Sequim house description
Relax and drink in the stunning island views from your private deck or cozy yet spacious living room. Secluded but not isolated home on the bluff above Discovery Bay. Close to town but far from the crowd. Sunny Gardiner is within the “rain shadow” of the Olympic Mountains and receives less than half the rainfall of Seattle. Twenty minutes from fine dining and art galleries in the Victorian seaport of Port Townsend. Seventeen miles from the lavender farms and festivals of Sequim. (Actually one of the prettiest farms is only a few minutes away off the 101.) Five minutes from the gaming tables, restaurants and entertainment of the Seven Cedars Casino. Five golf courses within a ½ hour drive from your bay front refuge (Loaner men's and woman's clubs are availible at the house!). Crescent Lake, the Hoh Rain Forest and Forks (of Twilight fame) and most of the Olympic Peninsula are an enjoyable day trip from this home. Ferries to Victoria are available in Port Angeles.
This recently renovated home features 1.5 acres sweeping lawns and woods, two bedrooms with queen beds, two full baths, one off the master bedroom with shower and the second off the hall with tub/shower combination. A large deck on the ocean side of the house provides outdoor dinning and lounging, as well as a barbecue for the outdoor cook. A note to our past guest - we have opened the view significantly in fall of 2011 and in winter 2012 we added a bay view sliding door to the master bedroom as well as increased the size of the bay view deck!
Home has a large bay view living room, a combination dining room and den with 42” flat screen TV, DVD player, cable and wireless internet. The separate den/dining room also includes a fold out (full) futon. The dinning table is very comfortable for six people. Kitchen is well equipped with all you need to prepare and serve lovely meals. A separate full laundry is adjacent to the kitchen.
The home is easy to reach from the Highway 101, but well away from the road in the quiet community of Gardiner. The Gardiner community boat ramp is a quarter mile down the road and the John Wayne Marina is just a few miles away.
We are less than 1/2 a mile from the home of the Olympic Peninsula Salmon Derby at Gardiner Community Boat ramp! The Salmon Derby is held in February.

Location & View
Home located on 60 foot bluff overlooking Discovery Bay. The bluff tempers the breezes coming from the bay, so while there is generally a gentle breeze, the house and deck are protected from stronger winds. Most of the day you can hear the waves shush-shushing on the shore below....moreless
Living Room, Master Bedroom and deck have a 160 degree view of the bay and Strait. View was opened in fall of 2011.There is a small seating area right on the bluff which provides a lovely view of the bay....moreless

Wonderful time - terrific house
Wonderful time - terrific house
Three generations shared this house! The teenager got the family room with a futon. Our aunt had her own bedroom and my husband and I had the other. It worked perfectly - the rooms are comfortable and attractively decorated. The property is well maintained. But, best of all is the view. The Bay view is framed by trees and it's quite breathtaking. You'll see ships in the Strait. The kitchen is well stocked with pans and there are a few spices. We're cooks so it was something we noticed. It was a good launching point to go into Sequim or to hike in the Hurricane Ridge area. We did the trip to Canada from Port Angeles and it was a bit much for one day, but the kid was thrilled to have his first passport stamped. It was very easy working with the managers. We hope to return next year.

Dreaming of Discovery
Dreaming of Discovery
This is the second time I have stayed at this place. There is an impressive view overlooking Discovery Bay and into the Strait of Juan de Fuca . You are very likely to see deer and there is an eagle that hangs out in a tree on the northeast corner of the property. A short walk takes you to a lagoon for bird watching and there is a rocky beach where people are launching their boats. The location is great. For those that like civilization…this place is half way between Port Townsend and Port Angelus. So while the property is very private, there was never a problem in getting to any place we wanted to go. So one day it was a trip to Port Worden, another day hiking on Hurricane ridge and dinners in Port Townsend and Sequim. The house itself is most comfortable and we had all the amenities we would ever want. No roughing it there. Kitchen fully loaded with the necessities and even more. There is a barbeque and a great deck to hang out on watching ships pass through the strait. There is plenty of room for people to spread out. There is a large, brand new television. The owners are very thoughtful in supplying books, movies and there is even WI-FI for us that go a bit crazy for need of an internet fix. I could go on but would rather go back…the place is wonderful in every sense of the word.

About the owner: We are a professional couple that will someday retire to Gardiner. This is our our favorite get-a-way from all the pressures of 'real life.'
Why the Owner Chose Sequim:
We love Gardiner and this home because of the mild weather, magnificent views and easy access to entertainment outdoor activities and SeaTac in Seattle. It is so peaceful, but close to all of the amenities we enjoy. We are avid golfers and hikers and this place is heaven!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
While you are staying at The Discovery, watch for the bald eagles that perch in the tall tree at the right of your view as you look at the ocean. Enjoy the deer that browse the sweet berries that thrive on this land. Birds of all sorts are always singing and hopping from tree to tree. The view of the ships passing between Discovery Bay and the Islands are dreamy as they slide silently past. Use the binoculars to see seals and the occasional Orca on the bay. Also plan a couple evenings for the fine restaurants of Port Townsend and Sequim (Breakfast at the Oak Table is not to be missed!)
