We loved this place. We stayed in the studio for the first three nights and last night in the one bedroom apartment. I have to say our first impression was "Wow!". The facility is modern, clean, simple, and very comfortable. It has everything described on the property listing. There's free laundry facility in studio and also in the one bedroom apartment so that you don't have to over packed. You can help yourself with free coffee, tea, and bottled water. Reliable WiFi, DirecTV. The Red Line El is about 5 minutes walk. Garage parking is very convenient. We will definitely stay here on our next trip back to Chicago.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+.

We picked Magnolia Studios because it looked to offer the privacy and coziness we wanted for our stay in Chicago. As soon as we arrived, that is exactly what we felt. The studio was clean, quiet and very hospitable. With its proximity to Chicago's Red Line, you can easily get to anywhere in the city. We originally planned on staying for several days, but unfortunately our travel plans were cut short because of a family emergency. Kate was extremely considerate and accommodating, offering kind assistance throughout our stay. The studio's bathroom and kitchen were very convenient. The bed and sofas were comfortable and inviting. We couldn't have asked for more out of Magnolia Studios, and came away extremely satisfied with our stay. As much as we enjoyed the studio, Kate's friendly help was without question the reason why we'll come back whenever we need to stay in Chicago in the future.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

. The apartment we had was very spacious with a large sitting area, a genuine study area and an excellent well-equipped kitchen which would allow you to cook proper meals should you so wish. The thermostatic aircon is awesome and we have never seen more plug sockets anywhere. The beds were amongst the best we have ever slept in - apart from our own!! You could stay there long term and be very happy and the value is outstanding . Downtown is easily accessible by Metro and nearby Andersonville has good shopping and restaurants, do try the Adriatic Restaurant 5535 N Clark St. Kate and Ashley are extremely welcoming and exceptionally helpful hosts who make you want to return (we certainly will). Altogether a memorable stay and we wholeheartedly recommend it - it really did live up to the listing and the photos are extremely accurate. Owner response: Sue and Robert We're so glad that the apartment worked for you and we loved having you here. We're looking forward to your next visit and in the meantime enjoy your travels and test some new wines! very many thanks, Kate, Ash and the crew.

We stayed at Magnolia's cheery, bright studio carriage house in April 2011, and before we left we'd booked both studios for a spring 2012 graduation! The studio is in a tree-lined neighborhood, but is just minutes from all the Windy City has to offer by driving or using the efficient mass transportation system. The English proprietors are delightful and warm, and have created lovely, lush digs for travelers. The well-appointed studio features an efficient kitchenette which is well-supplied with everything needed to make a cost-efficient breakfast right in the room. The European-style linens on the thick, comfortable mattress were a rare delight. And oh, the lovely courtyard! Why pay for a impersonal, non-descript hotel room when you can be immersed in a relaxing, comfortable home and still be downtown in minutes? It's the best of both worlds!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Lisa, thank you so much for writing this review. You and other kind guests make it a joy for us to accommodate you, and we can't wait to see you and your family back soon.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: Originally from the south coast of England, I moved to Chicago in 1998 with my husband Ashley. We loved the City on arrival, and partifcularly liked Andersonville/ Edgewater where we bought and renovated an old colonial house in 2002. The neighborhood is fun, convenient and friendly, and we now feel very much at home within a warm and eclectic circle of friends. After many years of global travelling for large corporates, I had baby Teddy in 2007 and decided to stop checking myself in and sit on the other side of the fence. Numerous hotel stays have made me realise that travelling is both fun and tiring, and so Magnolia Studios excels at providing essential comforts. We aim to send you home feeling relaxed and refreshed after sleeping in super comfortable beds, and after being in a vintage building that is private, relaxing and completely renovated. We're on hand to help with any aspect of your stay, or if you know your way around, we just let you enjoy.
The Unique Benefits at this Studio:
We are 5 minutes from the beach and Lake Michigan, and 30 minutes from downtown on th 'L' train or Lake Shore Drive. Andersonville is well eqipped with some great eclectic shops and some the best restaurants and bars in the city.
