Our cozy 2-story chalet is located right at the base of Alyeska in Girdwood, Alaska. The chalet is bright and sunny, with lots of windows and a great view of the mountain. The chalet is fully equipped with everything you need for a relaxing getaway in Girdwood.
There is a master bedroom with a king size bed and bathroom on the first floor. On the second floor there is a bedroom with a queen bed as well as a twin bed suitable for a child or adult, A loft with a queen bed, and a small bathroom with a shower. Downstairs there is a great deck off the living room with barbeque, outdoor table and chairs, and 8 person deluxe hot tub. The deck gets endless hours of sunshine during the long summer days and is perfect for outdoor dining.
There is a full kitchen with dishwasher, pantry, pots and pans, and kitchen supplies. The mountain is just steps from the front door and ideal for walking, hiking, biking, and many other activities. There are several great spots for dining, coffee, shopping, sightseeing, within walking distance.
We spend every weekend here in the winter and it has become our peaceful getaway since buying it three years ago. This is the first time we have rented it during the summer and know that you will enjoy it as much as we do. See you soon in our beautiful state.

My family and I (6 people) stayed at the Girdwood Chalet for three nights in June 2012. We received lots of helpful information about Girdwood and Anchorage from the owner prior to our arrival. It seemed like we had made a very wise choice until we walked upstairs. We have several tall people in our family and they could not stand upright in the upstairs shower. Also the loft bedroom was cramped and my brother-in-law and nephew moved the bed out of the cramped space and slept in the loft bed the three nights of our stay. Upon leaving AK, we received emails and a video from the owner saying we had broken the loft bed beyond repair and we would not receive our deposit back. We were unaware of any damage to the bed when we left the property. It is too bad this happened because we enjoyed our stayed although the property was not the best fit for us. This was our first experience with VRBO and at this time, I am apprehensive about using VRBO in the future.Recommended for: Adventure seekers.
Owner response: Our home is a 2 bedroom chalet, with a sleeping loft. We do not make any representations the loft area is a bedroom. The loft has a queen size bed, side table, and a large chair and comfortably sleeps 2 adults without any need for furniture to be moved. As mentioned in the listing, the upstairs has a small bathroom with a sink, toilet, and small shower. The downstairs bathroom is more suitable for taller guests, as the ceiling of the upstairs bathroom is angled. We really enjoyed the chalet! The chalet was fully stocked and easily accommodated our party of 5. Owner provided invaluable tips on local dining, sightseeing, etc. Loved the tram up Mt Alyeska and hiking through the woods - saw lots of wildlife, including bears and moose. Also took day trips to Whittier and surrounding area for lots of hiking and Glacier viewing. Our Glacier cruise was amazing! Would definitely recommend this chalet and the Girdwood area - we absolutely LOVED our stay in Alaska!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Our group of 7 had an enjoyable stay at the Chalet. Property was clean, well maintained, great location. We were close to Anchorage yet we also traveled to Seward. Owners were very helpful with ideas/suggestions for our trip. I would recommend this property to someone who is looking for a nice and comfortable place to stay on their trip. Recommend a ride up the tram at Alyeska for some nice views and hiking along with a trip to the Double Musky restaurant for dinner. We were very happy and would stay here again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: My husband and I are nearly 3rd generation Alaskans. We were both born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska and our families have been in alaska for over 60 years. We have both lived in many other places, but there was no hesitation in making Alaska our permanent home. We love getting out and skiing, fishing, camping, and adventuring around Alaska. We also love to travel to new places, and are really excited to share our chalet with people visiting our great state.
Why the Owner Chose Girdwood:
My husband has been an Alpine skier his whole life. His family had a house in Girdwood while he was growing up, and the family enjoyed many wonderful years of memories there. We both love getting out of town and Girdwood is an ideal year-round getaway. We rented for a few years, before our house came on the market. The location is perfect, we can walk right up to the lifts, coffee shop, favorite lunch spots, or just stroll around the neighborhood. We couldn't ask for a better location! In the summer I often jog around the neighborhood, and never get tired of the towering trees, fresh air, and beautiful surroundings.
