Therese and I got off to a bad start as when we checked into the apartment it was not what it was advertised . I went to put things away in the bathroom and the drawers were so dirty with hair, etc. we could not even use them. No toilet paper, soap, wash clothes, hand towels or vacuum were supplied. the bedspread had stains on it, the throw pillows on the couch were dirty ,the pull shade in the bedroom had huge stains. The shower curtain had mildew all over it. After I called and complained Therese argued with me but dropped off two hand towels and two wash cloths ,some toilet paper and one shower curtain. the shower curtain took a ladder to put up which we did not have and the shower was such an odd shower that it took three shower curtains. Therese deducted $200 from our month .Which I used to have a cleaning lady come in . After lecturing me that this was not a hotel. She clearly thought I was being demanding to want the above items. I assume the owner had not been in the apartment in a very long time that she did not know the shower took three curtains. Some of the drawers in the closet could not be used as they were busted. We had to go buy our own lightbulbs for the bedroom as they were burnt out in the lamp by the bed. A number for the Super was posted in the apartment if we needed him . We needed to know how to turn the heat on as it got cold. I called and the Super whose number she had posted was know longer the Super. The bathroom sink constantly dripped as it could not be shut off all the way.The toilet seat was so old that I was sure it was going to bust off and when you flushed the toilet most of the time it sounded like a jack hammer. The TV's did not get many channels as we are pretty sure that someone was suppose to get new cable boxes and you did not get them. The upstairs was advertised as a second bedroom. It had a day bed but was not a true bed. There is know way that apartment could sleep 6 people as advertised .We were really hoping to like this apartment as we are going to be renting for a month at least 3-4 times a year. We paid a lot of money to have to have to deal with these issues.

Owner response: As you can see most of our previous guests were quite satisfied. I apologized that the cleaning woman was not thorough, I was as disturbed as you were which is why I refunded you the $200. it is not listed as a NEW apartment, his is a busy unit and many families LOVE it. I guess it may be in need a few new items, but I was there to help in anyway I could sorry it wasn't enough. You didn't express that you were that unhappy & I don't remember any arguing, you told me the things you needed and I went out and bought them. We are sorry you were so dissatisfied I only wish you told me while you were still here. Your are correct in that I said that this is not a hotel it is a furnished rental, we leave only minimal paper items not enough for a month (T.P. paper towels etc) The upstairs bedroom hasn't a real bed? A trundle bed with two twin beds AS described in the description is not a real bed? The NEW leather sofa also opens to a queen sized temperpedic bed so the apartment most defiantly does sleep 6 and has MANY times. Most often it is a family with smaller children when they have 6. Once again our apologies, we have been lucky enough to have made many families vacations and holidays memorable sorry we missed the mark with you.
Perfect Place to See Manhattan with the Family! LOCATION!
Perfect Place to See Manhattan with the Family! LOCATION!
Visiting NY with a family of 5-(2 adults, 3 kids), this place was GREAT! Location, Location, LOCATION! Owner was quick to respond and we set up the rental quickly and painlessly. For us, it would be pretty impossible to find a better location--the apartment is located about 150 yards from Central Park West and 50 yards from Columbus Ave. Sooo easy to walk to the park, lots of playgrounds nearby--good for the younger kids. Pharmacy, Supermarket, lots of great places to eat, all within walking distance. Museum of Natural History just down the street. Guggenheim, just a nice stroll across the park. The apartment is on the 2nd floor of a nice building. Entry is ~5 steps up from sidewalk level. Two entry doors with 2 steps in between and one set of stairs to second floor. Just fine for 55+ or little kids long as you are ambulatory. Inside, the place looked exactly as the pictures and was neat as a pin. There is a fully functional kitchen with a good fridge/freezer. Well-stocked with what you need in terms of utensils, plates, cooking stuff, and also some basics like oil, coffee, salt, etc... The kitchen is NYC Manhattan-sized--good for one person. The place has window AC units in the two bedroom areas. Upstairs is a trundle bed--two singles. Downstairs is a master with a super comfortable king. TV sets with cable in both bedrooms and in living room. On hot days, you can easily keep the bedrooms cool. The front room has a queen sofa sleeper tempurpedic--very comfortable, but tougher to keep cool in there when it is hot outside. Beautiful windows in living room--perfect to sit, read, or hang out. Small dining table with chairs. Trash is downstairs in the closet--easy and clean. Wireless network was easy to connect to and fully functional. Numerous NYC travel guidebooks in apartment. Lots of closet and drawer space as well as lots of linens and towels. Bathroom is very nice Victorian design. Owner was super friendly, responsive, and flexible with our stay. If you are traveling to Manhattan NYC with a family, this place is gonna be tough to beat! Sooo much better than a hotel. Highly recommended!

My family and I traveled from Park City,Ut to New York for spring break this year. We stayed at one of Therese's apartments and could not have been happier. It was a wonderful experience for us, one we won't soon forget, to feel like a local -- so much better than staying in a hotel room. The apartment was clean, beautifully furnished and was equipped with all the essentials. We could have spent a month here!! We love how close to Central Park, the subway station, and great restaurants, if you have a smart phone use the app "YELP" to find anything you might need close by. We had an awesome time in New York, and can't wait to come back. We loved every single thing about it, and this apartment only made our experience in New York all the better. Thank you Therese for making our trip to the New York that much better. I would highly recommend this property all my friends and family. *If I could change anything ~ I would recover the cushions on the bay window seat they are all torn and ripped, I would either replace or make the kitchen table much sturdier feels like its going to collapse any minute. One of the kitchen chairs actually collapsed on my husband I thought he'd really hurt himself. It would be nice to have a trash can in the kitchen one small bathroom trash can for the whole apartment is difficult. It would be nice to have a broom and dust pan in the apartment for cleaning up. One more shower curtain for the bath tub would be nice, the two that are there really don't go all the way around the tub. Have you thought of putting a coffee table in the living room? A bread knife would be super, but not a necessity. Two of the three light bulbs in the bathroom where burnt out. Over all really nice thank you again.

Family of 5 - Travelling from Australia
My family and I travelled from Australia to New York in September of this year. We stayed at Therese's most beautiful and amazing apartment and could not have been happier. It was gorgeous, and such an awesome experience for all of us to feel like one of the locals -- so much better than staying in a hotel room. The apartment was clean, beautifully furnished and amazingly well equipped. We could have spent a month here!! It is also so close to Central Park, and the subway station, as well as nearby to great restaurants, and all the useful amenities. We had an awesome time in New York, the only downside was that six days just wasn't long enough for us!!! We loved every single thing about it, and this apartment only made our experience in New York all the better. Thank you Therese for our amazing stay. The family from Downunder.

5 of us visited NYC in the fall of 2011, and were lucky enough to find this wonderful brownstone. The location was absolutely perfect, literally steps from Central Park, and very convenient to multiple subways. The unit was absolutely huge, and all five of us (adults!) were completely comfortable. It was exceedingly clean, street noise was non-existent, the beds and furnishings were in great shape and very comfortable, the kitchen and bathroom were both well-furnished and spacious. This was my first experience in NYC with VRBO, and I can't brag enough. The owner was gracious, hospitable, and completely accommodating. She - and her fine property - made our trip to NYC absolutely unforgettable.
