Private Homes, Unspecified cabin description

This is a life-long dream of mine to build a cabin in one of the prettiest places in Colorado!
Marble is a very historic town located 60 miles from Aspen in the Crystal River Valley. It is a beautiful 1 hour and 15 minute drive from Aspen to the cabin.
It is a place that offers skiing, fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking, canoeing, etc. and the best panoramic mountain views Colorado has to offer!
I own a fly fishing guide service in Aspen and have brought hundreds of my clients to my cabin over the years.
Most people really enjoy the quiet nature of of the valley and how relaxing it is to spend time in the mountains. This spring I had Mark Sevilla of Sevilla Brothers Hardwood Flooring (651)-436-2450 come out from his home office of St. Paul and install a American Walnut hardwood floor that is 'off the charts' gorgeous!
There is not a bad season to visit although the winter adds another step in the process with the wood stove and adding wood to it.
My wife owns Bonnie's Restaurant and is a private chef.

We often take our fishing/ horse back riding guests to the cabin and she will prepare meals for the outing.
My permit in the White River National Forest allows me to take clients to some high lakes where we do overnight camping trips.
My favorite is Geneva Lake which is a one hour four-wheel drive ride from the cabin along with a hour hike to the lake.
It is fabulous in the summer for people who enjoy hiking for the scenery and looking for wildlife and the flowers are incredible!

From the first inquiry, our host went out of his way to make sure everything about our much-needed, vacation was perfect Upon arrival, after a 15 hour drive, it was nice to have the house open and ready for move in. Our adventure started with a short hike up the Carbonate Creek trail directly from the cabin driveway. The creek was flowing strong which made for some great photos and a nice picnic. Later in the day we took the drive into Aspen for the “rainy” Jazz Festival. Though, we elected not to sit in the concert in the rain, we still enjoyed a great burger and some shopping in town. On Saturday, we took the Jeep out on the 4-wheel drive road, Lead King Basin. And, yes, they do mean it when they say 4-wheel drive only. The six mile drive to the Geneva Lake parking area took over an hour. And, despite some harrowing bumps that forced this writer to get out and walk, the road was exciting and the views breathtaking in every direction. The hike up to Geneva Lake is not to be missed. After a nice lunch, a short hike back to the car (while watching the rain clouds gather) and another harrowing trip back up the Jeep road, we meandered into town for beer and BBQ at the Slow Groovin’. The owners were delightful and seemed to have the only ESPN connection in town. Other adventures while we were there included a 10 mile hike, up the jeep road to the Crystal Mill and the town of Crystal. The Crystal Mill was dilapidatingly beautiful and all together fascinating. A mountain bike ride in Carbondale (which also allowed us to check email and voicemail), lunch at the Redstone Inn (the best burger in the area) and a drive up Old Marble Mill Road rounded out the trip. The cabin itself has all the comforts of home. At the owner’s recommendation, we made a stop at the Whole Foods in El Jebel and had our provisions for the week. Bacon and eggs at sunrise started each day for us....we actually looked forward to the morning rooster crowing, something we city folk don’t hear too often. Grilling on the patio with a cold beer and a million stars was a highlight and a night of skillet lasagna (no cook noodles) also turned out great. When we weren’t playing ping pong, we enjoyed evenings by candlelight, giving a generator a bit of the break and enjoying the owner’s fabulous music collection. The cabin and the area made a home in my heart and I know we will be back there for another visit soon. Thanks for a perfect time!!!

I you are looking for complete privacy and beautiful views, this is the place! This cabin is "off the grid" and ideal for romantic couples or folks who want to escape it all (and we mean "all"...no internet, TV or cell service!). It's located at the top/end of the road, so ensures complete privacy. We enjoyed visiting the towns of Marble and Redstone (both have very interesting histories), hiking, BBQ-ing (GREAT BBQ), and eating outside on the large deck. Scott, the owner, was most helpful with the reservation process, and always available to answer any questions. He had everything turned on and ready to go on our arrival. We had a wonderful, relaxing week and look forward to our next visit! Thanks, Scott!

The views from the cabin were spectacular. We couldn't have chosen a better time to visit, the fall colors were amazing! The cabin itself was comfortable and a perfect size for our small family. Sitting on the deck in the adirondack chairs, gazing into clear night sky at the stars, and hearing only the sounds of nature was incredible. The wood burning stove, which is the only source of heat, kept us nice and toasty and provided wonderful ambience at night. We used candles at night, rather than relying on the battery/generator powered electricity. It gave that extra touch of relaxation...and I recommend others to pack extra candles when visiting. The cabin was maintained well and equipped with everything we needed. The kitchen was stocked adequately. Bed linens, towels, and additional supplies were provided, so there were minimal items we needed to bring/buy. The beds were very comfy and our daughter enjoyed sleeping on the sofa next to the wood stove. The cabin wasn't spotless when we arrived, however it wasn't that big of a deal. It is afterall, a cabin in the woods! We just clean what we felt needed it, and focused on enjoying our stay. We do plan on bringing along some board games with us next time. There is a nice selection of movies & music already provided for you, not to mention the wonderful game room downstairs! The owner gave us all the information that we needed, and we had no problems. Even with short notice, Scott was very thoughtful and ensured that there was split firewood sitting by the door waiting for us and that the electric and gas was turned on upon our arrival. There were a few hiking trails that we saw, one just beyond the end of the driveway. Beaver Lake at the bottom of the mountain is a beautiful place for taking photos or fishing. We saw many people with ATV's and horses, as there are other trails in the area. Marble is an interesting town with plenty of history to take in. We especially enjoyed visiting the town of Redstone. Stopping at the General Store for an ice cream cone to take to the park across the street along the Crystal River is an absolute must! We also visited the historic district of Carbondale. It's a nice place to park and walk. Peppino's Pizza has fantastic pizza and the staff is very friendly. In the end, we are anxiously awaiting our next visit to the cabin. It is the kind of retreat that our family has been searching for and plan to return time and time again! Thank you, Scott, for such a great escape

MY Husband and I went in March for a little get away. We were welcomed by the owner who showed us around and also allowed us to use his snow mobile. My husband and I being very busy professionals were a little sckeptical about the place but after our visit we promised ourselves we would be back. Being just the 2 of us, we had fun playing pool in the game room, BBQ, We skiied, snow mobiled and enjoyed the sunset many nights and spent lots of alone time. The cabin is amazing! Its clean, beaituful, well taken care of with breathtaking views, quiet and away from others(Very private). The super markert is not to far with many other things to do in the area as well which we enjoyed. My husband and I had taken many trips and this by far tops many of them. The owner is very friendly and helpful and this is definintely a trip we will take again! I have also recommended a few friends of ours.Thank you Scott for making "your" home "ours" for a week! You made this a memorable trip! See you soon!

                      Notes:

The cabin is fairly rural and remote and is off the grid meaning it runs on a solar and generator chargable battery bank. The water is from the well and is delicious. The generator, stove, oven, water heater and fridge and freezer all are fueled by propane. The heat is suppled by a wood stove upstairs and a wood pellet stove downstairs. Winter renters need to be able to start and maintain a fire.

I prefer a cashiers check for 50% prior to arrival and the other 50% upon arrival
