Family Vacation Hq in the Nation's Capital

Don't stay in a hotel! You and your family will be far more comfortable in a three bedroom town house in historic Capitol Hill. Walking distance to the Capitol, the Smithsonian, Metro and TONS of restaurants.
Available during summer holidays only, late June to late August. This is home to a family of four, but we only live here during the school year. In summer, we live on our boat in Annapolis.
Here's what your life could be like if you're able to join us for a week this summer:
Wake up early in the morning and jog to the Lincoln Memorial to watch the sun rise from the spot where Dr. King delivered his I Have a Dream speech.
Pick up some bagels or fresh bread on the way home (or bake your own, don't forget, this is a fully furnished kitchen.)
After breakfast, walk to Union Station (five minutes) to rent bikes for your daylong tour of the National Mall. In 10 minutes, you'll be at the Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery or anywhere on the mall. Meet for lunch outside at the beautiful Sculpture Garden cafe. Grab a kite from the gift shop at the Air and Space Museum, and spend the afternoon flying a kite on the mall.
If it's a Friday night, ride the bikes to Yards Park, near the new Nationals baseball stadium, and take in a free concert. Any other night, leave the kids with a sitter (I'll recommend the ones we use) and head to the hot new neighborhood around Barrack's Row for drinks and dinner.
We love living here and you will too. My wife and I will be your informal advisers on restaurants, sites, transport, baby sitters and more.
Welcome to Washington!

Our three generation family enjoyed staying in this home last summer for our trip to Washington, D.C. very much. The house was clean, cute and well equipped. Exactly as pictured and described. That I found a place I felt great about having both my parents and children at is really satisfying. All three generations of our family say we'd go back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

We could not have been happier with this wonderful row house or its excellent location on Capitol Hill. The home was clean, very easy to live in, and had a beautiful new kitchen, & pretty living & dining rooms with a very spacious table. Photos & description of property were quite accurate, and the owners were responsive, eager to help, & bent over backward for us. Less than 10 min walk to metro, 25 min walk to National Gallery of Art. A terrific value in a pretty neighborhood.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car.

This home provided a perfect location to sight-see and take in the true DC experience. Property was very roomy and comfortable for our family of 6. (2 adults, 4 children) Great to have top notch kitchen to bring in food from the Eastern Market for mornings or nights to stay in. Easy walking distance to Union Station, Capitol, Library of Congress, Supreme Court and National Mall. Right around the corner from great restaurants and eateries. Loved the historical charm of the neighborhood and feel of the house. Would definitely recommend the house to others and plan to return here should our travels find us in DC again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children, tourists without a car.

We had a great week in DC and very nice accommodations thanks to this owner and his property. The owner's description of the property and the area were right on. The pictures look exactly like what we found at this quaint home. I enjoyed staying in a row house, coming from the midwest! And it is so much easier to stay in a home than in a hotel with 3 kids. We utilized the Metro a LOT since Union Station was a 5 minute walk. We would pass a coffee shop every morning on our way to the Metro for our day of sightseeing! Union Station has quick bites to eat and a couple of restaurants. There is a small grocery store just down the block from this home. The owner was so helpful and very easy to work with. He made sure that our key exchange was convenient and offered restaurant recommendations. One restaurant was Matchbox - we ended up there 2 different nights because we loved it! Being in DC during the first week in August made us really appreciate air conditioning in this home. I can't say enough about the convenience of working with this owner. Lodging can make or break a trip sometimes and we were lucky enough to have a great experience!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1988
About the owner: I am a sales manager at a large corporation and my wife is a professional musician and professor at a state university in Maryland. Our two children (10 and 13) have been raised here.
Why the Owner Chose Capitol Hill:
We live here, this is our home. In the summer time, we live on our boat in Annapolis Maryland on the Chesapeake Bay. Since our home is in such a terrific location, we have found that other families very much prefer staying here to squeezing into a hotel room for their vacation in Washington.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You will enjoy all the conveniences of a fully furnished home. Order in or cook at home, you'll have everything you need from dishes and cutlery to spices and kitchen tools.
