We loved spending a few days at the cottage. It was comfortable, in a great location, and best of all...dog friendly! Mexico Beach is a great get-away for families and is perfectly low-key, with just the perfect amount of cute shops and restaurants. We enjoyed Peppers Mexican Food in Port St. Joe, the Fish House in Mexico Beach, and drinks at Toucan's. This cottage was a very short walk to the beach, where dogs are also welcomed.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners.

This wonderful charming house was so nice. It was clean with great beds and all the comfort you could ask for. Loved the porch. We were on the beach sunrise and sunset every day. A short drive to Apalachicola took us to the Florida sea food fest. Best fest ever and the food " Wow ". Wish we owned this place. Thanks , Larry & Sherry

Perfect, quiet beach vacation home

We loved staying at The Nest during our recent vacation! It is charming, clean, beautifully decorated, feels spacious and is a short walk to the beach. The owner, Susan, was generous and easy to work with. Mexico Beach is a quiet electic beach community. We enjoyed visiting Port St. Joe (Piggly Wiggly steamed shrimp is very good), Cape San Blas, and St. Joe State Park as well. Crooked Island shell seeking was fun. We found rays there, so wear shoes while walking in the tide pools and shuffle your feet. We ate at the Fish House, Sister's and Toucans (for the burgers). With children, a trip to Gulf World Marine Park in Panama City Beach is worth the drive. We had a great lunch at Dee's Hangout while in PCB. We highly recommend The Nest and look forward to another stay there very soon.

If relaxing is what you have in mind, this is the place to visit. The cottage is very well equiped and decorated. The beach is wonderful and pet frendly!

Wonderful experience, the place is nicely decorated and well equipped. The beach cart is a nice addition even for the short walk to the beach. Our small dogs loved the beach, their first experience :) The screened in porch was nice place to sit and keep the bugs off in the evening.

Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway.

Best beach vacation ever - really.

My wife and I have been vacationing on the Gulf from Gulf Shores to Cedar Key for nearly twenty years. Our stay at The Nest last week was the best trip yet. The cottage is so comfortable, so nicely appointed, and so conveniently located. The beach along this area is spectacular, so wonderfully undeveloped, and we love riding our bikes around Mexico Beach and Beacon Hill. The weather was perfect - cool enough that we weren't afraid to step outside, and warm enough to enjoy the water. We are already looking forward to returning next year. If we could suggest two small improvements we would 1) love an outdoor shower (though we rigged one with a hose and shower head from Cathey's Hardware), and 2) provide some sort of storage or rack for securing our numerous bikes. But these are mere quibbles considering how otherwise perfect The Nest was for our family of five. Thank you!

Better than the Pictures

What a nice little get away! Upon arriving at our home away from home, we were pleasantly surprised to find a well stocked kitchen, cozy furniture, a welcoming front porch- including a gas grill! . The home was super clean too! The cottage is everything you could hope for and is within easy walking distance to the beach, you could see the ocean from the front porch. Our dog Isabella loved it too, took her to the beach with us one day and it was very dog friendly. We went snorkling and went on sunset cruise (Seahorse rentals). My 6 year old was very excited when they pulled sea creatures on the boat to touch,hold and learn about. I also had left my jewerly, (wedding ring etc) and the owners were all so kind and sent them to me, I received them the very next day, after my arrival home . Wow..... enough said. We truely enjoyed every minute that we were there.We can not wait to go back!

The cottage was just like the pictures. Warm, inviting and we didn't want to leave. Perfect place for an enitre family or just "girl's" weekend. I will rent this place again

My dad, husband, our children, and myself visted the cottage over Easter weekend. We didnt want to leave!!! The home has soooo much "Florida Charm"!! The decor and furnishings are lovely!! The location is perfect (a block from the beach and very close to stores and restaurants) and located in a nice neighborhood!! Susan (the owner) was AWESOME to deal with!! We live only a couple of hours from the beach, so we go often and have stayed at many rental homes in the area. This one is by far our favorite!! We can't wait to go back!!! Thanks Susan for sharing your home with us!!

Nice cottage for a family

My family and I were down at the cottage last week (Oct 2011) and had a great time. Mexico Beach is quiet and beautiful. The cottage is furnished well, has lots of little extras and the neighborhood is quiet. Quick walk (one block) to the nicest beach we've ever been on in the U.S. Great front porch (screened in) to sit out and relax. Nice kitchen. Really nice owners! : )

We really enjoyed our stay at The Nest on Beacon Hill! We were blessed to have all of our family together for a long weekend vacation. The house is definitely the nicest we have ever rented. It is exceptioally clean, well kept, and beautifully decorated! Dawsonville, GA
