Stay only a stone's throw from the world's finest vineyards in the Burgundy, Chablis and Champagne regions and find yourself surrounded by breathtaking farmland and welcomed by warm villagers. All of this is here in Gigny, a village ideally situated between Châtillon & Chablis.
This luxurious 17th Century stone farmhouse, enclosed in a beautiful courtyard with heated 5 x 9 meter swimming pool (open May/June – September/Oct - weather permiting), will allow you to experience France as you've only imagined it. Gigny is a typical Burgundy farming village dating back to the Middle Ages. For generations, families have cultivated the surrounding land, building stone houses from the beautiful ivory and taupe stone that is indigenous to this part of Burgundy.
We have named our property "Havre Paisible” (Peaceful Haven) for it offers peace, relaxation and tranquility in a luxurious setting – a safe haven from the pressures of the modern world. Our 3 bedroom - 3 bathroom renovated farmhouse dates originally from the 1600s and has been completely restored to provide every modern convenience whilst at the same time retaining all the charm of its original arches, doorways, beams and beautiful Burgundy stone. Havre Paisible is perfect for a gathering of friends or for family holidays.
UPON ENTERING, YOU WILL FIND:
* The dining area which seats 6 comfortably with its old world tile floors and beautiful original oak beams which give you a cozy and cottage-like atmosphere. To the right is the fully equipped kitchen consisting of fridge, freezer, hob, oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster & electric kettle.
* A full bathroom (bath with shower) and WC.
OFF THE DINING ROOM:
* The first bedroom (with double bed), which sleeps 2 and has a modern en-suite bathroom complete with shower and WC.
UPSTAIRS YOU WILL FIND:
* A cheerful, comfortable sitting room overlooking the courtyard & swimming pool.
* And two further bedrooms - one on each side of the sitting room. Bedroom 1 is non-ensuite bedroom but is generous in size and includes a private sitting area. The 2nd bedroom offers two single beds with a modern ensuite bathroom with bath/shower.
It is impossible to explore Burgundy in one holiday but even a week’s visit will illustrate the richness of the region’s heritage. Whilst most people come for the beautiful summer season, the area undergoes a transformation and takes on a completely different yet equally charming life during the fall and winter months.
The owners and Buddie their friendly Golden Retriever can’t wait to introduce you to the real France which cannot be found in the guidebooks! Some of our guests had initial concerns regarding visiting a gîte with the owners living on the premises. However, many of our guests have expressed to us how pleasantly surprised they were at the help and advice we were able to offer them. As one guest put it, this allowed them to “kick start” their holiday and experience this part of France as if they were locals.
