'The Pink House' is a modern, 3 bedroom beach house with an open-plan designed to best enjoy the ocean breeze, pink sands and crystal clear ocean of Broad Bay on the Atlantic side of Long Island, in the Southern Bahamas. Broad Bay is a sweeping vista of cerulean blue, with multiple swimming and snorkeling areas, the best being right out front. (We even have our own wreck). Enjoy watching osprey soar above the wrap-around upper decks.
The Pink House is on the windward side of the island, where constant cooling trade winds off the ocean remove the need for unnatural air conditioning.
Within a ten minute drive is quaint Clarence Town with restaurants, the famous twin-spires St Peters church, and a marina. Long Island is famous for having the worlds deepest blue hole at Deans, as well as deep caves, stunning scenery and jaw-dropping beaches. All amenities including car rental, shopping, supermarkets, liquor stores, deep sea or flats bone fishing, dining etc are available on the island.
The Pink House - Living: The main, open-plan living area of this modern beach house is on the upper level and opens up to the cool ocean breezes via three sliding patio doors. The layout consists of a large relaxing living area furnished in modern Sveva lounge and dining suites and fully equipped kitchen. Take in the stunning view from the front or rear balcony where you can sun yourself while you gaze out over the gorgeous vistas. The property sits on a third of an acre of unspoiled Atlantic coast and is surrounded by the natural flora which consists mainly of sea grape, sea oats grass and dwarf silver-top palms. This is a very special, undiscovered corner of paradise.
The Pink House - Sleeping: Each bedroom on the the upper level has an en-suite with full double basin, shower and WC. The master suite has a tiled bath included. Both bedrooms open up to the upper deck via a patio door, which can be left open at night to enjoy the cooling breeze. The sound of the ocean waves just over the small sandy bluff will lull you into a relaxing sleep. The third bedroom is on the lower level, accessed from an outside breezeway with en-suite toilet and basin. There is an outside shower on the ground level. All three bedrooms and the living areas are equipped with ceiling fans.

We have stayed at "The Pink Beach House" four times to date and plan to return next year. It has become one of our favourite vacation destinations. It is situated in a natural island setting and is well secluded from neighbours. The" truely" ocean front location is privy to an outstanding, unspoiled ocean view. The beach is literally steps from the house and is long enough to enjoy a 1-2 hour walk. Being on the ocean side swimming is subject to the the tide and surf. But the house is conveniently located within a few minutes drive to many beautiful, white sandy, uninhabited beaches on the other side of the island. A car rental would be neccessary. However, part of the beauty of a holiday on Long Island is exploring and discovering the out of the way, secluded beaches, eating at native restaurants and visiting the famous sites like Dean's Blue Hole or Lochabar Bay. As far as accommodations go, the house is very clean, bright, airy, well cared for with good-sized rooms. The main living area is on the second story-typical of island homes-and the layout-bedroom/ensuite-on either side of the greatroom/kitchen-is perfect for relaxed, comfortable vacation living. The decorating is simple and tastefully done;the furnishings are wisely chosen for holiday life. There are second-story decks on both side of the house, providing shade or sun and a constant breeze, cathedral ceilings and ceiling fans help to maintain a comfortable environment. The kitchen is well-equipped and having a washer and dryer meant we could pack lightly. (Rarely do you need more than a bathing suit, towel, flip flops, sunscreen and cover-up.) The native people are very friendly and there is an overall very relaxed life style on the island. Dress code expected at restaurants is, for the most part comfortable/ informal. As far as we are concerned this is truly an "island gem". It is not very often you find a secluded, well-maintained vacation property located in a natural setting, directly on the beach and at a reasonable price. It is a beautiful, quiet, relaxing home-away-from home vacation rental .Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thanks very much for a complete and in-depth review of our beach house, as well as the many interesting facets of Long Island.

My wife and I stayed at the pink house on lovely Long Island, Bahamas, as a gift to each other on our anniversary. Long island is a very natural, unspoiled, Caribbean utopia, unlike most of the places we have stayed. The pink house is situated on a bluff overlooking the bluest ocean and is very well designed for a beach front location. The house is fresh and the decor, wonderfully creative. For a relaxing vacation you can't go wrong here.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with teenagers.
Owner response: Thank you for the lovely review. Please remember to tell all your friends and family. We look forward to your visit next year.

We stayed for two blissful weeks in this very comfortable and secluded house on a long, sandy and private beach. Days were spent swimming, reading on the wraparound deck, snorkeling, collecting shells, and exploring the island's small towns, and famous blue holes. Next time we hope to go fishing. Long Island is a real find. It is unspoiled and quiet. The Pink House will see us again.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+.
Owner response: Thank you very much for the lovely review. We look forward to your next stay and really enjoy hearing that our guests have had a good time.

I spent time at the Pink House before it was listed for rental. Even then it fulfilled all my requirements for a laid-back yet exciting holiday. The crystal clear turquoise sea, surrounding natural bush, pearly pink sea sand, breathtaking sunrises, balmy winter temperatures, splendid peace and isolation, all work together to create a feeling of "life is great!" I still feel the joy when I re-live images of sun-soaked days beach-combing on deserted beaches, dipping into the waves or floating in the swells or snorkelling amidst reef fish, harvesting coconuts from trees just off the shoreline, breaking them open and enjoying the fruit right there... Such stunning unspoiled natural beauty, such delicious self-mixed rum, coconut milk and pineapple juice cocktails, such freedom to roam unconcerned with time, needing only bikini and sarong - this is truly the stuff that dreams are made of. In terms of the accommodation, all details provided in the listing are accurate. The owners go out of their way to ensure creature comforts in a simple yet attractive setting. This is a place where one feels at home, and I would not recommend it for those who require a more sophisticated and charged atmosphere. All my needs were met by what is provided, and I was completely satisfied with the condition and cleanliness of the cottage. There are some delightful local eating places, and sampling local dishes added to the pleasure of the holiday. At some of these places one can also enjoy live local music some nights. Visits to the two magnificent blue holes stand out. If you and your family enjoy spending a lot of time outdoors in beautiful natural surroundings, yet also appreciate comfort and entertainment like reading and viewing DVDs etc indoors, I do most heartily recommend the Pink House for a holiday in paradise. I wish all my friends and relatives could experience this.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Deb, we appreciate the time you have taken to write this review and trust that others will enjoy the simple pleasures of The Pink House as much as you did during your stay.
