Great memories made here!
Great memories made here!
We just finished a fun-filled week at Major's Landing on Lake Calabogie. We were a multi-generational family group of 8 adults & 2 children. The property exceeded the description in every way. It was even better than the photos. The finishings are top-of-the-line & there are highend appliances. It was exceptionally clean on check-in. The kitchen was adream to prep meals in & the BBQ was well used but for a break we found the Calabogie Pizzeria & Ice Cream Bar made delicious pizza. We found there was plenty of room for our family to be doing different activities without interfering with one another. The watercraft provided were a lot of fun for everyone. Our youngest members actually caught fish off the dock within a half hour of dropping a line which was a big thrill. The waterfront is quiet with minimal boat traffic so it was safe for swimmers going between the dock & the swim raft. We had great weather so we also had beautiful sunsets which was a bonus. The a/c worked well which was definitely needed during our hot weather. We found the owners easy to deal with & very helpful with good suggestions for things to do in the area. Families may enjoy a drive to Eganville to do the one hour tour of the Bonnechere Caves which our whole group enjoyed. It is also an easy drive to Ottawa to visit the many attractions there. But really the best fun was just staying here & using the paddleboat, canoe or kayaks & swimming all day long! We would certainly rent here again & already have the best memories of last week.

Best place we've rented yet!
Best place we've rented yet!
This was a blended family vacation with two adults and 6 teens ranging from 15-19 yrs old. Something to do for everyone. Loved the fully equipped kitchen, upscale appliances, private master suite. Lower entertainment area kept the kids occupied. Very convenient to Ottawa. Linens included, which was a nice touch. We all loved the canoe, kayaks and peddle boat. Owner was very accessible, kind and responsible. Can't wait to come back next year. Major's Landing was a MAJOR hit! Our only complaint was that we didn't have TWO weeks there!!

About the owner: We live in Ottawa, about 1 hour and 15 minutes from our Calabogie home/cottage. Like most people our lives are busy so we don't have as much time as we would like to go to our cottage so we decided to enter the rental market. Our cottage/home is available for our clients at any time of the year including long weekends and holidays.
Why the Owner Chose Calabogie:
We had been vacationing in the Calabogie area for a number of years and rented cottages along the way. We have had family ties to this area for generations so when we decided to buy a cottage and found nothing available we then built our dream home.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
The home/cottage boasts views of the lake that were specially designed when we chose to build this particular home. Every bedroom has at least 2 windows and they all have lake views. There is plenty of natural light complemented by various types of accent lighting. The decks all of fabulous views of the lake and sunsets. The fire pit is accessible from the French doors leading from the walk-out recreational area. As for access to the lake we have a stone staircase as well as a sloping trail and the lakefront is private with a large deck and dock system. This home is a perfect choice for large groups with its variety of entertainment options from the stereo system that provides for music in the Great Room, Dining Room, deck and sunroom areas that can be on all together or individually.
