Come stay in our spacious, bright and airy home! Cathedral ceilings and multiple operational skylights that can be easily adjusted at the touch of a switch allow you to enjoy just as much of Cape Cod's beautiful light and ocean breezes as suits your mood at the moment. The layout of the house allows for both privacy and comfortable gatherings as desired. On the first floor the open design of the living room, dining area and kitchen create a large and generous space for coming together, supplemented by the expansive first floor deck and the comfortable family room on the lower level. At the same time, our 4 comfortable sleeping areas are laid out in such a way that guests can easily spread out and enjoy a real feeling of privacy in their own spaces when desired. This home is a duplex, sharing an oversized lot and a single wall with the neighboring home, but because of the space and layout of the property there is a sense of complete privacy both inside and out.
Each sleeping area provides its own special advantages - the largest bedroom, located at the top of the stairs to the second floor, is a floor-through room offering marsh and sky views from windows on both sides as well as a TV and DVD, and allowing enough room to comfortably hold a small couch in addition to the king-sized bed and other furnishings; the other second floor bedroom holds a queen-sized bed and offers access to a small private balcony/deck overlooking the back yard and adjoining marsh and furnished with a bistro table and two chairs; the first floor bedroom houses two twin beds, looks out across the main deck and into the back yard, and features its own access to the first floor bathroom; and the reading room, located on the lower level, has a day bed with a trundle underneath, a configuration that can be used as two twin beds or converted into a king bed using a 'Kingmaker' stored in the closet, and includes a large sitting area and easy access to back yard through the slider in the adjoining family room. There is ample closet and dresser space in each room.
The spacious family room itself holds a large flat-screen TV and a broad selection of games. There is a wide variety of seating options for guests wishing to relax in this area, plus a small desk/work space and additional sleeping accommodations in the form of a futon couch which opens into another full-sized bed.
The main deck is located on the first floor and accessed through sliders from the living room. This deck spans the width of the house and looks out across the large back yard and into the adjoining marsh brush. Great bird watching opportunities from here! The deck holds a new Weber gas grill and comfortable seating for up to 10 guests, as well as a dining table with umbrella.

We're in an ideal location - .3 miles from Boat Meadow Beach on the bay side, one of the most beautiful beaches in Eastham; .7 miles from entry onto the Cape Cod Rail Trail (22 miles of paved off-street riding through the towns of Dennis, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham and Wellfleet with many opportunities to get off the trail to visit a beach or a town to browse or shop or find food, water and public restrooms); only 1.5 to 2 miles from Rock Harbor and the center of Orleans; and 4.7 miles from Nauset Beach on the ocean side in one direction and from the beautiful trails and fresh-water ponds of Nickerson State Park in another. Cape Cod is the second most visited golf destination in the United States and we're located only 6.5 miles from the Cape's premier public golf facility - The Captains Golf Course. Beyond the attractions of our immediate surroundings, our position at the southern-most edge of Eastham puts us only slightly past the midpoint of the Cape and about 25 miles from Provincetown, giving us reasonably easy access to just about any part of Cape Cod.

Boat Meadow Beach
There are many things to do on Cape Cod, among them swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and sailing in ocean, bay, and freshwater settings (equipment rental available from Goose Hummock in nearby Orleans, among other places); deep sea fishing and whale- or seal-watching excursions are plentifully available; and the National Seashore Visitors' Center offers films, nature talks and walks, a gift shop, beaches, and bike trails. Specialized child-oriented activities such as mini golf, museums, playhouses, go-karts, batting cages, trampolines, and arcades are plentiful throughout the Cape and many can be reached with a short 5 to 15 minute drive. There are a bounty of opportunities for enjoying the visual and performing arts at myriad small art galleries and theaters scattered all across the Cape, including such places as the Cape Playhouse in Dennis, the oldest summer theater in the United States, and the Melody Tent in Hyannis with many wonderful shows presented nightly by well known celebrities, as well as at several larger art centers offering ongoing art exhibits, theater and music productions, such as the Cotuit Cultural Center for the Arts in Cotuit and the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in South Yarmouth. Antiquing on Cape Cod is also great fun with unusual shops to be found in just about every town. Supplement your stay with visits to Provincetown with its unique boutiques, scenic trips and fabulous 8 mile bike trail by the beach and through the woods; Eastham with its working windmill and grist mill; Sandwich with the Heritage Plantation, Sandwich Glass Museum, scenic harbor, Hoxie House (oldest house on Cape Cod), working grist mill, boardwalk to the beaches, and Christopher Wren church; Falmouth with its wonderful bike trail along the beach and Falmouth Summer Theater; the Cape Cod Canal Bikeway riding between the Bourne and Sagamore Bridges; and Boston is only 1.5 hours away with its Historic Trail which makes history live! And don't miss the beautiful historic drive following Cape Cod Bay along the north shore through Barnstable, Brewster, and Sandwich. Hyannis has lovely stores and the JFK Museum in the center of town and the fireworks over the harbor on the 4th of the July are magnificent and trips to Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard leave both from Hyannis and Wood's Hole.
The Unique Benefits at this House: This home is bright and cheerful even on the greyest day! Every room is generously proportioned and the cathedral ceiling in the main living area gives a great feeling of openness and room to breath. I feel like I straighten up and stand taller whenever I'm in that space. I also love looking down on the living room from the second floor 'loft' or walkway. The marsh and sky views from the back deck, and the sense of quiet, broken only by the birds, can take my breath away. And then, of course, in case all that isn't enough, there's the quiet beauty of Boat Meadow Beach just a short walk down the road. Amazing sunsets over the bay every evening!
