Girl's Getaway Weekend
Girl's Getaway Weekend
This villa was the perfect place for a girl's getaway weekend. There were 9 of us and it was everything you could hope for in a rental property. I was the first one to arrive and I was so pleased with the location and how well equipped the villa was- I had taken along several things that I thought we might need and I never even took them in as they were provided by the owner. It was so much more than we expected and we are hoping to make a visit to Grizzly Jack's Resort a yearly tradition and would hope to stay here again. From my first contact with Diane, she was helpful and went out of her way to answer questions, offer suggestions and do what she could to make our stay comfortable. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to anyone who is looking for a weekend away or a relaxing vacation. We did not use the waterpark or amusement park but visited each area and it looked like a fun place for families to visit although they are not included with the rental of this villa. We also visited Starved Rock State Park and did a little shopping in Utica. Overall the area is a great place to visit and I don't think you would be disappointed!

Great Weekend at Starved Rock
Great Weekend at Starved Rock
My family's intention was to spend the weekend at Starved Rock. I had never rented a condo and was quite nervous about how easy it would be to be taken advantage of. Diane, the owner of this property, was extremely patient with me and had a great personality! When we arrived at the Condo it was leaps and bounds beyond what we expected. The pictures do not accurately display how beautiful this property is. I was extremely concerned about not having enough pots and pans to cook. Diane had everything I needed and more. Numerous pots and pans, cookie sheets, baking pans, measuring cups, mixing bowls and tons of cooking utensils. There was dish soap, dish washer soap and soap for the washing machine. There was plenty of everything and no chance of us running out of items. The only thing I would recommend for your own pleasure is to bring lawn chairs for the upstairs decks. They are beautiful and you are really missing out if you don't take the opportunity to enjoy it. Even though it was a condo we had plenty of privacy which I found amazing. The bedrooms offer massive amounts of room. The price definitely can't be beat. We had a wonderful time taking advantage of the State Parks in the area. The time we got to spend as a family was priceless. No Wifi to distract my son was great! We brought out Wii with and played some family games on that. The jacuzzi was a blessing after the long day of hiking. The photos may not reflect it but it is definitely big enough for two. We were quite apprehensive about renting a condo and now we can't wait to go back. I have been recommending Diane's property to everyone we talk to. Even my son, who is a technology lover, enjoyed every moment. He said it was great getting to spend all the family time together. We never had time to take advantage of the facilities the Resort had to offer and regret nothing other than over packing. Next time we know all we need is our clothes and the lawn chairs. It makes for some nice romance to have the fireplace going while sitting on the deck. You definitely get plenty of privacy out there

Nice view, Huge & clean
Nice view, Huge & clean
We just got back from staying here and had a wonderful time. This unit is located next to the ravina and there are such beautiful views. Plus there is a back trail that quickly takes you to the front of the resort. Our 2 boys ages 4 & 2 loved the bouncey area next to the arcade at the resort. Quick drive to Starved Rock where we hiked for 2 hours with the kids. The unit has a huge kitchen, 2 baths and both bedrooms are great size with patio doors on each...felt so nice to have open with fresh fall air. Had a wonderful vacation and have already recommend this rental to our friends.

Year Purchased: 2004
About the owner: My wife and I purchased this property in 2004. We fell in love with the location and the atmosphere this property exuded. After 30 years of traveling with the family, we felt that this property exemplified what all of us could enjoy at any age. Young to old(us) there is something for everyone separately and together. The memories that we have created in just the short time that we have owned, have already made this the favorite place for the family to vacation.
Why the Owner Chose Utica:
Just across the street from Starved Rock State Park which provides a rich history and awesome hiking, the location just cannot be beat. Although you feel as though you are out in the middle of nowhere, you are just a few miles from a mall with stores, restaurants and a movie theatre. A 1/2 mile in any direction brings you to horse-back riding and the Illinois river. There are locations to canoe or just hike and view the various waterfalls. The river has a marina with fishing boat rentals as well as jet-ski rentals and pleasure boats.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
Some of my favorite moments are sitting quietly outside with my coffee in the morning and listening to the birds and nothing else. It is so peaceful. The other favorite time of day is watching the sun set over the trees and listening to the quietness. Awelcome change from the hectic pace of home. Although the resort does not allow pets, just a few miles down the street is Paws Here Pet Resort which gives the best care and pampering of your animal family member. You are close enough to pick them up and go for morning or evening walks and play.
