What a delight it was to stay here. The kitchen is great for cooking and it had everything you could ask for.Lots of natural light and a beautiful sitting room. Pete was just so accomadating and a pleasure to work with. Its in Oakley which is a ideal location. Its minutes to Biltmore and maybe 10 to down town if that. It had a great combination of privacy and still in a nice part of town for a nice walk in the morning. The fenced in back yard was just great for my dog and to sit outside with a nice book. It was very clean and well maintained and the queen bed was firm but I thought it was great to sleep on. I will be contacting Pete again for another visit soon. You wont be dissapointed:)))

We just returned from a long weekend (Fri-Mon) in Asheville, and we couldn't be more pleased with our decision to stay at this cottage! The location is perfect (minutes from Biltmore Estate/Village, Downtown Asheville & the Blue Ridge Parkway...all of which we explored in our short time there), the accommodations are very comfortable, and the neighborhood is safe & serene. Our two small boys (5 & 2) loved their "vacation house" also! We made sure to bring a baby gate to stop the little one from attempting the stairs, but otherwise the house was very safe & small-child friendly. And the fenced-in yard came in handy when we had friends from the area over for a big Easter dinner. I would recommend this house to anyone wanting to stay close to Downtown Asheville but with lots of room at a very reasonable price. We can't wait to go back!

Five of my girlfriends and I stayed here during an unbelievable weekend in Asheville and made memories that will last a lifetime! The home is in a great location, close to downtown, Biltmore and Grove Park Inn Spa and very reasonably priced. If you are planning a trip to any of these places, you should definitely consider this property! The home is in a neighborhood but on a nice size lot that makes for quiet surroundings. I have read the review that describes a dirty house among many other negative comments. One must wonder what is truly behind this review as we had a very different and positive experience. Our stay was within four days of the reviewer's stay and I cannot say anything that comes anywhere close to that reviewer's comments. If I wanted to be critical, my only suggestion (and not a complaint) would be to add blinds to all of the windows downstairs. My husband and I will be traveling to Asheville in the next couple of months and plan to stay at this property or the owner's downtown property. I will also add that the owner was very attentive and contacted me after our first night to make sure everything was okay. Great experience all around! I

My two daughters and one-year old grandson stayed in this comfy home while my daughters participated in a yoga retreat and I babysat. It was perfect for us and my crawling/walking grandson did well in this setting. (Fortunately we brought along a baby gate to keep him from going up the stairs.) The 3 bedroom, 1 and a half bath home was inviting and had plenty of room for us. We may have even used the fenced back yard had it not been rainy, cool weather. The only suggestion I would make to the owner is to stock up on paper products as there were few napkins, toilet paper, no paper towels and only 2 coffee filters!

This was our first weekend trip to Asheville and we were looking for lodging that would accommodate 2 parents and 2 older teens (who won't share a bed much less a bedroom). Rather than booking two ordinary hotel rooms we booked this VRBO property. It is located very near the Biltmore estate and just a short drive from the interesting sites in Asheville downtown. It was really a great little house, helpful owner, quiet area, clean, and had everything that we needed. This time we didn't bring our dog, but we will the next time! The fenced yard is ideal! We were very pleased with our stay and will recommend it to others!

We stayed at the house with our two 20 something children and our little dog over Thanksgiving holiday. The place was spacious and comfortable, allowing family time and individual space when needed. Four nights of concentrated family time was easily enjoyed (and tolerated) by all of us in this lovely home. In a hotel I think we would've maxed out at 2 nights. We enjoyed having downtown Asheville so close. It really is "Country Flavor Right in Town."

We had an early Thanksgiving with our daughter who attends college in Asheville. This historic bungalow was spacious, quiet and cozy, and had a great kitchen and dining space. Our dog loved the back yard so much, it was hard getting her to come in at night. The house is very accessible to Biltmore and downtown Asheville. We will keep this in mind for our next visit, as we visit Asheville often.

My four best friends and I stayed here for a girls weekend and had an absolutely wonderful experience! The home is very charming and has a great front porch and back patio for congregating. Great cottage feel with hardwood floors and exposed brick. We sipped wine on the porch and enjoyed the crisp, fall weather. The location is ideal - right between the Biltmore village and downtown Asheville. Booking was also very easy - Pete responded very quickly and was always available to my email questions. We will definitely be back!!

We stayed in this house two nights, and it was the worst stay we ever had. The house was extremely dirty. There was dust and dirt everywhere. There were for example big cobwebs at the corners of the windows inside the home, dead fly's and a lot of dust on the window sills. The outlets of the airco and heating system was full of dust and dirt, there were cobwebs at the lights in the room. You could write your name in the dust on the blinds. The next day we even saw several cockroaches. The refrigerator was so dirty inside we cleaned it ourselves before we put our things in it. The house looked if it wasn`t cleaned for a long time. The owner says it is renovated, well maybe it is, but that must be a long time ago. In fact the house needs a renovation. The shower curtain was falling from the wall a couple of times, the rod for the towels in the bathroom was broken. The photos on the website must be old. We made several photos of the dirt in the house and mailed them to the owner. Finally after a reminder we get an reaction, and he admitted that the house needs a good cleaning and it should be painted. I quote from his reaction by email: "The main improvement we are planning is t thoroughly clean and paint most of the interior spaces in the house. The heating system requires a total cleaning as well". We paid a lot of money for the two nights we stayed unfortunately we cancelled the Marriott Renaissance hotel because we liked a house for a couple of nights. We asked for a discount because it wasn`t worth the money, but he never gives any reaction. We have seen a lot of hotels and houses in the USA, every year we make a trip for 4 weeks through the US, so we stayed in a lot of houses and hotels, but this was by far the worst experience. SO DON`T STAY HERE, GO SOMEWERE ELSE, you will be glad you don`t stay here. I have photos that can prove everything I have said. If you would like to see the photos, I can mail them to you. I don`t not know how this house can get some good reviews, when I read them, I think they have stayed in a different house.

Owner response: This guest harassed us with an aggressive campaign to get money back after his stay. There were no complaints during his visit but shortly afterwards we began receiving emails similar to this review, making outrageous accusations and demanding a refund. His proposal: a full refund would earn us a 5 star review, 80% refund would earn 4 stars and so on. He wanted something for nothing, plain and simple. You can see what he got from the number of stars he gave us! There is always room for improvement and our house is no exception! We do have some worn paint, and there is some dust, just as you would probably expect at an older house. We are working on it, and continue to make gradual improvements over time. For every positive review you see on this site, there are four or five similar ones written in our guest book. Everyone else, without exception, raves about our house and most express a desire to return!

About the owner: I am a real estate investor, business owner and real estate agent. I live in Brevard, about 45 minutes south of Asheville. Most of my real estate activity is focused in Asheville because of the vibrant community and the thriving market.

                              Why the Owner Chose Asheville:
This property is close to Biltmore, in a very quiet neighborhood. It is so convenient, and I just love the comforting feel of the house. People tell me it has healing qualities, and i have to agree. We use it as often as we can when we just want to get away from Brevard and escape to Asheville!

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
I love the huge yard and the sense of being in the country. The house is so secluded, and yet it is right in the middle of a thriving neighborhood. The house is private, beautifully landscaped, and close to everything.
