This property could not have been better, especially if you want to experience the best of being on the lake - quiet, quaint, cozy, charming, nestled in the woods, private, and clean! Having grown up on the lake during summers as a child, and with that family property sold years ago, it's hard to believe any place could feel at home and 'happy' as this cottage did/does. We all teared up as we arrived - the little bridge we crossed to reach the property, the path to the lake, the huge sleeping porch...everything we hoped for, during our family stay (family memorial service in syracuse). The owner was a delight to work with, made our trip and planning so easy, even though we were making up plans as we went - the rooms were cozy, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed, and although small, was more than adequete for us - 4 adults and 4 children!! We loved the kayak, the boat house, the fire pit, the dock, fishing, and especially the huge porch :) This property is immaculate, and wonderful - had everything we needed and I cannot wait to return - we were so sad to leave, but hopeful we can go back - I hesitate to write all this for fear we won't be able to book a reservation!!! But of course the world would be better place if more people could rest and relax on Skaneateles :) Thank you for everything - we have lifetime memories from our short stay in June :)Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our family of five loved our stay at this cottage nestled between two ravines on a wooded lot. The house is immaculately clean, nicely maintained and just so charming, reflecting the historic character of a century-plus-old cottage that has provided generations of people with Skaneateles Lake fun and peaceful relaxation. The fresh flowers were a special welcoming touch. Our three children (ranging in ages from 6 to 14) found plenty to do, with a shallow and ample shoreline, excellent fishing, swimming and plenty of boats for our use. We brought a large air mattress with us and tied it to the boat bouy and the kids spent hours out there. The wooded hillside views from the dock are stunning. Evenings were spent reading or in Monopoly and card games on the front porch. No air conditioning was not a problem: while temps were in the 90's a few miles away, we felt comfortable during the day with the lake breezes, and at night the kids asked for extra blankets. A warning to late arrivals: we failed to notice before nightfall that the giant tree near the house was an oak, and the occasional acorns dropping on the metal roof were a noisy mystery to us until the next morning. Also, parents of young children should be aware there is no bathtub. All in all, a perfect summer week at Skaneateles Lake, which left our children teary at the prospect of departure and all of us anxious to return soon. We thank this family for sharing their lovely cottage.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had an "impromptu" visit to Skaneateles Lake for a Memorial Service in Syracuse! Found this cottage on line and the renters were "SUPERB" and very accomodating with our "spur of the moment" visit! The cottage is outstanding - wonderful bedrooms and comfortable beds, clean and well maintained kitchen with everything you could possibly need, and a peaceful screened in porch facing the most beautiful lake in the entire world!!! We enjoyed sitting on the dock, soaking in the sun, and looking at the beauty surrounding us! The kids had a BLAST in the kayak and row boat! In our future trips to Skaneateles Lake, we will certainly stay here again!!! Thank you so much! LOVED IT!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Hi Colleen Thanks so much for your kind words. We really enjoyed having you and your family at our cottage and sincerely appreciate that you cared for it as we would! You are welcome back any time! Best, Deb

We had a wonderful week at your very special lake house. We enjoyed bonfires in the firepit by the lake, our sons loved sailing, swimming, and kayaking, my mom loved the screen porch, and my husband and I loved it all! The cottage was perfect for our family group of 6. When we arrived, everything was so clean and nicely arranged, including fresh flowers, mints, and all plenty of kitchen and bath supplies to get us started. We will definitely be back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: Dear Chris: We cannot thank you and your family enough for taking such wonderful care of our cottage. You treated and cared for it as we would ourselves. In particular, thank you for leaving the cottage in such immaculate condition when you left, including the boathouse and returning everything to the boathouse. You are welcome back anytime!

We wanted you to know how much we enjoyed staying at your cottage for several weeks the past two summers. If we were to rent again, there is no doubt we would return for another year. The accommodations are so clean and comfortable. It was certainly spacious enough for our family and all of my son's friends who join us for our time at the cottage. The boys have so much fun on and in the beautiful lake. There is never a dull moment with the all the water sports available. They spent many evenings by the fire pit chatting it up. Al and I spent our evenings reading and relaxing on the screened in porch. Our expectations for a wonderful vacation were exceeded each time we returned.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Dear Joanne and Alan Thanks so much for your kind words. We really enjoyed having you as renters as you always treated our cottage with the gentle care that we ourselves would. Best Deb and Geoff

Staying at the Lindemer Cottage is a vacation to remember. From the moment we stepped out of the car and walked down the narrow path and across the bridge over the babbling brook we knew we were in for a special week The charm and comfort of the cottage brings you back to a time of simple pleasures. The sounds from the waves washing ashore and the refreshing breeze across Skaneateles Lake will make you forget the hustle and bustle of the daily life you left behind. The proximity of local stores and the restaurants in nearby Skaneateles, all work together to balance your escape on the lake to the comforts and conveniences that you are accustomed to. We loved lying on the dock, swimming in the cold clear water of Skaneateles Lake, and reading for hours on the comfortable porch furniture overlooking the crystal clear waters of the lake just a few steps away. This was a relaxing and comfortable vacation to remember and the Lindemer cottage is a home away from home that we’ll want to return to again and again. We had a great time and look forward to a return trip. Authored by Becky and DavidDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Dear Lindemers, Just want to say our family of five had a great time at your place on the lake front. We appreciated how equipped the house was both inside and for water sports. Your specious place was clean with the big porch facing the cleanest lake we've ever seen. The town too was a delight, the America I recall from decades ago. All the best. Owner info
Year Purchased: 1900
About the owner: I handle the rental of the property for our family. The Cottage was built by my husband's great grandfather in 1900. We spend time there every summer and our boys learned to water ski and swim on the Lake. This property has brought years and years of enjoyment to our family and others who have used it.
Why the Owner Chose Skaneateles:
This is a family-built summer vacation property.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
There is no better place to live than on the Lake in the summer. We cook all of our meals outside, relax on our porch, enjoy tea on the dock on the morning and spectacular sunsets at night. We actually read because we have time to sit with a good book right on or by the water. Our boys have spent years playing golf at the golf course in our back yeard, which is, unfortunately, in the remodel stage right now and not available for use. There is another golf course ten minutes down the road. As youngsters, our boys opened a golf ball and lemonade stand on the golf course. They have received boating licenses and have enjoyed every aspect of living on the water. It is wonderful to sit by the water and hear nothing but the water lapping on shore. It is an amazing place to renew one's energy and peace of mind.
