This is a wonderful home in a lovely setting, wherein you can relax and enjoy its comforts and explore the many surrounding historical and archeological sights. The 2 bedroom bungalow is tastefully decorated containing interesting pre-Columbian artforms and is very clean. A well equipped kitchen provides ample opportunity for self-catering or as in our case we engaged the services of our friendly and very capable housekeeper, Flora, to cook us 3 delicious and hearty dinners in addition to generous and tasty breakfasts each morning. She is a charming and delightful lady whose company we enjoyed and began simple exchange of English and Spanish language instruction. Dining area and living room area are very nice; bedrooms and washrooms are clean and comfortable. One bedroom has a king-size bed and the other bedroom has 2 bunk beds. there are also 2 full bathrooms with toiletries. The gardens surrounding the home were kept beautifully and from the terrace we were entertained daily by number of different bird species including the beloved hummingbirds. There is also a flat screen TV for those wishing to stay in touch and WI FI connection too! Viviana telephoned us the day after our arrival to make sure everything was alright, which it was, and offered any assistance that we might need. The road into the villa is quite long, about 1 kilometre or .6 miles and very twisty, narrow and uneven. Make sure you turn in at the Hotel San Augustin Recoleta and keep going. Our driver had never been there and we were not sure we were on the right track, but as the track dwindled I asked at a neighbour's house and we were directed correctly to continue onward a short distance. We were met at the door by a friendly gatekeeper who obviously knew of our impending arrival. There is covered car parking space available inside the complex. Because of the road and distance to Urubamba, we decided wisely to have Flora cook our dinners in the home and we were rewarded with great dinners. My husband and I enjoyed 3 marvelous days here and would recommend it highly.

We had one of the best vacations of our lives and this lovely house was our "home-base". We loved so many things about this home: * its central location in the Sacred Valley * close proximity to so many sites and ruins * lower elevation than Cusco, so less altitude issues * cozy warm feel of the home * wonderful, hospitable, helpful staff (house keeper, gardener, watch man) * graciousness of the owner to make sure we well taken care of * all the basics (plentiful hot water, superb interiors, very functional bathrooms and kitchen, warm fireplace) * our kind and gracious taxi driver, Ruben, was the BEST - highly recommend his services! Can't speak more highly of this home and of the beautiful village of Urubamba. We would recommend this home to ALL travelers coming to Peru. You will come happy, and leave in bliss :-)

We arrived in the Sacred valley just around 5pm . Upon Arrival we immediately were greeted by the exceptional staff. We had been welcomed into such a gem of a local home. The Door men, the maids, and the guards at night all wonderful people with the only goal being us Having the best possible experience . After settling in.. the Owner Viviana arranged for us to have pumpkin soup which was delicious. Our trip was made fantastic by all of the extra touches by the Owner Viviana. These extra touches include a meal upon arrival, firewood stacked by the door, A Welcome packet with all the information one could need about the local area. Fresh cooked Delicious Breakfasts, an immaculate home. The grounds on the compound were phenomenal Clearly the property is loved then there are abundant gardens> Maritza used many of the ingredients for her meals straight from the garden. Make sure to have the Quinoa Pancakes for breakfast with the fresh made Orange Juice. Such a delight. Staying in Viviana's Home made our time there feel like we were home.I cant express enough how wonderful it was.I highly recommend this place with out any reservation Quite Honestly I am certain I will be returning. There certainly is something very special about The Sacred Valley.. Thankyou for the memories ~~~ Fondly~~ Tracey

We spent a week at Villaruna this past August 2012 - We are a family of 5 and we enjoyed the coziness , the house was very clean and comfortable, it is also very nicely decorated in all of the rooms and it made us feel at home. The surroundings of the house are breathtaking at the foot of the mountains with many tall eucalyptus trees and gardens that are cared for everyday by the staff. The caretaker of the house , Maritza, prepared breakfast for us each morning wich was delicioussss!! Especially her special Quinua pancakes yummmmmm! We enjoyed our time here and it was the perfect location to be able to visit all the sights in the sacred valley. We hope to return to Villaruna one day soon!

It is so difficult to know where to start. First, Villa Runa is a gorgeous home, with Viviana, the owner, welcoming us before we even arrived. The home is a wonderful blend of indoor and outdoor living spaces that allow you to enjoy the beautiful surroundings continuously. The combination of exposed wood beams, white washed and terra-cotta walls and stone complimented the incredible views from every window. We expected a lot from the pictures and reviews and it met or exceeded our expectations. Villa Runa is part of a beautiful and secure complex of about 6 or 7 homes. We enjoyed the grounds, fresh fruit and vegetables from the gardens, and the friendly dogs that greeted us each day. (If you don't like dogs, they will leave you alone.) But better than the surroundings were the people. It was a pleasure to meet and work with Maritza, Marco and Manuel. They helped us navigate our way around the area for a month, working to make everything easy while making sure we saw everything! This was our first trip to the highlands of Peru and we were very pleased with our choice to make Urubamba our home-base. The location is ideal as we headed out to Ollantaytambo, Yucay, Tipon, Cusco and Machu Picchu. We felt we got a true feel for the local life while being able to see all the incredible tourist attractions. And then, at the end of each day, we returned to beautiful Villa Runa. Thank you Viviana. Of course, we will have to return. Laura & Jim

We stayed here early August 2011. My party consisted of myself, husband and 2 children (17 and 5); a nanny was supposed come along but couldn't make it. Communication with the owner prior to renting was smooth-she signed up with paypal to facilitate easy payment. The nice bottle of Pisco and the card waiting for us upon arrival, were an excellent touch. The house is located about an hour drive from the Cusco airport which makes it ideal if one is going to Machu Picchu as well as to see the Sacred Valley. Among all the staff at the compound, the housekeeper was by far the most attentive and very pleasant. We did see the rest of the staff upon arrival but, they were hard to find after that when we needed assistance (for example, no hot water the last evening). The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was there was no wireless internet inside the house (due in part to how far it is located from the modem)-one had to go outside to pick up the signal. Additionally, per the description, we were expecting 3 bedrooms plus a den but got 2 bedrooms plus a den. There was a locked door which I am presuming was the third bedroom. My assumption is this bedroom may be opened based on how many people in the party? If so, this should be made clearer in the description. The owner as I mentioned is very attentive and even prompted us to write this review so, I have no doubt that she will address these minor inconveniences as soon as she can. We would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

Owner response: Thanks so much for your comments as they are key in helping us improve. I wanted to address a few of the issues: yes there is a third bedroom besides the den, however, we usually keep it locked for parties of 5 or less people. I am sorry to hear you had a difficult time getting the staff to help at last night, you were, unfortunately, visiting during a time of transition for us as our night staff is changing and we are currently in the process of training new night staff. This issue should be rectified over the next few weeks. As for the the wi-fi, we are currently improving the wiring to help with any connection issues. Best Regards

The Villa was a heavenly and luxurious home to serve as base for our Sacred Valley adventures. The home was architecturally inspiring, with traditional Andean elements and the influences of modern comforts and sustainable design elements. The interiors were beautifully and comfortably appointed with gorgeous local textiles and cultural artifacts, the bedrooms with lush comforters for a good night's sleep, and gorgeous views, and sounds and smells of nature to wake to in the morning. The property is private and made for a very relaxing start and end to the day--while also at the heart of the historical sites and cultural attractions of the region. It made for a dream vacation, I couldn't recommend it more.
