We recently stayed here for a 4 night vacation. The cabin is very stunning upon arrival. We loved that the floors, bathrooms, and bedrooms were clean. The kitchen was sparsely equipped with pans and plateware - we ran the dishwasher at least once a day due to running out of plates and cups. Some of the pans, pots, coffee pot, silverware were dirty, so we needed to scrub those things down before using them. The pool was located about 100 feet from the cabin, which was great. The pool is small, but due to visiting in late August, the pool was fairly vacant, which was great. The location of the cabin was convenient - being only about a 5 minute drive to Saugatuck. We went into town every day. The problems with the cabin were plenty, though. The hot tub - a major reason why we booked the cabin - was gross. The management was fairly accommodating and came out twice to clean it. Still, after they were done with cleaning it, there was mold/mildew along the rim of the tub and on the tub cover. It was pretty gross, so we used it sparingly. Also, the TV in the loft was problematic. The wiring was pulled out in the back, so nothing worked when we arrived. Had I not been tech-savvy, we would have been without TV - which, I guess isn't the end of the world. Also, Goshorn lake was not enticing at all for swimming. The lake was full of algae, was warm, and not conducive for swimming at all. We ended up going to Lake Michigan for swimming activities. The screened-in porch was wonderful. We spent a lot of time out there but found the lack of air movement to be uncomfortable at times. A small fan might do the trick next time. Also, the screens had several holes in them as well as spaces in the flooring planks allowing bugs to enter the porch area. The upper loft area has two oversized love seats with ceiling fans overhead. This was very comfortable, and it ended up being a great place to rest/nap. Even though the property wasn't perfect, it was nice enough for us to consider returning in the fall/winter. The management was very friendly and accommodating even with the hiccups we encountered.

Our family had the privilege of staying at the Stonefire Lodge for our first ever family vacation! As a bit of a neat freak, I was concerned about the cleanliness of the cabin before we arrived. I shouldn't have worried; it was immaculate! The peacefulness and solitude were just the stress relievers that we needed and our three teenagers enjoyed the pool, hot tub, the lake which was just a short walk, and of course the Wi-Fi. While we spent most days at the dunes, walking through the quaint shops in Saugatuck, or laying on the beaches of Lake Michigan, we were just as happy spending time at the cabin enjoying family dinners and playing board games in front of the fireplace. We hope to return again soon!

Stonefire lodge was simply perfect. The cabin is very new and the furnishings are really upscale, it did not feel like a rental at all. There is a ton of comfortable seating and the entire place was absolutely spotless, it seems like they are very good about keeping the place professionally cleaned. The pool is about 100 feet away and there is a walkway to the lake with a sitting area. Also there is a great private hot tub on the screened in back porch where you can relax and view the woods and lake in the back. The area is very quiet but you are only a 5-10 min drive (or 30min walk) to downtown Saugatuck so it gives you the best of both worlds. The dunes state park was my favorite which was just down the street with great hiking and a beautiful natural beach, you are also really close to Holland maybe 15-20 minutes.

The home is truly outstanding. The amenities were all first class. We all have been in homes that look great in the internet photo, but when you get there it's like a "bait and switch". Not this place. If anything, the photos don't do it justice. If you are planning to go to Sagatuck for a vacation, I highly recommend staying here. Especially if you have a big family. Plenty of room. It's about a 5 minute drive to downtown Sagatuck and 8 minutes to Douglas (where the best restaurant is located).
