Location: Minocqua, Northeast, Wisconsin, USA (7 Miles from Minocqua on 3 wooded acres, 5 miles to Pow Wows)
Accommodations: Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath (Sleeps 2-4)
Keywords: Cottage
Our cottage is surrounded by virgin white pines on a semi-private paved road with a view of Fence Lake. Fence Lake is one of the most sought after lakes in the north woods of Wisconsin. The level sandy beach and private dock allow for easy access to 10,000 acres of water fun on a ten lake chain. You can travel the chain of lakes to nearby restaurants and casino. Swimming is great.
The water is crystal clear and only three feet deep 50 feet from shore. There is a brand new 48 foot "L" shaped aluminum dock with a bench to sit and view the lake. The land from the cottage to the water has a very gentle slope. The lake is excellent for fishing, containing all varieties of fish, including Trout, Smelt, and record size Muskies and Walleyes. A 14 foot aluminum boat is furnished. All you need is a motor and gear. There is also a 4 person paddle boat provided.
The cottage was completely remodeled in 2003 including a new well and septic. This property was once part of the Mars estate, used as a summer retreat for Frank Mars, founder of Mars Candy Company.

The week we spend at the cabin was everything we were looking. After reading the previous review about the cleanliness of the place I admit I had reservations but when we arrived I found the place to be quite clean and we had no problems with spiders or insects. The cabin is obviously well maintained and cared for. Perfect for getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The lake was beautiful and peaceful. Each night we enjoyed sitting out on the dock watching the sunset and listening to loons and by day it was a great place to play on the water. This trip will be one we will remember for years to come. We will definitely consider staying here on Fence Lake again in the future.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, pet owners.

We stayed here late last summer. Warm days, and cool nights. The cottage was as advertised. Neat and clean, with beautiful Fence Lake waiting for us to swim or fish. A nice area to take a relaxing walk, read, or look at the stars. We saw deer, rabbits, and many birds. The nearby area was very pretty, With Minocqua just minutes away. We came here to relax, and get away from our normal hectic lifestyle. Just what the Doctor ordered. I would recommend anyone looking for the "north woods experience" to consider staying here. I know that we will be back!
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, pet owners, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

My family and I stayed at the Yach's cottage the week of July 17-24. We were very disappointed in the accommodations that were present. The cottage was infested with spiders, as my two children had bites all over their bodies. The cottage was not cleaned as well as we expected so therefor my wife spent her time scrubbing the place. My one son had to sleep on the dog hair covered futon bed, luckily we brought our own sheets. The description in the ad states a water view, this is a false statement as it is over 200 yds to the edge of the water. We did rent a pontoon boat, as that was the highlight of staying there. We tried to spent as much time as we could away from the cottage as possible. I would not recommend this cottage until it gets a good cleaning. We will be coming back to Fence Lake, but it will not be at this cottage. For the price I paid, I expected more!
Owner response:This was a real surprise. Payment did not come in as agreed. I have no idea what the spider issue is all about. If the children were bitten by something, they probably brought it along. We have never had a report of this or saw spiders anywhere. The cottage floor is all ceramic tile and is swept, vacuumed, and moped after each guest and all walls and appliances are cleaned. If they cleaned, it would surprise me. They left the cottage dirtier then anyone has in 6 years. If they brought their own sheets for the futton, why did they use ours? It is true that it is several hundred feet to the water, but we always tell people that. "The description in the ad states a water view" I am still trying to find this in our ad. We show a photo from the front door of the cottage. Pictures don't lie. If little time was spent at the cottage, it was amazing that they could set a record for garbage. They left 16 large garbage bags of trash behind. I had to use a trailer to haul it all away because it wouldn't all fit in my pickup truck (8' bed). I guess we feel the same way and would not welcome them back.

Steve & Mickey, Thanks for the tranquility. The bald eagle was beautiful to watch in the bay. The dogs had a great time playing with the ducks. The chain of lakes was fun to explore, especially the huge sand area on Crawling Stone. We had a fantastic time. We'll be back next year(if we haven't bought a place like this of our own).

Bald eagles...Loons.. and a very busy beaver- all from the dock! Plus we caught our limit in largemouth and smallmouth bass! We love the privacy and Thank you so much for welcoming our dog, Ulma. The water was so wonderful and Boskai's was able to deliver a fishing pontoon to the lake that we docked here for a few days! Many great memories were created here!

My family and I stayed at the Yach's cabin and had a wonderful time. The cabin served us well as we spent most of our days out and about. We had a great time sight seeing in the Minocqua area. Our evenings were spent grilling out our meals and enjoying campfires. The kids had so much fun exploring around and it was really nice how private the setting is. A couple days were warm enough for the kids to swim. There is a nice area down by the water to sit and relax while the kids played. Over all we had a very nice time and can't wait to come back next year! This is a definitly a great place to stay!
