Our Lake Sunapee waterfront home is available for rent by the week throughout the year. During part of the year it is also available for 3-day weekends.
Come in the summer to swim and boat and lie in the sun. Come in the fall to see the changing seasons and enjoy the colours. Come in the winter to ski Mt. Sunapee.
Our house is located in historic Blodgett Landing, which was a spiritualist community in the latter part of the 19th century. Today, Blodgett Landing is a community of cottages with one-way streets leading into and out of it. Our house is lake front property that you access from the front of the house, which means there is a small road between the house and the water. The speed limit is posted at 15mph but you might want to keep this in mind if you have small children. The original 100-year-old cottage was extensively renovated in 1997; we focused on keeping with the architectural character of the neighborhood and the 'cottagy' feel of the house, and finished with a fun, whimsical decorating style. Enjoy all the comforts of home away from the cares of the world. The main floor of the house is an open living area, with cottagy appeal and fantastic views. Sitting area is focused on the view across Lake Sunapee to Mt. Sunapee. Dining area opens to roofed deck with wicker furniture. Kitchen has Jen-Aire stove, microwave, disposal, and refrigerator. Den is located off the main living area. It contains a stone fireplace (gas), cable TV, and DVD. For those with wireless capability, fast speed internet is available too. Outdoor gas grill is included. Second (full) bathroom is on main floor.
There are three bedrooms and a shower room on the upper floor. Master bedroom has a queen-size bed. Second bedroom has double bed. Third bedroom has twin beds. Master bathroom includes double sink and ceramic tile shower. Views of lake and mountain from two bedrooms. All mattresses are new. Linens and towels are provided. Please bring your own beach towels.
The ground floor of the house includes a garage and a utility room with washer and dryer.
Lakeside, for your private use, we have a wonderful new cedar deck/dock (16 foot by 18 foot) over the water. Stone steps lead down into the water, which has a sandy bottom. It's a great spot for swimming and playing, or for Mum and Dad to relax while kids play in the water. And it’s a great spot from which to enjoy the sunset. Tie up your boat! Two new lake kayaks are included for your enjoyment.
In the fall, you can experience the autumn colors and enjoy leaf-peeping season without leaving the property.
In the winter, Mt. Sunapee is a great family mountain to ski and snowboard. For several years, there has been major investment in the mountain with new trails and lifts. Snow is made starting early in November and there is usually a good base by Thanksgiving. There are plenty of kids’ programs, a superb 'Learning Center' as well as daycare. Check out the Mt Sunapee website. Well into the winter, the frozen lake is a great place to cross-country ski and ice fish. Occasionally, conditions can even be perfect for ice skating. This is a terrific winter getaway for family ski weekends. Multiple weekend timeblocks are negotiable.
From the house it's 5 miles in one direction to New London for groceries and restaurants, and 5 miles in the other direction to the base of Mt. Sunapee. |
