Relax in our stunning original 1920's Spanish house within walking distance to the Pacific Ocean.
You'll feel you are back in old Hollywood with mission windows, lush landscaping and original beams. Because of its ample size, (4,100 square feet), this an ideal house for a single family or two families of 4. Talavera tiles, Mexican pavers and original mahogany stained oak cover the floors of this spacious home. The house has been expertly preserved and lovingly restored.
The ultra-gourmet kitchen features Jerusalem limestone surfaces, stainless appliances, cook's stove and wine refrigerator. Provencal pale yellow and green cement carocim tiles cover the walls, back splash and custom kitchen table, which seats 6-8 people. There is also counter seating for 3, where you can chat with the "cook of the house."
Our master suite is fit for a King with lush linens and draperies, enormous walnut and iron bed, seating areas, fainting couch, guest closet, T.V./VCR/DVD/CD player. The Master bath is enormous and is comprised of three separate rooms so the lady and gentleman of the house can dress and bathe at their leisure.
Two smaller but ample upstairs bedrooms contain trundle beds. One room contains an oak sleigh bed with trundle that can be separate or combined at bed height to form a king bed, an oversized slip-covererd chair and has a large mirrored closet. There is a twin futon in the closet for a 10th person. It also has an adjacent black and white original Malibu tiled bathroom/shower.
The mission style child's bedroom at the top of the staircase has an en suite bath with original Malibu tile detailing in lavender and black with a large walk-in closet.
A sizeable downstairs guest bedroom has a mahogany queen-sized sleigh bed, television and en suite black and white art deco styled bathroom/shower and roomy closet.
The small room off the study has a twin-size bed with Ralph Lauren linens and art deco armoire. The closet houses the washer and dryer.
The mission style living room has a red leather antique couch and tobacco colored club chairs, with central Indonesian coffee table and mahogany antique baby grand piano. It is a room bathed in soft light where at day's end, you can luxuriate with a glass of wine.
The large family room off the kitchen has a pass through and oversized yellow chenille sofas and chairs and is filled with toys, a large screen T.V., VCR and DVD and stereo system, and is ideal to curl up and relax after dinner.
The dining room has a built in mahogany breakfront and an inlaid Biedemeier table which has extensions and table pads if you have a formal dinner with your family and seats 10.
Local sights are numerous and include: one-block walk to Montana Avenue and exquisite shopping, restaurants and markets. A half-mile walk to the Third Street Promenade is delightful, where on weekends you can view jugglers, street musicians and pranksters, catch a film and eat in one of the multitude of great restaurants on the street, or buy gourmet and organic food at the farmers' market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings until noon. The Pacific Ocean is 8 blocks away and you can rent a bike, roller skates or simply enjoy the sand. You can walk all the way to the Venice Pier and the Santa Monica Pier is just one mile away.
The coastal road or Pacific Coast Highway is an inviting and beautiful ride and Malibu is 10 minutes away, with Zuma Beach 30 minutes by car. There is hiking in the Santa Monica Mountains in Temescal Canyon off of Sunset Blvd., as well as horseback riding. |
