This is a clean and bright home that sits up on a bit of a hill overlooking Chautauqua Lake. It is not right on the lake, but the lake is a constant presence from almost every area of the house and deck. I purchased it as my own home away from home, and it is clean and comfortable. The furnishings are mostly Crate and Barrel style. The kitchen is fully furnished except for food and drinks. We have a wonderful housecleaner. The laundry is done for you and the beds made up. It is a split level home probably built in the 80's. Very normal looking. The top level is the main level, containing the living room, dining room and kitchen, plus three bedrooms and one full bathroom.
Downstairs is the garage, laundry room and large 4th bedroom and full bath. We used to use the downstairs bedroom as more of a family room, but more people seemed to want the extra bedroom. So the downstairs room is large. Parents with smaller kids could sleep there with a lot of privacy, and the kids could sleep on the floor or on air mattresses (not included). It is more quiet.
Upstairs: One double bed, one queen bed, twins.
Living room, dining room and kitchen all pretty much open to each other but not quite a "great room". There is an electric stove and a good oven. I don't use a microwave. Sorry. Lots of nice table ware, plenty of pots and pans, knives, etc. I also supply paper products such as plates, cups, paper towels, toilet paper. The kitchen is spacious and easy for more than one person to cook at the same time.

We loved are stay. Very spacious and everything our family need inside and out. Barbecued out on the large deck several times. Mayville is a lovely small town. Fished about every day on Lake Chautauqua or lake Erie, 4+ pound bass on both. The grandchildren live in the city, so they really enjoyed all the outdoor activities. Tucker, our family dog was so happy he could come along. Owner is very helpful with all your questions and concerns.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, pet owners, families with young children, sightseeing, girls getaway.

My family and I have stayed at this home on numerous occasions and have always found it to be a fabulous home away from home. It is spacious and comfortable, and has everything you need, inside and out. It is conveniently located and offers a beautiful view of the lake. I highly recommend this home to Chautauqua Lake visitors.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, girls getaway.

Four times and I still love it. For us, it is the perfect retreat - beautiful lake setting, but close enough to the main street to walk to the store, restaurant, etc. We usually stay for 2 weeks and during that time, invite guests for a barbecue. Best part is that there's enough room for guests to stay overnight. The deck is a good size, covered with a canopy in case it's too sunny. We saw a few deer in the backyard on several occasions -usually early morning and again at dusk. It's very convenient - all utensils, pots, pans, dishware, etc. are there.. About the owner: I am a real estate agent in the San Francisco Bay Area. I have two grown children and two lovely grandchildren who live nearby. Most of my time is spent working, and I love reading good fiction and literature, traveling ( I just returned from Turkey), chamber music, and most of the wonderful cultural activities that are offered nearby at the Chautauqua Institution. In California I have many wonderful friends with whom I share great entertaining experiences.
Why the Owner Chose Mayville:
My mother and other family members own homes in this neighborhood. I bought this home for my personal use and that of other family members during the holidays when they come for visits. Friends and relatives who have stayed here encouraged me to offer it for rent. I try to keep it clean and comfortable. It is my home and I am very happy to share it. I hope that any guests will feel comfortable, but also respectful of the quality. It isn't for heavy duty partying, although that doesn't mean that you can't have gatherings for dinner. Just don't annoy the neighbors, and please please please don't come here if you are a bunch of single kids who want to get rowdy. There are plenty of other cabins around for that. It's fine to bring a well behaved dog along!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The main benefit for me is that my family gathers for meals and games. The other benefits include Chautauqua events, golf, the constant presence of the Lake.
