love the cabin. We enjoyed cooking in your well equipped kitchen, sitting by the fire and of course the sauna. My favorite spot of all is the bench where the creek splits. You are surrounded by the sounds of water. Thank you for sharing. - Steve & Juliet

Lori & Rich's top picks to make your stay more enjoyable: 1 - Do drink coffee while gazing out the picture window on how the morning light changes. 2 - Do drive up Mt. Evans road and take in the awesome scenery. 3 - Do hike up Chief Mtn (1 hr 10 min for those of average abilities) to 11,709 ft with fantastic views. Trailhead is just beyond mile marker 18, park on west bound side once you see the sign for "Echo Ski 1/2 mile". 4 - Do enjoy a glass of wine while listening to the bubbling creek and gazing at the stars. 5 - Do consider cooking for yourself - Safeway is a God Send, or have the ribs at Tommy Knocker's or the fried chicken at Wildfire - but definitely skip ****** **** (name of restaurant is in guest book but was omitted by owner for this posting)...Mary was generous when she said "you really can't get a bad meal in Idaho Springs".....Hope those reading this have as nice a stay as we have in this homey retreat. Mary, thank you for sharing. Best Wishes, Lori & Rich B, Clifton Park, NY

The weather wasn't exactly as we hoped - which you'll get out here but gave us the perfect excuse to lay around by a cozy fire & cook some wonderful meals. Thanks again, Carlene & John

Came from Washington, DC, Sonoma County, CA & Bethlehem, PA for a girls weekend. We had a great time relaxing, catching up, exploring and having a beautiful time. Thanks for the wonderful place to stay. Went to Idaho Springs to watch our college game (Michigan State) at Tommy Knockers, walked around town and enjoyed this beautiful get away. Thanks!
