Sugar Pine Chalet is a charming and functional Tahoe home nestled beneath towering Pine and Aspen trees on the West Shore of Lake Tahoe. This home underwent a major remodel that includes new floors and wall coverings, new bathrooms, a new kitchen, and new decks. The home was designed to retain the charm of a Tahoe home while providing the comfort of luxury features such as granite slab counter tops and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, tile in the bathrooms, and hardwood floors. The home has two heat sources including a central heat system and a gas stove heater in the living area to keep you warm on those crisp Tahoe evenings.

Enter the main floor of the house from the front deck and be welcomed into the combo kitchen/living area. Head down the hallway to enter the first bathroom, the rec room, and back bedroom with 2 full sized beds. The upstairs level includes the a bedroom with a queen bed and private access to a second level deck. Also upstairs is another bedroom with a queen sized bed and full bathroom, with travertine tile and a shower/tub combo.

Outside the home, you'll find a flat lot that adjoins to a conservancy lot, proving plenty of space to enjoy the outdoors. There is plenty of parking for your cars, boats, or RVs. The new front decks, from the upstairs bedroom, and below on the main level provide a comforting atmosphere to relax day or night. There is a new BBQ (2011) for your grilling pleasure, and a fire pit in the back to relax and be cozy outdoors at night

The location of this home is exceptional from an activities and amenities perspective. Sugar Pine State Park, with hiking, biking, and cross country ski trails, is a 2 block walk from the house. Lake Tahoe is a 10 minute walk and our home has a private HOA beach, pier, and buoys (must be reserved in advance), for your close enjoyment. Homewood Mountain Ski Resort is a 7 minute drive, door to door, from the house, or call the Homewood Shuttle and they will come pick you up.

There are a handful of good restaurants and bars to walk to, including Where We Met (espresso & gelato) & West Side Pizza in downtown Tahoma (7 minute walk) and the PDQ market for food, groceries, and deli (10 minute walk). A short drive or short bike ride will take you to Obexer's General Store, The West Shore Cafe, and Chamber's Landing bar/beach for dining/drinks on the Lake during the summer, and a host of other charming options to keep you occupied and well fed during your stay. The house is a 10 minute drive from Sunnyside restaurant/resort, Firesign Cafe, The Tahoe House Cafe, and all of the restaurants and amenities that Tahoe City has to offer. You can also drive South on Highway 89 to Meeks Bay Resort (3 miles away) and Camp Richardson (be sure to stop at the ice cream shop) and South Lake Tahoe which is about a 25 minute drive. Or you can hop on the trolley that takes you down to South Lake.

Additionally, Squaw Valley USA and Alpine Meadows are a 25 minute drive, and NorthStar Ski Resort is about a 35 minute drive.

Sugar Pine Chalet is the perfect balance of a place to 'get away', while still having amenities to which you can walk, bike, or drive, to satisfy all of your vacation desires.
Come and enjoy your stay at Sugar Pine Chalet!

What a lovely house. We had such a great stay in the Sugar Pine Chalet. Right from the start, Kelly was excellent to work with - professional and kind over the phone and email. And as soon as we walked in the door, we said, "this place is so great!". Super clean, all remodeled, stocked kitchen with every cooking utensil and equipment, cozy bedrooms and lots of sunlight. We spent Christmas here in the house and it was ideal for my family. Also, it's very close to trails for walking, hiking - and close to 89 where we easily had access to Squaw, Alpine and of course Bridgetender, Sunnyside, etc. I definitely hope to stay in this house again - great for summer or winter!

When you stay in this house, you can feel like you are at home. A lot of space for everyone: 3 bedrooms and one den give you as much privacy as possible. Kitchen equipment is great, you have everything you needed. For sure, we would like to rent this house again and hope for more then 3 nights.

This house is gorgeous, really clean, and really homey. I have stayed here several times both with friends and family. Every time we arrived, the place was welcoming and spotless. And everytime we left, we swore we would be back. The westshore of Tahoe is really the place to be and Tahoma has a nice relaxed, community feel to it. It is outside of the hustle and bustle that is Tahoe City. From this house, you can easily walk down to the lake or hike around Sugar Pine Point State Park. It's an easy stroll down to the PDQ Market which has virtually everything you would need. Emerald Bay and Tahoe City are also within a short drive, as well as Homewood Ski Resort in the winter. The house itself is just warm and welcoming. The rooms are all comfortable and quiet. The kids love the "Bear Room" downstairs. The kitchen is decked out with anything you would need and because of the open floor plan, you could converse with people in the living room or watch the kids while you are busy in the kitchen. Kelly and Aaron are really kind folks who have always been very thoughtful and responsive to our questions and requests. I wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone wanting a taste of the "real Tahoe" away from the casinos and tourist traps of South Lake.

Sugar Pine Chalet is awesome! I've stayed here with friends several times, in different seasons, and every trip has been magical. The location is fantastic--we walk to Sugar Pine State Park for snow-shoeing and cross-country skiing in winter, hiking and biking in summer. The 'downhill' options seem limitless: Squaw, Alpine, and NorthStar are all close, but really there's no reason to go anywhere other than cozy Homewood, just minutes up the road. You can't beat the views from Homewood. It feels like you might actually ski right into the Lake if you don't stop in time... The house is also just a short walk to the shores of Lake Tahoe. Be sure to grab a sandwich from the PDQ Market to eat on the beach. Of course, with Chambers Landing and Sunnyside nearby, and Tahoe City just a short drive away, there are plenty of non-picnic food options, too! And the house itself is perfect for a group of friends or a family. Three large bedrooms means everyone has plenty of space. A bathroom on each level means no middle of the night stumbles up or down an unfamiliar stairway. And the spacious Kitchen/Living/Dining area is comfy and relaxing, with room for the clean-up crew to 'hang out' while the chefs utilize the deluxe kitchen--which is a pleasure! Plenty of counter space, new appliances, a dishwasher, and everything you need for cooking just about anything. We even had a Super Bowl Party here, and it was spacious for 12 of us. (And it's so nice to have the kitchen right there, so you don't miss a single play--or commercial--when you need another nacho.) And to top it all off, Kelley and Aaron have both been professionals in the real estate biz, so they "get it": checking in is easy, all your questions get answered, and any problem you might have is quickly resolved. This is a great house in a great location with professional hosts, so if you're looking for that special "Home away from Home" with easy access to al that Lake Tahoe has to offer, you can't go wrong with the Sugar Pine Chalet!

                  Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2005

About the owner: We are a family of four, Mom & Dad, and two wonderful boys. We love Tahoe and purchased this house to live in. We lived here for 5+ years and recently relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. We still use this house frequently as we LOVE Lake Tahoe, Tahoma, and all that the area has to offer. We hope that people will come experience the natural beauty and wonder of this home and this area, that we have grown to love so much ourselves.

                  Why the Owner Chose Tahoma:
I was a weekend warrior coming up to ski, and decided to make Tahoe my home. I've always loved the West Shore, the bike path all the way down to Sugar Pine Park, the level access to the neighborhood, and proximity to the lake and sandy beaches. My husband and I got married here, now have 2 children and plan to continue enjoying our Tahoma home and LakeTahoe with our family.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Tahoma is a diverse neighborhood of new, custom homes, and vintage Tahoe family cabins. One of our favorite family activities is taking walks around the neighborhood, to the Lake and beach, or for a stroll through Sugar Pine State Park. This entire area is filled with huge trees and amazing vistas of the Lake and mountain tops. You can come to Tahoma and really feel like you have 'gotten away'. At the same time, all the amenities one could want, whether it be a drink by the lake, a nice dinner, or shopping are all in very close proximity. Here, you have the best of all worlds!
