Please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions. Your hosts, Bill and Madelyn have operated a bed and breakfast type inn in Homer for several years and know how to facilitate a great stay. Remember, strangers are just friends waiting to happen. Regardless of where you end up staying I have the utmost confidence that you, your family and friends will have a wonderful visit. Be sure to take many pictures!

Our home is the perfect place to base your Alaskan adventures from. We offer a luxurious custom 3,200 ft2 (300 m2), four bedroom home on 4 acres (.4 hectares) of landscaped property, just 10 minutes away from downtown Homer and the renowned Homer Spit. The house was built to be energy efficient and user friendly with a low carbon foot print. Designed with excellent views of Kachemak Bay, the Homer Spit, the Harding Ice Field and glaciers and the rugged mountains of the southern Kenai Peninsula this home has everything you will need for a memorable gathering. This unique Alaskan home features vaulted ceilings, a very comfortable living room, large quiet bedrooms with light canceling shades, a large recreation room, a fully stocked (pots, pans, dishes, silverware, spices, etc.) gourmet kitchen, laundry room (with front loading washer & dryer), interior balconies, covered exterior balconies and a large deck. The master bathroom has an oversized jetted bathtub along with a large shower (that also has an excellent view).Additional linen and portable mattresses are available for larger groups. We are children and pet friendly (as long as your children and pets are friendly). There are three TVs and an expansive video library, if kicking back and watching a movie is in order. There is a top of the line stereo system with speakers in the vaulted area if you want some music to go with that fresh caught fish you are barbequing on the deck. You are likely to see moose in the yard and ducks, geese and cranes in the pond in the yard.
The house is equipped with everything you will need to be comfortable and happy. We can make suggestions and help with any arrangements you may need to explore the area.
Ask about the great local dining establishments. You will not regret it. See you in Homer!

Owner info

Year Purchased: 1997

About the owner: Bill and Madelyn have made Homer their home for 26 years and have lived in Alaska for 34 years. We met, married and raised children in Alaska. We continue to enjoy the opportunities and adventures that Alaska has to offer. Now that our children are grown we have been making time for travel and adventures abroad.

Why the Owner Chose Homer:
Homer or the ‘Cosmic Hamlet by the Sea’ as it is sometimes called, is a very eclectic community located in one of the world’s most beautiful and pristine locations. The people, businesses, institutions and location make this a truly unique and precious town. At approximately 6,000 people, at the ‘end of the road’ it’s a great size for us. When the need occurs, there are all the amenities of the big city just 1.5 hours north and Seattle is just a 4 hour flight south. The Japanese Ocean Current brings ’warm’ water to this coastal area, which in turn drives the temperate climate and brings the moisture needed to maintain the lush vegetation in the area. Not too warm, not too cold and very few mosquitos! We will never grow tired of being a part of this community.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
When contemplating the unique benefits of this area, first off there is the view. The view of the bay, mountains, glaciers and skyline is always different and always spectacular. The view from the king size master bed makes it hard not to linger with a nice breakfast in bed. The covered balcony is perfect for taking in the view on a rainy day. Then there is Kachemak Bay. The bay is the most awesome combination of grocery store and playground I have ever found. For the playground there is boating, kayaking, surfing, fishing, sightseeing, wind surfing, beach combing, swimming (yes, swimming), bird watching, scuba diving, whale watching, photography, hiking, mountain biking and of course a plethora of winter sports and activities. For wholesome groceries there are salmon, halibut (Homer is billed as the ‘Halibut Fishing Capital of the World), cod, snapper, shark, crab, shrimp, mussels, scallops, octopus, clams, oysters and many more tasty treats. On land there are moose, mountain goat, bear, ducks, ptarmigan and geese to fill your freezer along with rainbow, lake and steelhead trout in local streams. Then there are the edible plants, herbs and berries. There is also locally raised beef, pork and locally grown produce (check out the Saturday Farmer’s Market in town).
