We drove down from Sussex and arrived late at night at the Sunday House. Turning off of the main road we drove down a steep lane covered by trees and arrived in the sleepy fishing village called Golant. If Bilbo Baggins has walked up the road I would not have been surprised. Golant is the sort of place where the world stops...zero mobile reception and the possibility to relax and hear the silence. The house is a converted church with very tall ceilings and the owners have cleverly worked out how to place 3 bedrooms and a kids "den/bedroom" into the old stone building. Golant is on an estuary and be careful when you park your car near the pub 100 meters away from the house...the tide can rise and "wash" your car. The house is cosy and has all of the mod cons and my only negative point was that the church organ does not work! The incredible Eden Project is nearby and we visited the beautiful beach called Lantic. You can hire sea kayaks at the bottom of the lane near the water and explore the estuary.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My husband and I rented the Sunday house along with a group of our friends over the bank holiday weekend. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The house was beautiful, every room unique and decorated to the highest standards. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed. It even had lovely touches like warm bathrobes to lounge in and a heat lamp to sit on the patio with. Everyone enjoyed there stay so much, I can not recommend this place enough. We are already discussing our next stay!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We booked the Sunday House for a family reunion In Cornwall. All members of the family, young and old, were impressed with the house. The kids loves the children's room and there was enough space for 6 adults to co-exist without falling out. The house was well presented and had the wow factor with high ceilings, an old organ and large windows. Golant is a very pretty village, we tried out the local pub and the restaurant at the Cormorant hotel which were both good. We also used the private chef recommended by the Sunday House one night which was an excellent experience. Overall I would definitely recommend the house as a great self catering option.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

A family of 7 with 2 toddlers and a little baby stayed for a week in August and loved it. It's very atmospheric, comfortable, spacious and everything that we needed was there. To be quite honest, it's perhaps not ideal for those with toddlers because there are quite a lot of stairs but, having stayed before, we just knew to take our travel stairgates. We enjoyed the spacious lounge on an evening, the comfortable en suite bedrooms with fla t screen tvs and drinks out on the terrace in the sun. Golant is fantastic, parking fairly nearby, a lovely local pub and a great walk to Fowey. We expect to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

"We loved The Sunday House! You have a beautiful house. We were only in at night we went everywhere, we were stunned at the amount of things to do and see in the area. For a non-sun holiday (for October the weather was great) we had an amazing time. Hope to be back next year. Many thanks to Louisa for making us so welcome."Did you find this review helpful? "A really property which we thoroughly enjoyed. I think we were lucky with the weather, we really enjoyed Carne beach and Fowey. The home would be really hard to improve on. Our two kids found the Wii delightful. Many thanks for sharing your home with us. Thank you for a wonderful holiday, it was most enjoyable, the crabbing in the river was great, we love the house... we want to live here!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

"We so enjoyed our time at The Sunday House, what an experience to stay in a home with such history, charm and all the mod cons. The village is so beautiful and so close to so many activities, we canoed, rode horses, hiked and visited many historical places. But some of our favourite moments were lounging in the living room with all of us deep in a book. An unheard of event for a family with 4 teenagers from Los Angeles. The evenings on the deck with our wine were lovely too. Where are we off to next? Love your Golant home, we are ready for more!!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

"Where do I begin, I found the Sunday House online and thought it looked perfect for our anniversary getaway. It was perfect, the owner, Louisa, was really helpful and pleasant. Before our arrival she kindly posted us a book that she compiled with local area information, things to do, favourite restaurants, etc. The house keeper, Karen, arranged to have all of our food shopping delivered and unpacked before we arrived. We were welcomed with a thoughtful gift basket of local fares and a bottle of Champs to celebrate our anniversary. As far as the whole setting, it's amazing- fantastic decor, very comfortable with a lot of thought to detail. We loved the fluffy robes, plush beach towels and amenities. The kitchen was well organised, excellent cooking facilities, kettle, coffee maker, Nepresso machine, Dualit toaster and a good supply of all kitchen equipment and high quality tableware. We had wonderful dinners at several restaurants in Fowey, 'Sam's', 'Nathan Outlaws', 'The Other Place', 'Q Restaurant' to name a few. Enjoyed our walks along the river and coastal paths. Evenings sitting in the beer garden at the local pub (300 yd's away) overlooking the River Fowey. The area beaches were gorgeous. The property itself was well located for our outings. We loved driving back to the village. The surrounding area is very picturesque. I'm really looking forward to spending my next anniversary at the Sunday House- I highly recommend for a luxury break in a lovely setting."Did you find this review helpful? "We've enjoyed a very relaxing family holiday at The Sunday House. It is spacious and comfortable enough for the 6 of us to spread out, find peaceful places to read during the rainy times (many) and gather on the terrific terrace for a few BBQ's on the fine evenings. The view from here is wonderfully tranquil. Food and beer from the local pub are good especially if it is warm enough to sit outside. The Quay House in Fowey provided a wonderful location to celebrate my birthday. We would recommend the hall walk from Polruan to Bodinnick, great pub there with river views, then return on the car ferry as a foot passenger. Also the walk along the saints way is very pleasant from The Sunday House. We hope to return. Thanks for providing such an attractive and restful location for our holiday and for sharing your lovely home with us."Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
