These bungalows encompass what it is to truly have a Costa Rican vacation. They are in a secluded area literally on the beach. On a typical day you can go to the pool usually sprinkled with very interesting and extremely friendly people. I particularly enjoy lounging in the hammock, poolside or on the balcony of the bungalow. One of the good/not so good things about the bungalows is their seclusion. If you like the hustle and bustle of a city the bungalows is not for you, but it is only a 10 minute/$10 dollar taxi ride outside of Jaco, where all the nightlife and "cityesque" activities reside. Although, with the seclusion means you pretty much have your own private beach and are able to hear the most sound stimuli from nature( birds, bugs, reptiles, the wind through the trees, rain drops, ocean waves crashing, and other mammals i cant quiet put my finger on). The accommodations are top notch, meaning everything is very nice and efficient. there is a fisherman and baker that usually show up once a week, but sometimes they are not consistent. Bottom line the whole experience brings two words to mind which may sound contradictory but you'll just have to experience something like this yourself to understand what i mean, overwhelming and minimalistic, which in the end combines to achieve a fulfilling equilibrium what the locals call "pura vida". There are a myriad of other positives that contribute to the experience but i have covered what i have been impacted by most.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I spent a weekend at the Bungalows and had such a great time. I have been there many times before, but this time was extra special since I had been in the East Coast us for a snowy winter before coming back to Playa Hermosa, my home away from home. The bungalows provide everything a surfer girl with good taste could want - tropical ambiance, relaxing poolside atmosphere with the fun rancho for people to gather, and amazing waves just steps from your door. Watching the sunset from the balcony, making fruity drinks at cocktail hour and mingling with new and old friends make the bungalows so special. I love the privacy away from it all, and walking the beach to the little restaurants in Hermosa is a great way to find breakfast, lunch and dinner in the sleepy surf town. You can walk for miles on the coast, and when you come home, it's like your own personal and very elegant slice of paradise. I can't wait to go back!Did you find this review helpful? Two of our best vacations have been at Hermosa bungalows! We fist discovered the bungalows last year - escaping the NY winter for 10 days in March. This year, we spent 3 weeks in January at the bungalows! It is so relaxing, everyone is so nice, and the location couldn't be better. The beach is literally less than a minute walk, and can be seen from most of the patios of the bungalows. And the pool always provides a refreshing place to cool down, or to swing in a hammock under the shade. There are many activities in the area as well - if you are looking to get out and explore. And the restaurants! Right in Hermosa there are great places to eat, and nearby Jaco also offers great sushi, pizza and more. I highly recommend Hermosa bungalows to anyone looking for a great vacation. It's easy to get to with the new road from San Jose, and will give you exactly what you need in a vacation. We will be back next year - hope to see you there!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My friend and I had an amazing time at the Hermosa Beach Bungalows! We hadn't really planned on doing much, just relaxing by the pool and soaking up the sun, but everybody who lived there was so enthusiastic about sharing all the cool things their town had to offer. We went on a horseback tour, took surfing lessons, had excellent fish tacos at Bubba's in Jaco, and lots of other stuff. However, my personal favorite two things to do were reading/napping in the hammocks under the cabana by the pool (honestly, more napping than reading) and slipping out at night just before bed to float on my back in the pool and stare up at the stars for a while. The grounds are gorgeous and everybody truly cares about guests having an excellent experience. I will definitely be going back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This place was absolutely perfect! I wanted to get away from the big city (Los angeles) and relax by a beach somewhere tropical. When we arrived, all we had to do was walk 30 seconds and then we had the entire beach to ourselves for a mile in each direction. No crowds. Just the ocean breeze and sun (not too much though - just right). We also had the choice of hanging in the pool if we didn't want to get sandy, which was right outside our bungalow. The town was just a 5 minute drive down the road with plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, or shopping, etc. The first trip was three years ago and now we come back to the bungalows every year in December.Did you find this review helpful? We go to Hermosa every year and have rented this one twice. It is the best bungalow of the whole community. It is so clean and well taken care of. It's also the most spacious. It feels like home, for sure! Cannot wait to go back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

I've stayed at these Bungalows on a handful of occasions, and have always had an amazing time with family and friends. The bungalows are in excellent condition. The service is fantastic, and the scenery and atmosphere was exactly what I needed! It's cozy & quiet when you're looking to read a good book by the pool, and festive enough when you're looking to share a few cocktails w/neighbors at sunset (one of the best locations for sunsets on this part of the coast). Highly recommended!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

I've stayed at the bungalows twice now. Bungalow 20 and 7, and both were great. Bought groceries at the local market, and fresh produce at the farmers mkt, and basically cooked all our food- we went out a few times to see the town, but that saved a lot of money. The bungalows had internet, and Voip phones to call back to the us. Some of the other bungalows have full time residents, and everyone was friendly. There is security at night, so that was never an issue. Playa Hermosa is a great surf spot- both times I've been there, we had waves almost every day. We lucked out the last time in Oct, which is the rainy season, and we had great weather and great waves. There was not an issue with crowds, the bungalows are just far enough away from Jaco that it's never an issue, so most of the time, the lineup was empty or very manageable. Highly recommended. Plan on coming back for sure.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

The Hermosa Beach Bungalows is such a beautiful resort. A comfortable, relaxed and exotic atmosphere with good waves just across the street, good people, and the views from the bungalows are stunning. The colourful birds flying by, the hammocks by the pool, and the "pura vida" lifestyle is such a wonderful experience. Even the lunch service was fantastic. I look forward to going back there real soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This was our family's first trip to Costa Rica. My wife and two children all went together to visit family. We rented one of the bungalow's on the front row so we were ecstatic with our view of the ocean. The village is so unique and peaceful. I call it our new little surf village home away from home. The people were so friendly there in the village. They had family cookouts just about every night we were there and I got to ride my first wave. We went zip lining, the kids went horse back riding, took surf lessons, went to the volcanoes, went to the hot springs and more. Plenty to do for everyone and then some. The bungalows were first class with wood floors, very clean, and had air conditioning (yee haw). The bungalow's are only a few minutes from the city of Jaco which we went to visit a couple times for dinner and to get groceries for our cook outs. You will be hard pressed to find a more relaxing beautiful place to stay. If you love surfing then you will be in heaven as 100 feet from your bungalow is literally some of the world's most consistent waves in the world. I'm just learning to surf but and pumped to go back. My wife was a bit nervous with all the iguanas at first that are out in the morning running around but if they see you they run and hide most of the time and are harmless. Simple beautiful and I recommend this jewel of a location for families who want to decompress and for surfers who want to ride some of the best waves in the world. The only negative I had about the entire experience is the dang sand was so hot and burnt my feet. It didn't seem to bother the locals but I finally wised up and bought some flip flops and all was groovy.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2
