Owner Description

"The Little House" was built in the late 1800's and was originally a carriage house for the larger cottage next door. My grandparents bought this property in the 1940's and remodeled it into a summer home. Every summer they would save two weeks out of the summer rental season for my parents, sisters and myself to have our vacation. I have so many incredible memories of playing on the beach, exploring the marsh, collecting periwinkels and mussels in a pail and swimming all day in the beautiful Long Island Sound until we were waterlogged. Then we would have a barbeque outside or go out to eat seafood, go for ice cream at Mapleshade and the next day start all over again.

    • Our family stayed in the Little Cottage in the summer of 2005, and we have renewed for 2006. The house retains much of the charm associated with older, traditional seaside cottages of the 1920's providing an authentic feel and adding to the unique experince. The shared outdoor space and immediate landscape encouraged social interaction with other families which added to the positive experince.

    • My parents from out of town were visiting last summer for a month. Seeing that I have a very small house, they rented the "Little House" for their stay. They had a wonderful time. They were especially impressed by the beautiful location of the cottage and the private sandy beach. They also enjoyed many days just sitting in the yard enjoying the ocean breezes. They would definitely return if they are able to stay for an extended visit in the future.
