This house was perfect for a family reunion. The size is way understated. You not only have 3 bedrooms but an additional bonus room and loft area. It sleeps 10 plus easily. We had four generations of family with us and it was so easy to navigate for all. Ages ranged from 14 months to 87 years young. It was the perfect family vacation home.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

This is our second year at this house and we love it. It is well-equipped but not extravagant. The location of this house is fantastic. The layout of Sullivan's Island is unusual, and while this house is across the street from the beach, there are fewer steps to the beach than there are with many houses classified as "front beach". (Dunes and grassy areas in some other areas make the walk to the beach much further.) Station 29 is ideal, because you have your choice of a gigantic tidal pool or the ocean. (Any further North and you front on the dangerous Breach Inlet", with its currents and steep drop-offs). But Station 29 is perfect for familes with kids. While it isn't as close to the restaurants as other areas, it is an easy 5-7 minute bike ride. The house comes with a one-person kayak, several boogie boards, various kids' buckets and shovels, AND a beach cart for hauling your stuff to and from the beach. The family that owns the house was very nice and easy to deal with. This isn't the fanciest house on the island, but it is nicely done and we plan to stay there again in the future. I can't say enough good things about Sullivan's Island in general - it is our entire family's favorite place in the world!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We found this family beach home to be a great place to really sit back, relax and chill. It is second row...there is a view of the ocean...plus, you can HEAR all those beautiful waves rolling in. It is spacious and open with plenty of space to store all the "stuff" you bring when you are beaching it!!!!!!!!! Beach access is directly across the street. This home was even equipped with a one man kayak...my husband and daughters really enjoyed this toy! We will be going back. The owners were very easy to deal with and very accomodating!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

Julie & Family - thanks for a FANTASTIC week! A perfect spot to unwind before leaving our daughter at school... Your house was so comfortable and we really felt the warmth of a "family beach house"... Having access to your beach chairs, beach "toys" and towels was a HUGE bonus!! I can't really think of anything that is needed... All of the "extras" you have available for guests to use is so helpful - paper products, detergents, foil, film wrap, etc.... You don't get that when you rent from a rental company... We also thoroughly enjoyed the puzzles - especially since it rained 3 days straight!! Also, the proximity of your house to downtown Charleston is fantastic - no more than a 15 minute drive to museums, shopping and outstanding restaurants... The best of both worlds! Thanks for the golf cart rental recommendation - it was perfect! It was sitting in your carport when I arrived and he picked it up upon our departure. Easy transaction and very reasonably priced! Thanks again for everything - We would love to come back next year!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This was the perfect beach house for us to rent. The open floor plan provided a large and flexible amount of gathering space. There were porches front and back for enjoying the breezes. We were even closer to the beach than we realized (even having looked on Google Maps). The owners provided plenty of kitchen supplies, towels, and beach toys and chairs, so that we could quickly settle in and feel at home. The house was clean and ready for us. We would love to stay again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

This house was perfect for a beach week with family. The house itself was roomy, comfortable, and spotless. Ocean views and a short walk across the street to the sand. The neighborhood was beautiful and quiet. The beach offered calm surf as a sandbar kept the waves offshore (yet accessible for those of us who wanted to play in the waves). Area shops offered watersport rentals and lessons at affordable rates. Mt. Pleasant restaurants and shops are very close. Downtown Charleston is a short ride across that beauitful bridge. Rates were very reasonable. The owner was very pleasant and approachable. Overall a great experience for everyone.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Owner info
About the owner: This is a family home which was built in 1990 following the destruction of the original house on the lot by Hurricane Hugo (you will see a photo on the wall of the lot the day after the storm that appeared on the front page of the New York Times). The house has been used alternately as a vacation rental and family home for the last ten years or so.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It is filled with amazing memories of family gatherings, parties, beach outings, oyster roasts, fresh crab and shrimp dinners, sun bathing on the lower deck, looking for horned toads and ghosts crabs under the house. Now when we stay there, one of our favorite rituals is to rise early every morning, grab a beach chair and large mug of coffee and go sit in the sand at the waters edge to enjoy our coffee and plan our day. For me, this house represents a peaceful, idyllic life.
