This was exactly the place for a weekend get away. There is no detail missing from this charming cottage. My sons and I fished, canoed and laid in the hammock. My dogs loved the property but found a gap in the fence and got away so be careful if you bring your pets. The rainbow river tubing was a great experience. Loved it!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This place reminded me of my grandparent's cabin when I was a kid. LOVED IT!!!! Everything you could need and more. Clean, comfy beds, view that was amazing!!! This is located close to Crystal River in a town called Dunnellon. The people we met at the local bar and grill on the Rainbow River, were so nice and welcoming!!! Great little town. I honestly can not say enough good things about this place. We are planning our next trip soon! I will make sure we have a boat. If we would have had our own boat our vacation would have been over the top!!! Still had plenty to do, and my son was able to fish right off the dock, well I watch from the hammock on the lawn with great shade trees. Just a great little place to see the true Florida!!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I were looking for a getaway close to Tampa. We found the perfect peaceful place and you would think you are much farther away than 90minutes from home. The tranquility was just what we needed. We fished, grilled out and spent alot of time outdoors and in the screen house. This wass everything we expected and more.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The cottage comes exactly as advertised, the pictures are absolutely accurate. My wife and I spent January 2012 at the cottage and we woke up with a smile every day. We walked almost every day, we saw wonderful sunsets and we spent many happy hours on the dock watching the alligators. The canoe is a little small and not designed for the uninitiated but I enjoyed it. The cottage is very comfortable and has everything you will need. Crystal river is worth visiting and we liked Vintage on 5th and the Blue Alligator in Dunnellon is a hoot. You have to try the devilsfood donuts at the Dunnellon donut shop on Pennsylvania st. This is not your typical Florida vacation so be advised. We are from Wisconsin and it is truly a "northwoods fishing cottage" with designer touches. The decks make the place work.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I stayed at the cottage for a week in August and absolutely loved our time there. The moment we pulled in the driveway we knew it was exactly what we hoped for. The beautiful back yard is fenced on both sides providing privacy and a safe place for our kids to run around and play tag. The cottage is picture perfect and well cared for. The dock is large enough to tie up your boat and still have room to fish off it. The fire pits (there are two) are great spots to spend your evenings, smores are always a big hit with the kids. We spent the week exploring the rainbow river, we took our boat out on the lake every morning and evening for some fishing, took the canoe for a spin around the lake, drove up to Homosassa and went scalloping. It was a wonderful, relaxing weekend. If you are looking for a place to rent in the area, I would highly recommend the Hidden Cottage.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and 4 small boys had an awesome time. Everything that we needed was there for us at our disposal. Fishing is great (caught a 6lb largemouth)! The area springs and thrift shops were our favorite places to go to outside of the home. We honestly felt relaxed after being here for a week...no vacation from a vacation needed after coming here!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing.

This place is a nature lover's paradise! It offers a beautiful view where you can relax, unwind and watch nature unfold on the beautiful Lake Rousseau. We needed to recharge our batteries and this was the place to make it happen! The cottage was clean and nicely decorated, kitchen had everything you need-just bring your food! The gas grill was great to have. We spent lots of time in the hammock, swaying in the breeze. We look forward to coming back in July! Thanks for sharing your waterfront paradise!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway.

Beautiful deck area with a screen room and a great view of the evening sunsets over Lake Rousseau. Post Card Perfect My Daughter and I came over from Orlando FL for a long weekend, stayed from 5/19 -5/22 Starting with the Cottage it should be in Better Homes and Gardens or Southern Living Magazine. The Owners have obviously put a lot of thought in to this Cottage. Every room was well thought out with nautical touches, and quaint cozy furnishings. The views were great from the cottage and especially the outside decks. My Daughter and I spent most of our time their enjoying the wildlife and exploring the Lake and River by canoe. Relaxed at night playing cards and board games while listening to Owls hoot back and forth. The free standing screened porch was perfect for this. I would give this property a perfect 10 . Would love to come back with my husband. I have stayed several times at this hidden jewel. The entire property is amazing. I bring my dogs who love the fenced in backyard and a ride on the water to watch the birds. Downtown Dunnellon has some wonderful small town restaurants with great food. As soon as you pull in, it's like all of your worries melt away. It is the best escape I have found since moving to Florida 10 years ago. Every night we build a fire and enjoy the sunset on the water. Sometimes there are bugs but nothing bug spray or the amazing screened porch won't take care of. The sound at night is spectacular. Nature! That is all you hear. It's a wonderful place to escape the bustle of the real world and unwind. I have visited alone (with my dogs), with a significant other, and with my parents. Always the visit is spectacular and memorial. My only hope is that one day I can own my own sliver of paradise like this one! If you go, you won't be disappointed! One last tip - try the Italian place in the strip mall of Dunnellon. Shockingly good!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Stayed here for Feb/March 2011 and were absolutely entranced by the trees, water, wildlife and outdoor activities, while still having the "cottage", with all it's modern amenities. Beautiful sunsets, outdoor fires, boating & fishing on the river/lake and golf at several very reasonable courses.Convenient to shopping, dining and entertainment in Dunnellon, just 10 minutes away by car or 25 minutes by boat. We'll definitely be back next year!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I took a mini vacation to this property and loved every minute. It was so peaceful. It felt like we were completely away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and yet restaurants and shopping was close by. It was a wonderful place for some R and R. Hope to do it again and stay a bit longer. Top notch place - don't change a thing!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Stayed at this lovely cottage when it was listed on another site. The cottage and wooded lot on the water was the perfect getaway for my wife and I. Stayed a full week and hated to leave. Enjoyed watching a family of foxes which appeared to live in the woods adjacent play in the yard a dusk daily. The sunsets were amazing! Definitely will come back again. Owner response: Nature lovers and great guest. Stayed at Hidden Cottage in March... a beautiful time of year in Dunnellon. Looking forward to having Jack and Peggy again this year.

What a wonderful 2 weeks was had by all, came down from Clifford Ma during the winter. Enjoyed the warm sunny days with all the outdoor activities around the river area and the coast, boating, swimming, and my favorite golf, played 3 times a week! The cottage was inviting, super clean, and comfortable. The pictures and description describe the cottage accurately. Hope to come back soon.
